Just finished. The scariest thing in the whole episode was the election night coverage. This season will probably just stumble along like the last few with the minimum amount of plot twists to keep people semi-interested. The dialogue is terrible and it all feels a little bit obvious and cheap. I miss Jessica Lange and I don't think Kathy Bates is coming back That said, Sarah Paulson is a goddess and I hope this season is worthy of her. If not, she should move on.

I liked it!! I'm excited to see the direction it takes. It seems like it may be a little Purge-ish

I'm a little peeved about the whole election story line and the clown repeat. I wasn't a fan of last season but pushed through hoping that I'd like it and was disappointed. I think this might be it for me.

Oohh, if it weren't for this place, I'd never know when all my shows start back up. I'm going to watch it today.

I was a little underwhelmed after all the hype, but I'm sure things will get crazy soon. Did I miss how Kai would know Ally's fears? And why he'd send Winter to be their nanny?

I stopped watching halfway through Hotel, but I watch this one because the premise had potential. I was underwhelmed. None of the characters seemed that engaging or interesting and the clown thing has been done before.

Wow I'm kinda surprised I'm the only one that liked it lol. The election thing isn't supposed to be a running theme, it's the base of the "fear" theme. It's what the blue haired guy is using to start his "chaos" stuff. Capitalizing on the fear of everyone. This is my take anyway. Im kind of happy to see Twisty again

I started it but I got too scared to finish it. Yes, I'm a baby when it comes to these things.

What is everyone's favorite season? Mine is definitely Murder House followed closely by Asylum then Coven and Roanoke and then Freak Show and Hotel. I feel like the seasons haven't been well planned since the first two - it's like Ryan Murphy has just decided to throw every scary thing he likes into whatever season he's currently working on.

I feel like this is typical of Ryan Murphy shows in general. The first season or two are great then go downhill. Though I have to say I did enjoy Roanoke last year up until the last couple of episodes.

The only one I didn't like at all was Freak Show. I didn't even finish that season

I loved murder house, but I think that as the show has gone on they rely more on gore and violence than on story telling.

Seriously why do I always get stuck in the box?? Anywho, I think my list goes: Asylum, Murder House, Roanoke, Hotel, Coven, and very very last Freak Show. Didn't like that one at all.

They haven't said how he knows, I'm guessing her therapist may be in the cult? I think so too. Actually, knowing this show Ally's wife is probably involved too.

Murder House and Asylum were great. It's been a gradual decline since. I thought Hotel was better than most seasons. Roanoke sucked so much. I just don't know what happened to this show. I haven't watched episode 1 yet. But I am hoping to sometime this weekend.

I wasn't impressed. I was so distracted by Ivy's eyes. They are so close together. I like more of the supernatural elements like in more of the previous seasons.
Freak Show was the absolute worst. I never finished the season I don't think. I remember the premiere being really graphic and sexual. But mostly for shock value. At least Murphy knows his niche?
I hope this season improves. So far I'm not into it.

I thought the first episode of this season was meh. I'm over the clowns. All of the tiny holes did skeeve me out though!
I'd have to say my favorite season was Murder House. Followed by Coven and Asylum. I started, but haven't finished, Freak Show, Hotel, or Roanoke. I'm hoping to finish this season, but I'm not so sure.

Is Roanoke streaming anywhere? I haven't seen it. I just checked on my Roku and it looks like it's only available for purchase on Amazon and Vudu, no free streaming. The DVD is coming out next month so maybe it will be available around that time.

What was up with that one scene with the girl (Winter I think). They were trying to check off some buzzword list. I heard Vassar, "how am I going to get an abortion if I get pregnant", self harm and trigger warning in one scene. I'm not sure I can make it through the whole episode without my eyes rolling out of my head.

WE GET IT already. I'm not even scared of this episode, just bored.

I keep starting seasons of AHS and giving up partway through. Watched all of Murder House and most of Asylum (got to be a bit much for me with the medical experimentation and the skin lamp guy). Started Coven and got bored a few episodes in. Tried watching Freakshow by myself because Hubby doesn't do clowns and only got halfway before I gave up because I could only watch it during the day. Hubby watched Hotel without me. Trudged through a chunk of Roanoke and let hubby finish that himself. I think I have enough sense this time to not bother.

Is Roanoke streaming anywhere? I haven't seen it. I feel like they normally release to Netflix in October. Sweet. Yeah, I remember Hotel coming to Netflix. So hopefully that one will too.

The second episode was better. Even if I end up losing interest I'm going to stick it out because I need to know why they're being targeted.
One of my theories- Ivy is in the cult and since they (ivy and wife) have a lot of money, she can benefit by making her wife crazier and eventually getting rid of her.
Second- this somehow ties into the Asylum season.

I like it so far.
I actually like every season for different reasons. Loved Roanoke because it reminded me of an actual scary movie. They did good with ambiance and mood.
It does remind me of The Purge in some parts. Actually that movie scares me. Especially Part 2. It's my real nightmare with this politics climate.

My theory - I think Ryan Murphy wants to show us that, under the right stressors, that even the most progressive, forward-thinking person can be overcome with fear and lured into 'cult' ideas/alt-right/conspiracy theories. I think Sarah's character is going to become progressively more obsessed with safety and more and more alienated from society and eventually become completely lured in by Kai. He said it himself - essentially that you can be progressive and think everyone is always perfectly safe, but when "they" come for you/you think you are no longer safe, you start doing whatever it is that makes you feel safe and some of the crazier alt-right/conspiracy/alex jones theories start making "sense".
Evidence - Her comments about the gun and accusing her therapist of only being against it because of the simple fact that he is a liberal and all liberals are just reactively against it. Her rants about the gassing this past episode are VERY Alex Jones. The way she turned on the crowd, first insisting she was 'just like them' and then calling them assholes and freaking out because they wouldn't leave her alone.
