Oh my, I read pretty much the entire children library, so listing all my favs would be impossible. My absolute favorite as a kid was Ella Enchanted. Also, the movie is probably the worst movie ever made from a book. I also loved anything by: Louis Sachar (wayside!) Rohld Dahl Robin McKinley The Magic Tree House books The giver, to kill a mockingbird, bridge to terabithia all amazing Anne of Green Gables is my spirit animal One of my all time favorite books no one has ever heard of is Mara Daughter of the Nile. The Joona Trilogy was life changing His dark materials trilogy on audio book because the second two books were full cast and amazingly done. Ok, I'll quit now. I was a homeschooled only child, I read a lot Aw sassy I was a homeschool too! From grades 4-12.

So C has two different sets of Amelia Bedelia books and neither are the version I had as a kid. One is about a young girl in school, I think written by the original writer's son or something. They are ok, but kind of long when it is the third book I have to read at bedtime, and they get annoying when read over and over. The other ones she has are about the maid, but are edited to be more early reader style and that is super annoying to me and makes the story not as good. The originals were some of my favorite books as a kid, so I am a little disappointed.

The A Wrinkle in Time series. Goosebumps Shakespeare (I had a wonderful illustrated version my bro got me when I was about 7/8) American Girl (Felicity and Molly) Mrs. Piggle Wiggle Scary Stories Ghost in the Big Brass Bed Indian in the Cupboard A Separate Peace (high school) Pride and Prejudice (high school)
I had a love of horror early on but don't read it as and adult.

Babysitter's Club Encyclopedia Brown American Girl (I owned the Felicity books) Indian in the Cupboard My Teacher is an Alien Christopher Pike books Goosebumps Choose your own Adventure Sideways Stories from Wayside School Cam Jansen Anne of Green Gables (and all the following books about her kids and grandkids) Not a kids' series, but I loved the "The Cat Who..." mysteries by Lillian Jackson Braun when I was 11 or 12. Harry Potter, although I don't think I started the series until I was 13 or 14.
I was a voracious reader as a kid and read practically anything I could get my hands on. I was heavily influenced by what my older brother and sister were into- brother liked the "My Teacher is an Alien" and "Indian in the Cupboard" books, Sister had all the Babysitters' Club books and Christopher Pike.

Indian in the Cupboard
Song of the Lioness Quartet by Tamora Pierce, I discovered this fantasy series in fourth grade and I read them so many times the covers fell off, and I bought a new set to take to college with me ten years later.
Most of the Redwall series by Brian Jacques, but he did go on a little long so I'm sure I missed a couple after like, book 10.
The Swallows & Amazons series
The Flambards trilogy by K.M. Peyton, which I think was out of print even then and maybe now with Amazon is available again?
Guys, Harry Potter came out when I was a senior in high school, and I did not discover the series until I was in college. Those of you who read those books "as kids" are making me feel OOOOLLLLLDDDD.

Saddle Cbub, Thoroughbred series, Judy Blume books, Beverly Cleary books, Lowis Lowery books, Mr. Pine's Purple House. I also read like crazy. I generally could finish a book in a day.
Also FYI the giver is a 4 part series. Most of which came out after I was an adult, but for all you Giver lovers out there, go read the rest of the series if you haven't yet.

I liked gathering blue a lot, but I felt like the other two in the series were not on the same level. I actually disliked one, but I can't remember which one. The giver was just so special and significant, and I felt the more she wrote the less on Pointe they were. All that said, I'm still glad I read them all.

I also remember being mad at one of the books. I think it was Messenger, but maybe Son. I was also glad I read them though. I think some of the inconsistencies come from the 1st and last book being written almost 20 years apart. I almost feel like I liked the Giver so much more than the others because I first read it when I was the age of most of the characters, versus being and adult reading the last 3. My life perspective has changed so much in that time. Especially with regards to Son.

I forgot about Beverley Cleary and Judy Blume! I loved the Ramona books, and Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing and its sequels. Fudge was my favorite character. Oh, and The Face on The Milk Carton by Caroline B Cooney, and some of her other books. I definitely went through a YA thriller phase.

I may be having a Mandela effect moment, but does anyone else remember reading a book about this girl who goes on this field trip (or somewhere on a bus) and then they drive through a forest and something happens and she's transported to this fantasy world, and there's something about harpies?

Hah! I found it. It's apparently called The Seventh Princess. Okay, so since I found that, does anyone remember reading a book about a mermaid girl, who was actually half human but she didn't know it. They all lived in this underwater city that was surrounded by a dome (I think?), and her and a friend of hers used the pipes to get around. Part of their training was having to go into a dry room to read scrolls, and she was always the best. The ending was her going up to land to try to find her mother after her city was attacked, and there was maybe 2 more books in the series. It may have been a Scholastic book? I've been trying to find this book FOREVER and I can't remember the name and my google fu is lacking

I remember this book I was really into in HS, I actually think it might have been Christian chick-lit... who said they read that genre? DGM ? Not my usual genre at all but the only book that has ever made me cry-- it was called Pretense. I recommend it to anyone who is into that genre. Sorry not sorry for reviving a zombie thread but see the Paging DGM thread for my reason LOL. Anyway, I didn't start reading Christian chick lit until I was in my 20's so I don't know that book but will check it out. My favorite childhood books in elementary school were Choose Your Own Adventure and the Ramona Quimby series. In junior high (mid-1980's so a lot of you probably weren't born yet), I was obsessed with the Sweet Valley High books.

DS loves the magic tree house books and we are reading a super cool series. Nathanial Fludd/Beastologist. I feel like I had a lot of Disney collections and in general, collections of short stories and so on. I find them horrible (sometimes racist, always weirdly offensive) and threw out a lot of books that my Mom meticulously saved for me.
