Ok but why? Bc like me? I have serious issues with portion control. And a cupcake? It's a portion. So if I want cake, bada bing bada boom, built in portion control.

Wedding favors are a waste of money. No one wants them and half of them get left behind.

Because they're drier than a slice of cake. And I'd rather eat a cake with layers of frosting evenly distributed than a cupcake with a big blob on top. Andplusalso I'm sick of making them for people who are obsessed with cupcake shows.

OMG, yes grumpycakes! The icing/cake distribution is all wrong. If I am eating a cupcake, I'll pull off the stump and put it on top, to make more like a whoopie pie. It helps some, but I'd much rather have a slice of cake.

Wedding favors are a waste of money. No one wants them and half of them get left behind. I like favours if they're both edible and tasty. The two I can remember liking were two fancy truffles and a small bottle of plum liqueur.

We gave small bottles of calvados at our wedding, inspired by the plum liqueur.

Chocolate cupcakes are the best cupcakes. Disagree! White cupcakes with very lemony frosting are best

I'm team TJ. Cupcakes are great portions.
To all of you taking a single slice of cake and happily putting it on your plate, gah. Good luck to you.

Cupcakes are better without frosting. Isn't it just a muffin at that point?

Cupcakes are better without frosting. Isn't it just a muffin at that point? I feel like muffins are more dense. Or slightly less sweet. Or something. But I'm also ok saying muffins are better than cupcakes.

Oh in my previous post I had said we got a little bottle of plum liqueur at a wedding once, so it inspired us to give little bottles at ours. We chose Calvados because my husband is from a region in France where that's their specialty. His grandparents made their own and still have some in oak barrels that's close to 30 years old. It's not good though, it's so strong it's undrinkable and if you can choke it down it feels like your esophagus is dissolving lol. It would be so cool to make your own!

Wedding favors are a waste of money. No one wants them and half of them get left behind. Popular! The wedding we just went to, they put in the program they made donations to their favorite charities (girl scouts and organ donation) in lieu of favors and I loved that! They did also have personalized koozies for people to use during the reception, which we took home, so I guess they cheated. Nugget was super excited about her sippy cup koozie I think unless a favor is edible, like a candy station or a mini box of chocolates or something, or actually useful (our favors were glass coasters with the LOVE statue engraved on them, so many people we know actually still use them 7 years later). No one wants a personalized champagne glass with your wedding date on it, or a weird candle or a set of heart-shaped measuring spoons. Or personalized anything, stop printing your wedding date on stuff you expect people to keep. Or Jordan almonds. blech.

I still use the pint glasses and stemless wine glasses which my cousins had at their wedding. And the match boxes my other cousins had at theirs. My cousins and their respective spouses. We didn't have cousins marrying cousins. Edit: glasses and matchboxes with their initials/names and wedding dates on them.

I have pint glasses from a wedding I still use, and matches are a useful item. I have also thrown out many sets of weird measuring spoons and candles and bags of Jordan almonds and mini flowerpots. When I was in college, I was a big fan of the leftover personalized champagne glasses when I worked in catering, I had a whole set in my dorm room. But I feel like most wedding favors get thrown out and wasted

UO: thoughts on pregnant ladies.
You sound silly saying, "I usually labor like XYZ, I go early, I go late, I can't handle ABC, I always want DEF."
When you've only have one kid. Or even two.
All labors are different.
Sure, say, "with my first, blah blah blah."
Or "with my first two, blah blah blah blah."
But otherwise, I swear, you're just setting yourself up for a wild card labor.

Can I just butt in since I read this late? I really really hate mason jar and burlap everything at weddings. I recently worked a wedding that had little labels on the mason jar type glasses and people were supposed to take them home with them. SO I SHOULD say- I have a close relationship to barn weddings, and people seem to favor mason jar everything and burlap décor. Enough is enough. I would say my favorite items to take home would be artisianal soap. because I love handmade soap

It was classy and beautiful and not faux-quaint. Also why do people like to drink out of mason jars? I hate the way the rim feels on my mouth while drinking. I use them for a ton of things, but drinking is a no unless I'm desperate and too lazy to wash a glass. also hiiiii sherminator !!!

I don't usually use them, but I will if it's there. They also have lids available, so I often put a small amount of coffee or juice or whatever in it in the fridge, and it's ready to drink from next time. I get if Mason jars and burlap aren't your thing, but y'all get a big eye roll from me for side eyeing someone's wedding decor that hard. It's just decor. I side eye everyone who has a big expensive wedding with fancy linens and glasses in a barn. YOU'RE IN A BARN. Maybe it makes more sense to keep it casual.

I guess the trendy aspect of it is was I don't like very much. Ultimately people can do what they want and I'll probably enjoy the wedding if the food and music are decent. But at least here, where we do not live in the country, it feels very trendy to have a "down home" wedding with burlap and lace (maybe it's the combination of the two?) and everything in a mason jar. It's like how your kids are going to look back in 20 years and go "Mom, why were there mustaches everywhere in your wedding photos? People back then were weird!" The wedding I just went to was in North Georgia, so I wouldn't have faulted mason jars, but it was also between two 55 year olds, so it would have been a bit weird. Also I used to watch a lot of wedding shows like 4 Weddings, which probably made me a bit judgy about weddings. I blame TLC and WeTV.

I had mason jar decor at my wedding before it was trendy. We had pansies in small mason jars lined with pea gravel and gallon sized mason jars with curly willow branches and some random weeds we found on the side of the road as centerpieces. It fit perfectly with our reception venue, and was pretty much free as most of the jars were borrowed, and my cousin arranged them. The favors were these little flip top glass jars with M&Ms in our wedding colors in them.
