I know at this point in our pregnancies (or newborn time!) cooking isn't a big priority, but is anyone still meal planning? What's on your plan for the week if you are?

Hijacking a bit - I'm not a meal planner but I am a recent convert to the crockpot. If anyone wants to share some recipes that are particularly tasty in the crockpot, I will gladly take the recommendations!

Yes, but I doubt you can even call it that since I make one meal and eat it for like 3 days since it's just me right now.
Today I'm making some slow cooker soup that should feed me for a while and some 'sloppy joe grilled cheese'

Maybe sausage, peppers, onions, and potatoes tonight. That's all I got for now.
I want to be better at meal planning.

I don't know, I made some crockpot potato soup yesterday and it was questionable. If I find a good one, I'll send it your way lol

cythe, I've tried 2 things so far in the crockpot - a mac and cheese and a chicken pot pie-inspired stew. The mac and cheese was just eh, which bummed me out because I love mac and cheese. The stew was tasty, but I read a ton of reviews of all the things people changed in it to make my own frankensteined version of the recipe instead of making it as-is.

All really easy, I've got no interest or energy in fancy meals right now.
*Jerk chicken rice bowls *Stromboli, Caesar salad *Fettuccini Alfredo w/chicken+broccoli, breadsticks *Chicken+chorizo paella *French toast bake w/ bacon and fruit * Burgers, baked beans, cottage cheese

Tagging my good friend katespade who has the best crock pot mac & cheese recipe. It's even better when you add a can of green chiles to it.

I keep meaning to try it with bacon or pepperoni, but I haven't yet! Anyway, here is the recipe: www.sixsistersstuff.com/recipe/2013/01/slow-cooker-creamy-macaroni-and-cheese/And I usually add a small can of diced green chiles.

Thanks mkrupar and katespade! The recipe I tried did not involve boiling the noodles first, which I think was its downfall. The taste of starchy noodles overwhelmed the cheese. This one looks more promising!

This one looks more promising! I've not tried this particular recipe, but one of the freezer meals I made this weekend was from the same website and it tasted excellent. So, it's got that going for it!

Thanks mkrupar and katespade! The recipe I tried did not involve boiling the noodles first, which I think was its downfall. The taste of starchy noodles overwhelmed the cheese. This one looks more promising! I just slightly underboil the pasta. It's not quite al dente but not completely boiled, that way it finishes cooking in the crockpot. I was skeptical of a crockpot pasta recipe but it's great and easy to double if you have a big event. This recipe and my artichoke dip are the two things I consistently get asked to bring to parties/events.

One of these days we'll have to chat Paleo/Primal Bluprint/Keto foods. Yes! I was doing a Keto style diet before this pregnancy, but at a certain point I just couldn't stick to it anymore and gave in to all the things. H has been doing pretty well though, and I hope to get back on track after baby arrives.

We started doing it last fall, but then first tri really screwed me up, then the GD diet required so many carbs to maintain and not lose weight, that I just had to stop.

I always have to meal plan otherwise we'd have nothing to eat! or eat crap! Anyways assuming bubs doesn't show up today or anytime this week otherwise, we'll be hitting the frozen meals! This is what we have which isn't exciting at all. mommabakes , your menu always looks so good! M: Grilled Steak & Zucchini + Cheddar Biscuits ( DS ) T: Chicken Cassoulet, Steam Broccoli + Sourdough Bread W: Rotisserie Chicken, Sauteed Sugar snap peas, Fusili ( DS ) T: Left over Rotisserie Chicken, Steam brocolette, oven roasted potatoes F: Roasted Chicken with Spinach & Artichokes, Alphabet pasta ( DS ) DS usually gets the additional carb, hubs and I pretty much eat protein and vegetables. Hubs hates carbs - he's a weird healthnut with virtually hardly any body fat however I am sure he'll eat a vat of Mac n Cheese if I make it and honestly so will I which is the problem so I just never make it. DS' only had mac and cheese once last Xmas at MILs ( frozen kind unfortunately ) and yesterday he ate all his Mac n Cheese in school! I doubt he remember eating it almost a year ago and he said it was delicious so I guess I'll have to make it sometime now. Thanks for the recipe.. Will have to check it out and sounds like great comfort food when the weather gets cold. SaveSave

We roasted an 8lb chicken and tons of root veggies in Sunday and have been eating it the last 2 days. I have stuff to make chicken thighs and breaded chicken and a bunch of veggies and salad. I'll just throw stuff together tomorrow and Thursday. I'm hoping for pizza on Friday. Love all the crockpot recipes. I'm going to try the mac n cheese.
