I just made a bowl of Ramen noodles. Not like Nope. I made My stomach feels super queasy today and I threw up dinner, so some lame comfort-y food shall hopefully help.

I just had some of those a couple days ago! It didn't sit as well as I'd hoped but it was kind of comforting. It's probably been 10 years since I had them.

(I'm preparing to get shunned) I could take or leave CFA. It's nothing special. Most cases I'd prefer going to Burger King instead. This is me too. The food is fine but it is not something I would drive out of the way to get. DH always says he feels like he needs to eat two meals there to be satisfied so he is not a huge fan.

I drain the liquid after it's cooked completely. I actually let it sit in my bowl/cup with the broth for about 10 minutes and the noodles absorb all the broth and salt/flavor.
SO GOOD.
If I'm feeling fancy, I add a touch of sesame oil to it...
Also - you all didn't tell me how good Steak n Shake is... I totally ate the entire burger, and fries, AND took home a Nutella milkshake. And even though I was full, I wanted another burger for later, but I resisted. I'm sad because we don't have this in NoVA.

I think I may have H meet me there tomorrow for lunch now. Or go on Wednesday before my eye appointment. Or both.

They're the nicest people on the planet. I love going there with my toddler because they are insanely helpful. The chicken tastes like real food, and the fruit and salads are super fresh and delicious. Did you try the Polynesian sauce?? Or the lemonade or sweet tea? The whole experience is way more pleasant than any other fast food. Can you tell I love CFA?

katietopaz, once, the worker noticed my mom only had fruit & fries and asked no sandwich (she doesn't eat chicken) while we were there. He chatted her for a few minutes & then somehow it came up that she was going to go grab a coffee, he asked how she took it & came back with a large for free.

I haven't found CFA employees to be any particularly more helpful/nice/whatev than most other places. The chicken tastes like pretty much any other chicken anywhere else, haven't had the fruit or salad. Polynesian sauce is decent, but not worth the specific trip. I'm generally a fan of lemonade, so if it's tart and not basically Minute Maid lemonade, I'd probably like it. The ones I have been to across the country just haven't made an impression on me. Seems seriously like walking into a chicken-themed Wendy's.

Either that, or I'm jealous of how nice/helpful the people at your other fast food restaurants are. You'll just have to come visit and I'll take you to one of these magical CFAs where stories like tinyjoys above are really common. It looks like CFA came up over in the big UO thread on GD (which I still want to call Parenting)

Wtf am I going to do for dinner? I hate food right now. I’m about to go get a whopper. Is that helpful? I will also be making pizza casserole tonight and I’m prettyyyyy excited about it. DD will eat a huge bowl of it and never know there’s a billion veggies in it. tinyjoys our CFA is the same way. They always bring my food to me and help me get DD settled. Some one even goes around and asks if you need refills. When she was little, the little cups of Cheerios and the placemats were life savers.

cornpop Not an exact recipe, but I’ll pay attention to the amounts when I make it this evening and update! It’s very “throw whatever we have in the fridge in there.” Put all of this in a 9x13: Ground turkey or beef, drained Lightly sautéed mushrooms, zucchini, and onions Mozzarella Spaghetti squash, cooked but very al dente Can of diced tomatoes, drained Tomato or pasta sauce Optional: spinach, sausage, pepperoni, bell peppers, ricotta Sprinkle top with a little more cheese and then lay a pizza crust over it. Bake at 350 or so until the top is browned and you can kind of see the inside bubbling. It’s kind of weird but very very comforting and kids are usually super into it. We usually serve with a side salad and the leftovers are really good. DH never really had casseroles (or as we jokingly call it: white people food, including anything made with mayo, any non-veggie salad, etc) and he is OBSESSED with casseroles now. It’s absolutely hilarious. I make a chicken pot pie version of the pizza casserole and it’s his favorite food.

Have def taken a handful so I can keep them in the diaper bag to use at other restaurants...

Last night when packing lunches I made the most amazing PB&J and I was so excited because it sounded just so amazing and I kept licking the knife and dreaming of lunch today. Today I take out my PB&J and am all "why the fuck did I make a PB&J for lunch. what is this lame crap?"

Unless you're LGBTQ+ of course, in which case their history of so-called "family values" might make you unwelcome. I've heard the food is great, but you'll never find me in one.
