I'm working from home with my mom here. The morning was not a lot of working but right now I'm on a webinar for something that is already consider myself experienced in. But my manager is making us sit on it anyway bc they went out of the way to arrange the training.
I have to do this every day this week.
Oh. And the participants tab of the webinar shows if you're not "active" on their page. In other words I can't screw around. BUT I still have my cell phone muahuahua

I am so bored with my job. It's the same shit everyday. I basically spend half my day chasing people down trying to get them to send me the paperwork I need (the same paperwork I need for every GD invoice and after several years of this shit you think they would know to just send it to me automatically) and the other half of the day spacing out.
I've noticed that after about 2-3 years in the same position I get incredibly bored and ready for a change. Is that normal? Part of me wants a more challenging job, but the other lazy part of me doesn't want to do that much work.

Morning.
B had his first day of therapy. It went well! He wasn’t shy with the therapist and played with her the entire time without any issues. She said it was a great first session. I hope it continues this way!
I have chicken tortilla soup going in the crockpot and laundry started. It’s going to be another 90 degree day so I think we’ll be indoors.

jubilantsquirrel I think that is normal. I was the same way when I worked. I was so burnt out by the 3rd year I needed a change so I applied for a different position within the company. Unfortunately, my company was small and there wasn’t a lot of room for growth. So I would have been stuck there if I didn’t leave and decide to SAH. Is there another position within the company you could apply for? I’m also the same with cars. Hence he reason I always lease.

Really the only position I could move to is Accounts Receivable and no thank you to that. They are basically collections and management never lets up on them. There's weekly emails showing where everyone is at in their collection amounts and at the end of the month the emails are daily. Not to mention the numerous meetings they all have about collecting money. I would never be able to handle that.

I just spent $91 at Dollarama (most things cost $1 however some stuff costs up to $4, if you're not familiar with it). I got stuff to make a nice Fall wreath, some Halloween decorations, and some stuff for H's birthday party. We decided to keep it to family and are doing Halloween theme, so I picked up some "colour your own mask" wooden masks on a stick, some badges for Best/Scariest/Silliest Costume, Halloween colouring books for favours, and Halloween cupcakke liners.

kleigh, that's hilarious that they keep tabs on who is "active!" Glad your phone can come to the rescue jubilantsquirrel, yeah I think that's normal. You're a smart person and this isn't stimulating for you. Do you think you will start to look for something else? waitwhat so glad to hear B's therapy went well!! danib those are cute ideas! I bet it will be a fun party.

How fun danib! I always wished I had a Halloween birthday so I could do Halloween themed parties when I was a kid. Cheshie6, I hope you feel better soon!

I'm grumpy today. Our office manager decided to have IT reconfigure our firewall this morning, which meant that no one could get online to do any work for the entire morning. So, now that it's noon, I am only just getting started on the heaping pile of shit I have to do this week. I'm so stressed out and so fucking sick of this bullshit that regularly occurs at my office. There is no reason--none--that this could not have been handled over the weekend.

Speaking of getting sick, DS1 threw up twice yesterday. Once in the morning when he woke up and then again right before bed when MH was reading him bedtime stories. Poor kid. No fever though, so I guess that's good. Hopefully it was just a one day stomach bug.

dashook, I look around every couple of weeks. But I'm being picky because overall this job isn't awful and my manager kind of forgets he even has a team he needs to manage, so we're all left on our own, which I really like. So while I'm bored out of my mind, there are other aspects of this job that I like.

@junilantsquirrel I've been with this firm for 13 years. I don't particularly care for my job, but I have a lot of flexibility here and I can't give that up right now. I'm also really good at what I do.
MH gets annoyed at jobs easily. I mean, I think every job has a down side, but if the pros outweigh the cons, I'd stick it out.
These days I don't think people stick around long term like they used to 30 years ago, you know?

Hi, from a legislative update meeting downtown. This shit is so boring. Luckily I'm in the back so I can be in my phone.
Hopefully I don't fall asleep. I may have drank too much wine last night...

I sent MH some annoyed texts this morning (W managed to clog the toilet with TP and after Indiana Jones-ing around the house for 20 minutes with K screaming I still couldn't find the plunger). He decided I was in such a state he had to come home from work to help me. I told him multiple times not to.
Anyways, he is working from home "to help". Has done exactly nothing to help.
I'm not mad I'm just laughing. If you just wanted to WFH say that. Don't make it about me.

jubilantsquirrel, people definitely don't stick around in positions as long as they used to, 3-5 years is about what's common at my company. I think if the pros outweigh the cons, stick it out for now and something better might just come along later. Can you make your current job better for yourself? I just went through a Yellow Belt training the other week, so your comment of, something should automatically be required makes me think, kaizen that and make it a standard process so it makes your life easier. Do you think your boss would be in support of you making some changes?

kleigh They make us do the same stupid training every year and I always just let it play in the background until the test portion. I don't think I read any of the one from last week. Oh well. jubilantsquirrel +1 to being bored with work. I've been doing this job for 6 years now. There are definitely OK parts like how flexible my boss is and the fact that at least I KNOW the job, but it's just so boring and repetitive. And hell no to that receivables job! waitwhat Yay so glad his first session went well! dashook I was going to say it seems like you're always dealing with IT issues. That's so annoying that they do it during the week like that. Cheshie6 Hope whatever you have goes away quickly! I've been feeling a little off lately too so I'm probably getting whatever C has. OMG tgrimes just that sentence is putting me to sleep lol. Ugh starbuck that is annoying. Does he actually think he's helping?

Oh and hi. I don't have much to add right now. Just another dumb Monday at work. I'm exhausted. I wanted to go to bed early last night but then H told me he got a 40% off Kohl's coupon and it seemed like a waste not to use it. So of course I bought more baby clothes and a couple shirts for myself that probably won't fit. I also have about $200 worth of shirts in my Amazon cart. I'm guessing I'll be returning at least half of them.

tgrimes, definitely. Whenever I have a bad day I just remind myself that the bad days here are still better than the good days at my previous job. tjanca22, I've been able to get a couple of branches to send me the paperwork automatically. Part of the issue is that the branches have been consolidated and there's been a lot of turn over. Just when I get someone in the habit of sending me paperwork they leave the company or change positions or something. I actually try to limit my managers involvement, honestly. I know that sounds bad but he doesn't really understand the work our team does and therefore doesn't really know how to help.

goldenlove I have no idea. Maybe he will quit working a little early and actually help? Truthfully, I was a little offended when he told me he was coming home. He said "it's only 8:30 and you're already on the ledge." Like what? No. I'm annoyed that apparently the toilet plunger is more valuable than gold and therefore hidden. And instead of being able to deal with the lady screambox I am spending twenty minutes digging through the garage and searching the basement and every bathroom. The text that triggered him to work from home was me saying I give up looking for the plunger. So..."on the ledge"? No.

Happier things. I am making salmon cakes for dinner for the first time ever. The twins are asleep so I am in the middle of prep work now. It's an adventure because the recipe calls for Old Bay and guess what I don't have? So I pulled up an internet approximation and used that. I don't know how this is going to turn out lol

starbuck I'm laughing at Indiana Jonesing it around but pissed at your situation. I feel like...MH is not an asshole nor does he shit on my feelings for fun. But he's a little oblivious and I don't know that he 100% understands what it's like to be me since the twins came.
