I have to brag on my kid. His EI went to do his monthly session at school instead of here and sent me this:
Fwd: Hey there! He was so fun to watch at school. He did really well playing with me with a small group of friends. He was trying to tell me and get me to play with a lot of the toys and centers in the room also. This was the best thing I saw. A friend fell and was crying and he was trying to tell me what happened. He was using their name and saying crying/fell down. I prompted him to give her a hug and she later came back and gave him a kiss. I also asked his teachers about coloring. They said whatever the group does, he's right there with them

Taitai, not to make light of what you are going through, but when you said you and your employees went out wearing face masks, at first I pictured you all out to tea wearing the moisturizing masks you like to use... Woops!

seventythree rebeccabunch Said everything much better than I could have. Please make sure your H knows how your feeling. If BF is important to you see if you can consult with a LC so that is one less thing on your plate. I know it's easier said than done but please try to sleep, even if it's a short nap it can help out. And like mkrupar said maybe talk to a doctor or find out if your work has some resources so you can talk to someone. Sending you hugs, we are here if you need to talk!

My coworkers keep making me laugh to try to get me to go into labor. They are doing a pizza and cake thing for me tomorrow on my last day.

Taitai, Just catching up on your posts about the TB exposure. I'm sorry you are dealing with this. I have been exposed multiple times at work by patients that I worked with before they were on any precautions for TB and it is super scary and stressful. Luckily everything came back fine each time, I am crossing my fingers for the same with you and your family!!

seventythree, I'm just here to echo what everyone else has said. First of all, if I've learned one thing from this place it's that we are here for each other when we need it. You don't worry about updating us until you need/want to and we will be here. Even if it's just to vent and get it out. Take care of yourself first and foremost - baby needs a happy mommy. Please talk to your doctor and also just know that we are here with listening ears, sending all of the good thoughts.

I haven't caught up yet - still in newborn world over here. Baby is doing really good nursing, sleeping, burping, etc. The hardest part so far is DD trying to adjust to everything. She's trying to be super clingy to me and comes to pull on my hand anytime I start feeding the baby. Tonight was really hard. I know we'll all adjust soon but it's so hard at first.

Oh and at the risk of being a PW, I have a BFing question. Do I need to wait a certain amount of time before I start pumping? Sometimes the baby only takes one side or doesn't empty the second side. My milk is coming in now and it's going to get really uncomfortable if he keeps it up. But I don't want to start pumping too soon and mess my supply up. Thoughts?

thatgirlrachel I wouldn't pump yet, myself. You could hand express enough to be comfortable. This is what I remember from last time at least, I'm not quite there yet.... I know these first days and weeks are hard, though.

^agreed!
Hand express just enough to feel comfortable. I pumped way too much, too early last time and gave myself a terrible oversupply. I'm hoping to avoid that this time.

@thatrachelgirl I agree with cougarette and CoachTsWife! I unfortunately had an incompetent LC who encouraged me to pump with DS when he was a brand new baby. He was similar to yours - would finish only 1 side or would fall asleep nursing all the time before he could empty me. Long story short - the stupid LC told me to pump the other side for 20 minutes minimum to "keep my supply up," but what ended up happening is that I wound up with an oversupply. That sucked - as I was making enough milk for triplets at one point! I saw a new LC, who was IBCLC certified, and she was like...omg stop pumping!!! littleowl913 Macaroons really are the best . I tried a white truffle one...which might sound weird, but it was a.ma.zing!!!! I needed it after what we've been going through the past few days. arimaythea Your comment about the sheet mask vs face mask cracked me up! 😂. I love my sheet masks so much...I wouldn't put it past myself to wear one in public some day. I am still sheet masking every night - esp through this ordeal. It helps relieve my stress - I love sheet masks sooooooo much. I also give them as Christmas presents to my employees, so they're all hooked (even the guys) now. 😁

thatgirlrachel you can also change baby's diaper in between sides to wake him up enough to finish the other side.

DH just found out our TB blood test results - everyone is negative!!!! 👍👍👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉😁😁😁😁😁
Since our exposure was about 1 week ago, the doctors are recommending we get retested in 2 weeks, and then tested a 3rd time 8 weeks after that. This is just to be double, triple sure. We don't want to miss a diagnosis and not get treatment if we end up having latent infections.
According to the infectious disease doctor at our hospital, the results strongly indicate that DH, myself, and DS do NOT have active or inactive TB - the test is over 95% accurate. Huge relief. No more wearing face masks and DS can go back to school next week. I can also breastfeed the baby without issue when he shows up. That was really stressing me out.
I know I'll have the 2 week and 8 week re-test in the back of my head, but I can manage it and I'm going to force myself not to spiral on it. Just so happy with the news we got.

parma986 I'm so sorry you've been through TB exposure scares too. It really is stressful. I hope you don't have any more exposures in the future, but I know working in the health care field, that's not always possible. Thanks for sharing your experience though - makes me feel better.

Can you give a 4 year old Unisom? Uhhh also asking for a friend. Why do you wake up at 4am child? I 100% said to myself last night that I would totally give my 2 yo sleeping medicine if it was available to me. I wouldn't even believe myself if I wasn't living through it but he sleeps like a newborn. He wakes up crying at least 3 times a night needing intervention and tries to get up between 4:30-5. It's truly awful and reducing the quality of our lives. I'm emailing that sleep consultant I used. If I was a celebrity I'd pay someone to deal with him between 7pm -7am for sure. The sleep deprivation coming up is something I'm not looking forward to with the newborn 😭

I just DIY a pumping bra. My life will never be the same Please share DIY instructions. Please and thank you 😚 I bought a 2 pack of sports bras from target (most people use old ones they have already. I didn't have any that still fit to use.) ..put the flange inside over my nipple...cut a small hole in the bra and pushed the outside of the flange through the hole...attach the other pieces of the pump...and voila. I have my hands and posture!!

Taitai I love fancy high teas! Especially around the holidays and when they also include a glass of champagne! Ps I'll be at your alma mater this weekend for a football game and customer entertaining! Add me to the high tea crowd! Not biased but SEA and Japan really are stellar with the high teas they put out, as good or even better than the English cream teas. Next time I go home, I'm going to drag the whole family to one of these at a posh hotel and won't break the bank doing it 😅

I'm going to eat a plate of spaghetti and meatballs sometime next week and it's not even a favorite of mine but I seriously miss a good ol bagel. My body just hates processing refined carbs now...I even tried wholegrain spaghetti and my blood sugar went up. Ice cream...no issues...super weird. Macarons is what I'm assuming you guys are talking about 😜 Is super yum! And other than sugar, 1 should be ok? I haven't made them in a while but usually do after Xmas with my leftover eggwhites from cookie making. 🤢 With horrid breath! Drink water people!

That is an interesting flavor! I cannot imagine the savory note with sweet? Im like suddenly thinking of PH Ispahan! So utterly luxuriously magnificent piece of dessert. Sorry! You utterly lost me at food talk. 😝 I clearly have a problem with food.

I finally did end up getting a proper pumping bra which was much needed for goIng back to work.

I was miserable and still falling asleep. I finally gave in and tried it. Now I'm never turning back!
