tallb Vacations hardly ever seem to be relaxing. And there's so much to do once you get home. Glad you had a good time though. Hope your mom is doing well.

Last post I swear. We got invited to a friend's today for a BBQ and I will be drinking. The couple the usually goes to the lake with us and the awkward couple will both be there. Funny thing was after the wife apologized for never meeting C, she said we would get together soon. But I never heard from her. So today will be the first time they meet C and I bet they will just treat this as mission accomplished and not bother to try to get together again.
Also the GF of the guy who's house we're going to has been a drunk fool every time I've seen her. Today will be interesting.
I swear MOST of my friends are normal lol.

I had a dream last night that I was lost in downtown Milwaukee and tjanca22 was trying to come save me. The baby woke me up before she could find me, so dream me is probably still wandering around lost in Milwaukee. Real life me is sitting inside watching TV while MH pulls weeds outside. Then later this afternoon we're walking over to the fair where I will stuff my face with all the food. LOL! Not only would I have come and saved you, I would have showed you the best places to drink. Dream us would still be partying! Real life us would have gotten a few drinks then passed the f out by 10pm!

So we are on a nursing strike. I think. He nursed at 9am today. And I had to pump around 3 because he wouldn't nurse all day. He drank that from a bottle. He'll nurse fine before bed and MOTN. It's during that day it's a different story. This has been going on since Tuesday. He can't be weaning, right?!

She's doing relatively well? She is home and getting around to therapy using the bus and seems happy She still has field vision loss and tingling on her left side, and her speech is different. She seems to have trouble with decision making and it swings between feeling normal and strikingly different. For example, at Target she'd just wait for me and kind of follow me around, but then she's the one that found the cute baby clothes we ended up buying. I know progress slows after 6 months, but I'm hoping her vision and speech continue to improve. Thanks for asking. I bet working day in and out with TBI is emotionally draining, granted also rewarding if they are making progress.

Like, what do you even do? Sorry lady 😕

This is an anecdote and not the same but my FIL had glioblastoma and multiple major brain surgeries to remove it all. While the first 6 months-year had the most rapid improvement it took until about year five for his true new normal to settle in. The brain is amazing in it's ability to heal and relearn. I think (and I bet you'd agree) that therapists like hangry are superheroes. Be gentle with yourself. We don't talk about it much but my H would benefit from some sort of therapy in dealing with his feelings and emotions on all that has changed with his dad. It's his dad, yet it's not. You seem like you're doing amazing but it's ok if sometimes you need to fall apart.

He dropped the daytime feeds because he was so busy and had other baby stuff to do. Then slowly the bottle replaced the morning, before bed and night feeds were the last. He weaned somewhere between 10-11 months.

sophiegrace gosh that sounds like a lot to handle and quite a recovery. I am sure it is hard on your h, it's like the former person you know is gone and you have to learn to accept the new version, albeit grateful that they are still here. It is a different kind of mourning. I'm finding with each new season it's hard to adjust to things being different because I still remember clearly what it was like before. 5 years seems like a long time, but I know it isn't in the grand scheme of things. I hope your fil is doing well.

If I ever have anything uplifting to say I can almost completely guarantee it's because of all the support and love I get from everyone here. Thank you both. That just completely made my week. ❤️❤️

M now has this one smile that is so big that it looks like she might actually implode with joy.
I hope every single one of you are getting that same smile or soon will be from your babes because, goodness, there isn't anything better.

I hope your fil is doing well. Yes. You said all and more than what I wanted to say but I was getting wordy and I know that I stop making sense after awhile. Five years is a long time, but it might also be enough to give you and her a bit of hope when you think there may not be anymore improvement. I don't know if that's a typical timeframe or if that happened to be where my FIL maxed out, but that all happened before I was around and I promise the new normal is still wonderful and sweet. While painful, I'm sure, he's still here to squeeze his grand babies and make so many more memories. For how hard it is for my H and his dad (etc., etc.) he'll always just be poppop to M and her cousin. And he'll always be enough. Right now that's more than enough for us to be thankful for.
