avocadotoast enjoy your date night! I'm glad you enjoyed the acupuncture! When I went to try to help with IF she told me 'I was winter down there and nothing grows in winter'...lol...I still laugh about that! She (and a naturopath we went to for a while) could tell a lot of our overall health by looking at your tongue. So random, but she was always bang on!

Hi!
I've been non stop all day. I had a haircut, dd got her first haircut, had to run to the craft store, got the kids down for a nap and then my dad came home from the hospital!
I started working on the table numbers for the wedding and finished them. Finally!

Can I get some advice? FIL texted DH a few weeks ago telling him he's having a 50th birthday party for MIL on Saturday 9/30 & he'd love for us to be there. It's 11 hours without stops but we decided to do it...We're going to leave Friday morning (like 3am) the 29th, stay Saturday for the party and then leave super early Sunday morning (like, no later than 4am) to come back. We have to be back because DH has meetings on Monday. Also DS has school and he's already missing Friday.
We find out today that they're expecting at least 50 people at the house and the party starts at 7pm Saturday. UGH. Why is it so late?! It's annoying that we're driving so far and the party doesn't even start until like, almost bedtime for the girls. Between the long drive to and from and the late/loud party the night before we need to head back, DH is ready to tell his dad it's not going to work for us...I'm inclined to agree with him but I know everyone is all excited to see us and they will be upset. WWYD?
I also looked at airfare, but that starts at $1000 round trip, before bags and seats, so driving is the only option.

jess213 I'd do it but I'm a weirdo. Sounds similar to what we just did to chicago. 10 hours each way (that's including stops) and 23 hours there. You'll be able to hang out Friday night with family and all day Saturday. But then again, it's your H's parents and if he's thinking no then I'd just follow that lead.

momololo...I'll follow his lead definitely. I should add I'm feeling a little butthurt that we've been in MI for 2 years and they have yet to come here. We're always expected to go there. We have 3 little ones and it'd be nice if they came here every once in awhile. It's no problem for them to fly to Italy or Miami or Orlando or California but apparently flights from the NY metro area to Detroit just don't exist. So yeah... I'm feeling petty and ready to bail.

jess213, that sounds like way to much effort and driving for a few hours. And especially if there will be 50 people there, it's not as though you would get lots of close family time with MIL anyway. I would guess that there'd be last minute planning/ prep in Friday and early Saturday too. I vote that you send your regrets and some beautiful flowers and make plans to visit at a more convenient time.

Oh yeah I'd be annoyed if that was the situation too. In that case, I'd pass on this trip and extend an invite for them to come visit you!

Baby boy #4 came on Thursday morning at 36 weeks 4 days. We were transferred to a bigger hospital with a nicu, but just graduated to the peds floor. I'm hoping to get released tomorrow, just waiting on one more test to come back. It's been crazy. I have a newfound respect for all the nicu moms out there! Baby Stephen is the absolute cutest ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) If I were cooler, I would be able to share a pic but I'm technologically challenged.

jess213, I would not go. I like the FT idea. Based on what you said, it sounds like they didn't think you would be able to come anyway. Really I think the party and them not visiting are two separate issues. Has your DH mentioned them not coming down hurts his feelings?

How are you doing skinandbones? Are the littlest feeling better? Has work slowed for you? How's band management going?

skinandbones, no they definitely knew we were coming before the time was set. When DH first talked to FIL he didn't have any information, just the date. I agree that the party and them not visiting are two separate issues...this has been simmering for quite some time and I feel like we're expected to go out of our way, but it's never reciprocated, you know? I know DH has said things like, "it'd be nice if you came here" and they always say how they want to come out. We always respond that we'd love to have them and the kids would be so psyched! Then it sort of fizzles from there :/ We need to have a sitdown about this...

jess213 I wouldn't do it. That sounds like a miserable trip for very little quality time. Plus them not visiting you makes it more unappealing to me.
