We have our newborn photos this morning. The photographer is coming over to our house to take them at 10am. I'm anxious mostly because I don't think DS1 will be cooperative. They are a major splurge so I hope they turn out ok. I also think DS1 is getting sick - he was pretty congested yesterday. Hopefully nothing too bad and he's back to himself soon.

Hi! Can't sleep due to leg/hip pain/soreness. Today is officially maternity leave! I'm going to brunch with my mom then getting a mani/pedi.

H’s alarm woke me up early. DD won’t get up for another hour. She was a saint yesterday at our family friends for dinner, she’s usually a good kid but she was perfection yesterday, even went potty without a fight. I have a midwife appointment later this afternoon. It’s weird to think this is the most pregnant I’ve ever been since DD was born at exactly 39 weeks.

arimaythea Good luck with the NB photos! My sister was told to keep her baby awake as long as possible right before the photo shoot time, so baby would be nice and sleepy for them. Hers ended up turning out great. I've never done newborn photos, so that's all the advice I have! duskymonkey Burb baby dusky - you can do it! @crumudgeon Sorry about the lack of sleep - hip pain is the worst. Yay for maternity leave and mani/pedi though!

Just hanging here in the hospital, waiting for my dinner while LO naps in the bassinet next to me. He is officially having breastmilk poops now (no more meconium), which means he's been a little more gassy and needs more soothing when his tummy hurts. I think I over-fed him at the last feeding. 😬😬 Whoops! My milk is coming in now, so it's a hard balance of wanting to keep him fed, managing engorgement, and not overfeeding.
DS visited again today and just wanted to hold the baby the whole time 😍😍. I love how sweet he is with LO. Can't wait for us all to be home together tomorrow morning!

We get discharged today! I'm so ready to be home and back in my own space. I'm also ready to see DD again.
Before they let us go, DS has a sacral dimple that they need to check out via ultrasound to rule out any spinal issues. Anyone with recent experience?

Had a really bad day of super intense contractions all day yesterday that apparently stopped when i went to bed at 10:30 since they didn't wake me up. I woke up to pee at 4, and I'm sitting on the couch now. I've had a few in the 30 minutes I've been up, but i no longer believe anything means anything with my body.

Tears fucking suck. I can't even - quite literally, I tore so much there's a fair bit I can't do (easily and certainly not pain free).
In better news, I saw the LC this morning and she's a magic worker. I have great BFing breasts and good colostrum. All of this is great to know because I was getting really frustrated with her showing hunger cues all the time. I feel like she's finally maybe not hungry right now, like i fed her properly this last time.

Off topic but one handed typing makes things hard.... I just read your birth story. Those peanut balls really do the trick!! I went from managing to I'm dying in like two contractions. (I probably was further along than we realized since they never did a check after 6cm, but still. I thought I was going to die with the peanut ball) All pregnants LISTEN!!! USE THE PEANUT BALL!!!

My first day home with LO all by myself! We have a quick visit to the doctor this morning to check on the jaundice and then hopefully some napping this afternoon before I pick DD up from daycare. I also need to take care the paperwork for my short-term disability.

It’s my due date. I’m still pregnant and start maternity leave today. I feel like I’m wasting days. However, I didn’t get to sleep until 4am (pregsomnia, anxiety, etccc) so I guess I’ll take today to relax.
Doctors appt today to have my membranes stripped again, hoping it jump starts something!

PSA - Target has their baby box back this month. I really like the items they offer this time. And someone from DD's BMB said they come with a $10 off coupon as well (box only costs $7 shipped).

I had a 4th degree tear (the literal worst type) with DD and I thought I'd never feel normal again. Good news - I did! It just takes a lot of time (and rest and pain meds) to heal. Let your mom and H do everything they can for you while they are there. Take it easy on yourself and don't try to overdo it and the healing should be easier. Hope you and LO are doing good today!

Last night DS2 was super fussy and barely slept. I think I just blocked out the newborn phase from DS! DS ended up in our bed around midnight and every time DS2 cried, DS would say "oh my baby brother is awake! I want to see him!" It was so cute and so annoying. Good luck to his daycare teachers today- He's probably a crab.

Not a personal experience, but my friends now 3 year old had this at birth as well. The hospital pediatrician was pretty "worst case scenario" about it, but her regular pediatrician said it's not super uncommon for babies to have them and they usually heal/get better as they get older.

Everyone at work has started their conversation with me with the phrase “you’re here?! We didn’t think you’d make it!” Yeah me either, thanks. Just need to get through this week and possibly next Monday & Tuesday although I may WFH so people won’t annoy me with their dumb ass comments. I’m also running on very little sleep so not helping my mood.
I hope to join the weekend baby boom! I’m so looking forward to getting my membranes sweeped on Friday.

I pretty much spend hours just smiling at this new baby and I keep alternating between thinking he's the cutest little thing I've ever seen and Gee, he looks like a tiny old man. Anyone else? DS makes this weird little satisfied smirk with his eyes closed that makes him look like one of the characters from the Princess Bride/Toy Story (mostly because of his crazy hair line and facial expressions).

I feel like she's finally maybe not hungry right now, like i fed her properly this last time. I had bad tears with both my deliveries. Biggest advice is do not slide or scoot anywhere: Gently ease off the hospital bed, sofas, chairs, etc. An inflatable donut type seat can help too (good for hemorrhoids as well as tears!). I used this thing exclusively after this delivery and I swear it tremendously. Use all the tools the nurses give you for using the bathroom — long after you think you could stop just keep using them. Also, when you’re ready to be done with the hospital pads - make sure to get pads with wings for personal use. Nothing worse than stitches and pulling. Just saying.... 😬 FX for quick healing. It does heal, it just takes a long time.

Still pregnant here... so ready to be done. I’m at the point where he’s never coming out and I’ll be pregnant forever
We were up most of the night because DD was coughing and it took her a while to go back to sleep. She’s got a field trip to a local pumpkin farm so we’re gonna go and see how she does. Thankfully it’s not that far from our house and we’re not driving with the rest of the school so we can leave whenever.

I'm cringing at the tear talk. Thankfully you avoid those with a c-section. Although I'm not sure having the baby come thought the sunroof is any less painful. Abdominal surgery and all that.
Spent the morning unpacking some more. Kitchen is perfect. DD & DS's room are mostly done. My clothes are all put away (I realize I'm woefully unprepared for cold weather clothes. Need to shop).
Living room, dining room and bathroom are still disaster zones. Everyone is napping now though, so I'm taking a break.

Holy milk boobs, Batman! I forgot just how much my nipples flatten out with the engorgement. I found that positioning him with my left arm and holding my boob with my right hand works best for now. But my left arm is really sore, even with using pillows.
We need to get a door knob cover for the nursery because DS1 keeps going in there saying, "baby!" when DS2 is in there sleeping. He is adjusting so well, though.
