Get in here and start talking Halloween. It is by far my favorite holiday and I usually go all out. Please AW any costume ideas or things you've done in the past. I need ideas.

This is also my favorite holiday, and we go all out too. It was one of the best parts about meeting DH, he loves it as much as I do. We started doing "couple costumes" from our very first Halloween together (Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf).
LBB was born Oct. 2, so for his first Halloween we just all wore footie pajamas. I guess you could say we were babies?
2012 - Sarah, Jareth, and Toby from Labyrinth
2013 - Barney, Betty, and Bam Bam Rubble. (LBB was SUPER blonde)
2014 - This was the first year he picked his own costume (he was 3) and he picked Wilson from Chuggington. DH and I went as "train engineers."
2015 - LBB was Ironman, BH (4 months old) was Tony Stark, I was Pepper Potts, and DH was Nick Fury.
2016 - Lion Guard: LBB was Kion, BH was Ono, I was Fuli, and DH was Beshte.
This year LBB and DH are dressing up as vampires. BH and I are going to be vampire hunters. Or as BH says "Boo hunters."

I did a monkey costume last year. I wanted to do another animal but DH wants to do Princess Leia. I'm struggling to find a costume that I think will fit her that isn't super expensive.

Last year DD had two costumes: unicorn and Yoda. This year we are thinking Elmo. DH and I don't really dress up.

DS1 isn't really into costumes. He's going to be Superman this year. I have no idea about tje baby or H and I.
Last year he was a lion and I was a fish bowl because I was 8 months pregnant. The year before that (2015) he was a ninja turtle, I was a scarecrow and MH was The Dude. We didn't do anything for 2014.

I have no idea what DS is going to be for Halloween yet. We'll probably let him help us pick it out this year now that he's old enough to make his opinions known--I could see him picking out a superhero or a dinosaur.
He was Yoda for his first Halloween (he was only two months old, so I put on his Yoda hat and wrapped him in one of DH's shirts for just long enough to take a picture), a minion the next year, and a firefighter last year.

DS was a dragon his first Halloween (2015), and last year he was an astronaut. No clue what he'll be this year yet, I think we will take him to one of those pop-up Halloween stores and let him help pick - my guess is he'd want to be something Paw Patrol or train related since those are his two major obsessions, but we'll see what we find. I have zero creative ability to craft a costume. H and I don't really dress up, I can't even really think of an occasion we went to a costume party since we've been together.

Last year LO was a witch. I think this is prob the last year that she gets no say in the costume... I am torn between Princess Poppy from trolls (LO loves is it), or a cowgirl (LO loves her hat and says Hee Haw all the time).

Mh is not a huge fan of costumes and it's a fight every year to get him to do something. Last year was the first year I got him to do a themed family costume. My mom got K some little fairy wings and I made her a little tutu skirt out of an elastic and some bulk tulle I found at Walmart. I crocheted myself dragon wings and sewed them onto a hoodie I had, which was a good idea in theory but the weight of the fabric was a lot so by the end of the night they were really droopy. I got mh a wizard hat and he wore his bathrobe, because I told him all he had to do was wear a damn hat. I got some push back, but he did wear it.

Last year DS was a puppy and it was adorable. This year he's being Spider-Man... LOL Does he know who spider man is? I've been trying to teach K the names of Star Wars charachters. For a while, she called Obi Wan Kenobi "daddy". lol Omg, you should go as a spider in it's web with your belly being the spider's body and you can stick the eight legs around it!

K is obsessed with Cookie Monster and Elmo right now but I don't know if she would get it if it was costume. I originally wanted to dress us up as a family of BeatBos. I could make the ears into a head band and then get white shirts and paint them the different tummy colors. I'm overly concerned that noone would have any idea WTF we were, but it's not like we are going anywhere except around the neighborhood.

He calls him "idey" 😂 Which I think is his attempt at Spidey haha. When we went to Florida we got him a Spider-Man plush toy and he seeps with it in his crib. That and Mickey are probably the only cartoon characters he knows. Mic won't sit still for more than two seconds so he hasn't been exposed to many characters in kids shows (yet). And hey that's a good idea! I was trying to think of something pretty easy and that will work! Lol

2013- DD was 4mo, 3 weeks post open heart survey, she was a Tootsie Roll. 2014- Halloween was during my Honeymoon, DD was a Gingerbread Man. 2015- DS was 1mo. We did Little Mermaid: DD was Ariel, DH was the Prince, I was the "ocean" and carried DS in a carrier that was covered to look like Flounder. 2016- Cinderella: DD was Cinderella, DS was Gus the Mouse, DH was the Prince, I was the Fairy Godmother.
2017- I want to do Beauty and Beast but I'm not sure how to pick which characters to do, there are just so many. DD wants to be Belle, so that is easy. I've been thinking about DS being Beast, because cute. But idk what I want me and DH to be. Suggestions?

sheilathetank, I guess Mrs. Potts and chip would be cute but I'm not in love with it. DH would make a decent Gaston, it would be easy. But if he is Gaston, who do I go as? I thought about DH being Maurice, but again, who do I go as?

Both of my kids were pumpkins their first Halloween (PBK, so I was going to get 2 uses out of it)
I can not for the life of me remember what DD was for her second Halloween, oh my gosh, what is wrong with my brain.
Last year DD was a rider on a dinosaur.
No ideas yet for this year. Neither kid will wear a hat, so that cuts down on the options.

blackcat, I would do Lumiere and Cogsworth. Or Lumiere and Mrs. Potts. Keep with the Beast's castle theme.

I love love Halloween and am so excited to celebrate it this year! DS is also obsessed with pumpkins and "spooky skeletons." He is 2.5 this year, so I think he will kind of get it this time around. Last year we couldn't do anything, because the country where I live was in a period of mourning (no parties or costume dress up at school...all the expat Halloween gatherings were cancelled). This year things are back to normal though, and the place where we live is having a huge halloween party for expats, with decorations, trick or treating, bounce houses, etc. I can't wait! DS will be a doctor. Since LO is due on 20 Oct, DS' doctor scrubs say "big brother" on them. It is super hot where we live, so we also figured light cotton scrubs with short sleeves and a stethoscope would be the least sweaty option for DS. Don't want to put him in some polyester padded thing where he will sweat profusely in the 90+ degree heat. I have a pumpkin orange woombie for LO, and will put a light weight green cotton cap on him - so he'll be a little pumpkin 🎃 DH and I don't dress up, but maybe we'll do a family themed costume sometime in the future. I loved Halloween as a kid and can't wait to start yearly Halloween traditions with DS1 and DS2.

I've had a couple of great ideas for family costumes but my H is a big party pooper.
-1st halloween, L was a frog -2nd one, he was a panda -this year I have a Tigger costume for both him and the baby (hand me downs) but not sure he'll actually wear it. Maybe the day of, when I tell him if he wears it he can go outside and ask for candy. that kid loves candy.
L has also been a snowman and an elf...just cause I like dressing him up for the season. lol.

H and I aren't into dressing up in general, but talked about family costumes for V's sake. I love your idea of the spider web for a costume I could wear, and V would love that too (he also loves bugs, especially spiders). H could be one of the villains or another superhero.

Last year (about 17 months old) we went with things V liked. He was a puppy for my school Halloween ball, and then a (motorcycle) biker for actual Halloween. The previous year (5 months old) he and Budders both wore bee costumes.

Last year DS (1.5) picked robot and stuck with it, so DH made him a robot costume from a cardboard box. It was super cute and easy.
This year at 2.5, DS keeps going back & forth between construction worker & dinosaur. Nephew was a dinosaur last year so SIL is loaning us that. DS already has a hard hat, so I figure I'll grab an orange safety vest and then he can be either dinosaur or construction worker as he chooses.
His first Halloween (almost 8 months old) he was Charlie Brown. My mom made him the shirt & he carried a Snoopy stuffed animal.

She carries it all over the house, gives it hugs and kisses, feeds it, gives it water, lays it down and tells it night night and dances with it (holds it and spins it around). It's like the least cuddly thing ever but LO loves to cuddle it. Lol. I think for ppl who didn't know you were beatbo (anyone without kids) they would get that you were some kind of robot so you would still be ok.

DS is being a chef. I got him one of those Melissa and Doug dress up costumes. He likes to cook in his kitchen so I figure he will get some use out of it. Now I just need to get him white pants and we are good to go.
He was an elephant last year and a shark the year before.
I won't be dressing up because I'll be too pregnant, birthing a baby, or have a newborn. My mom will likely be the one taking ds trick or treating with dh. She tends to dress up in a complimentary costume lol.

We went to Target and H and DS came across a dragon rider costume. I'm going to look for things to make him a knight to go with it or something similar. I was thinking something GOT related, H nixed that. I did have to put the costume away because DS wanted to sleep with it and I need him to still like it in a month.
