Is there something that you recently acquired or just have it your life that you love and you think that other people should love too?

The impetus for this thread is the Thermacell bug repeller that we just bought. It's got a little bug repellent pad that, when heated, keeps bugs away for about 15 feet in all directions. And the amazing thing, as long as you give it a little time to get going, it really works. It has no smell and we can just sit outside and enjoy ourselves. They make many different versions (lantern, torch, etc) but ours is a little handheld thing that you can even hang on your belt loop or backpack if you're out hiking. I really love it.

As I'm scratching a layer of skin off from mosquito bites, I appreciate this review.

Remember when I won a bouncy house in a silent auction but thought I was bidding on rental? Well it may be the best thing ever. It kept 5 kids going all afternoon yesterday. 7 of you count the babies who also loved it.

mathrun Oooh, you like the gel cumulus 18??? I have the 17 and it saved running for me. Best. Shoe. Ever. But I had heard that the 18 wasn't as good as the 17?? Thoughts?

I agree that gel cumulus shoes are the best ever. The 18s do fit a little smaller than the 17s. So I went up 1/2 size. But other than that I like them just as well as the 17s. Actually maybe better because I got holes where my big toe hits the mesh part in all three pairs of 17s I bought. I'm on my second pair of 18s and so far no holes. ETA: after thinking about it a bit, it does seem to take me a little longer to break the 18s in than it did the 17s. But I usually wear them sporadically for a few weeks before I use them for running. So I hadn't really noticed until I thought about it.

Were you...stepping on the garlic before?? Because that's what I'm picturing and it's cracking me up.

Placing the blade flat on it and pushing down to smash the garlic and free the skin. So the fear was the knife would slip and cut my wrist or something. Is there another safer, easier way of doing it? Have I truly been lied to my whole life??

I just use my hands. I lay the whole bulb on the counter on its side and lean hard into it. The whole bulb comes apart and much of the skin comes with it. I peel off the easy skins, then I repeat with any cloves that the skin is still stuck too. I prefer crushing with my hands than my knife because I have more control. Once the clove actually smashes and the sticky juices come out, it's harder to get the skin off.

Oh and I should add that different garlic varieties are VERY different in peelability. So different tactics work differently for different varieties.

I am obsessed with Torrid premium leggings. They are comfy and high-waisted and thick enough that it smooths your legs a little and you can kinda get away with wearing them as pants. They run a size small (I'm glad I asked the cashier, she recommended getting a size bigger than I usually get), so a size 00 would fit non-plus size persons (size 10 or so). And they have sales all the damn time, so I got two pairs for like $35.

I'm really loving our portable speaker DH bought last summer. It has been perfect to bring outside while working outside and not wanting earphones.
