Oh good, is this where we go to complain about babies who can't be put down? We went to a brewery/farm today but M was a little fusspot so I spent most of the time feeding and trying to keep her happy lol. It was still nice to take a long ride, at least I don't have to hold her nonstop then 😂

Every time he was taking a break, I'd hand the baby to him and try to do some work! Lol I definitely try to do a hand off often, since I literally hold him all. Day. Long.

king26, one of the LCs I saw recommended a supplement called More Milk Plus by motherlove (I got it at Target but they have it in Amazon too and probably other places). It made a huge difference for me in increasing my supply. Like I doubled the amount I was pumping in 2 days. Might be worth a try. I wonder what is in it and whether I can get something like that here!!!

cali are you still being monitored for (subclinical) hyperthyroidism ? If so you may wang to double check using the more milk plus with your endocrinologist as well since fenugreek can possibly influence T3 (as per mothersmilk own leaflet). Wasnt sure whether you 'd seen that? Also holy only 45bucks excl shipping for 120 capsules which last for a month? Babies are expensive haha

Congrats pepperpottsj sorry the induction sucked and you pushed for3 hours but glad baby girl is here! J finally crashed at 830 after barely sleeping all day and just got up so I got a much needed solid 3 hours of sleep. DH and I were laughing that he now dictated our bedtime whether it's 8pm or midnight.

muscari, good to know about the T3. I'm not too worried since the only reason they were concerned about my thyroid was because it impacted my fertility and pregnancy, neither of which are an issue at the moment, but I'll still have my tsh checked when I go to my ob just to see.

Just had to supplement with formula (just an oz but still, on top of an oz of pumped milk) for the first time since Wednesday. I always said and believed it when I said it that I d be fine if it was necessary but now I have to admit I am feeling pretty crappy. 😢
I work so hard to get my supply up to par and to keep her happy and fed.. trying different things. And everytime I think there is actual progress and we are doing better.. I realize we still are at like 75% max. I am honestly starting to wonder whether it will ever be 100%.
I know the most important thing is that D is happy and well and growing - and she is (she hasnt been weighted in since day 10 but she's grown out of some outfits already so seema to be growing fine- next weight in won't be till 4 weeks when we see the pedi) and her daiper output is good - but it is just so frustrating and puzzles me. I just don't know what else to try or do apart from a nurse&pump regiment I know will drive us all crazy.

How long do your babies sleep during the day? I cant get J to sleep longer then an hour at a time during the day.
Also where do your babies sleep during the day? Same place as at night? Do you put them down asleep or drowsy? Do you "boob" them to sleep?
What do your babies sleep in clothing wise at night? Weve been doing diaper and a long sleeved shirt with a swaddle blanket but his hands are always cold

Weve been doing diaper and a long sleeved shirt with a swaddle blanket but his hands are always cold A only sleeps and an hour, hour and a half max, but it's probably about 3 times a day. And will do little 15-30 min naps throughout the day as well. Sometimes he'll fall asleep nursing and he'll sleep the longest while laying on me. I've had him sleep in the RnP, on me, on the boppy pillow, anywhere I can really. I put A in a long sleeve onesie and a halo sleep sack. Once I get him down, I throw a beanie on his head. He sleeps in his RnP at night for now.

Weve been doing diaper and a long sleeved shirt with a swaddle blanket but his hands are always cold DD apparently loves to sleep. She probably sleeps about 20 hours a day, no joke. I actually googled the other day to make sure that was normal (it is). During the day her stretches are usually 1.5-3 hours. During the day she'll sleep on me or in the RnP. She sleeps in the RnP at night. Most of the time I put her down asleep but there's been a few times I've put her down drowsy and after fussing a bit she'll fall asleep (mostly though she fusses forever and I end up picking her back up). At night we put her in a onesie (sometimes short sleeved, sometimes long sleeved) and a fleece swaddle. We keep our room around 70 degrees so it seems sufficient - she's not cold when we unswaddle her for diaper changes.

She sleeps about 16-18 hours I'd say, usually in 1.5 to 3 hour stretches. She really only wakes up to eat and for a few hours from like 3am to 6 am and again between like 8am and 11am which seem to be her witching hours. She usually does fall asleep nursing, which is part of the reason nursing takes so damn long, lots of little naps taken during one session. During the day she sleeps either in the bassinet from the pack n play or on her boppy lounger. At night she sleeps in a rnp. She sleeps in a long sleeve onesie and heavy swaddle sleep sack or in pajamas with a lighter swaddle sleep sack. Do you swaddle his hands in? M's hands get cold a lot too, but if we swaddle them in against her they stay warm.

At what age do you guys think it's ok to let baby go 5-6hr between feedings?
Last night N BF at 11p, then took an extra 40cc by bottle around 12, then slept til after 5am! I woke up at 5 like what!!! And he was moving around but not fully awake but I picked him up and nursed anyway because I was horrified it had been so long... he's 3 weeks old today. Is that too long between feeds? Or okay?

addymac we were told that at night a longer stretch was okay. Ideally not longer then 4h but we have accidentally let D. sleep a little over 5h in a row as well and by the time I changed her and had her in the boob another 30min had gone by orso.. she was fine and wasnt bothered or felt off the rest of the day at all or anything. It did freak me out a little (it happened when she was like 10-12 days?) so now tend to set my alarm at 4h after her last feeding just in case. Most of the time she will wake up before, but sometimes I have to wake her (usually she has taken an extra bottle BM before falling asleep then, like N did last night). I do notice that she drinks very lazily if I have to wake her up and won't nurse as long as she usually does, guess she doesn't like being waken up not even for food heh?

king26 D. takes after her daddy and loves to sleep heh. Though it can be hard at times to get her to settle down and fall asleep. She either sleeps on top of me or daddy or in her livingroom bassinet (I sleep in the livingroom still as well, got a bed set up still from when I broke my ankle). I have definitely "boobed" her to sleep, she often dozes off at the end of a nursing session and I just can't make myself to risk waking her up by putting her in her bassinet sometimes heh. Lately she often lets go of the boob and makes herself comfortable before dozing off and I often just let her as it is easier to put her in bed a little later then have her fuss when we put her down when she is still too awake. During the day she will sleep anywhere between 30mins and 3h (I will wake her at the 3h mark to nurse if she sleeps on). Usually it isnt until later in the afternoon that she sleeps longer tho - but conveniently she has let me cook dinner most days. ☺ At night she usually fusses for a good couple of hours but once she does settle and falls asleep she will sleep between 2-5h (again I will wake her up at, usually around the 4h mark to nurse). She usually sleeps in a onesie and a footed sleeper under a light blanket. Sometimes we add another light blanket as she tended to feel a little cold. She pretty much always wakes up with cold hands too- she will hold them both up next to her head while sleeping, tis her favorite position lol. She hates being swaddled though (and we have been told tis preferable not to swaddle when you BF cause it limits their ability to give hunger cues?) so that isnt an option to keep her hands warm.. For a while we would put on small cotton "anti scratch your face" mittens but she hates those too so cold hands it is? Guess she takes after her mama when it comes to this.. i always have cold hands and feet too (except when I was pregnant!).

addymac generally you're ok to let them go that long once they've regained birthweight...that being said our pedi gave us the ok to let DD go 4-5 hours at 3 days old. Her first stretch of sleep at night is usually 5ish hours, but other than that she doesn't normally go more than 3.5 hours without wanting to eat anyway.

cali, I swaddle in 1 arm because if I do both he just cries and cries. He likes both out but sleeps better if one is swaddled in. I'm jealous of those of you who have to wake up your baby! We might get one good 3 hour stretch at night but then its 30 min-1 hour intervals after that. J would happily sleep on me during the day but how do you get stuff done then?? I put him in his bassinet but he doesn't sleep too long. I feel like Im either feeding him or he;s sleeping. I think we might try a walk today just to get out. I did go grocery shopping by myself yesterday and that felt good.

I have a sleeper too for most of the day. Same as jexxa I was worried it was too much but I do tend to wake her before 3 hrs during the day. She is starting to be up more during the day but is usually a fusspot. She sleeps in R n P during the day and was using the cosleeper at night but since she has been stuffy from a cold she has been sleeping better in the R n P. I'm worried about her getting used to that and then it being much harder to transition to the crib down the road. muscari, I have never heard that about BF and swaddling Also do you all have grunters/snorters? My first was hysterical too with the sound effects and M is the same way. She sounds like a horse sometimes 😂 I have her sleeping in a short sleeve onesie and footed cotton pjs and swaddled with arms out so cold hands here as well. She hates them in. addymac, no need to wake them at this point unless there is weight concerns. M slept 8-1 last night but I woke her because my boobs were ready to explode and I loathe pumping lol.
