Since the two are so close together I thought we could share with the class the ideas we have and known favorites

I should just wrap shiny wrapping paper for M. Pretty sure that would make me the best Mom ever in her eyes.

Ok. So.
M isn't getting anything per say for her birthday, but I want to pack a bunch of new toys for the plane and airport. I've kind of just started collecting things little by little since November and December are always such expensive months. We're also taking a long weekend in two weeks so I'll also be handing a toy or two for the road trip and hotel stay since the car seat is the devil.
So far I have: NOD chair Baby doll Hape little drummer set Melissa and Doug percussion set Rain stick 7" ball A bunch of books Melissa and Doug wooden shape puzzles B. Toys FunKeys Melissa and Doug caterpillar tunnel Skip hop hedgehog accordion Stacking blocks Pounding bench Vtech baby phone

I think that's enough. More than enough, even spread out over the three different 'events', but since she's turning one I also don't mind getting her more for the different occasions just because it works out time wise. If that makes sense?

I'm having SOOOOOO much trouble with this as H basically has everything he needs already leftover from C. So far I have stacking cups and a new book to add to our collection of 5million.

Thank you sophiegrace you gave me some great ideas ! Luckily my sister has been giving us a ton of hand me down toys. I haven't given them all at once but break one or two out when they're particularly challenging for me, maybe they have too many toys out at once bc I feel like they get so easily bored with toys. As far as other things, I want to get the pop up tunnel someone was suggesting. Aside from books and puzzles and things that play music, I am at a total loss of what's appropriate or what they'll like. Edit tag

Is a pop up tunnel useless for a kid that doesn't crawl? I have no idea if he'll start crawling eventually or just stick with "walking".

I was just thinking this, too. I was trying to remember what we got DS1 for his 1st birthday and Christmas, but then I realized that we still have all of that stuff. My ILs got DS1 this Mickey Mouse ride on fire truck for his first Christmas when he was about 9 months old. It's been hanging out in the backyard since last summer, so it's all weathered and the sounds don't work anymore, so we'll probably get a new one. I'll probably get some new stacking rings and those types of smaller toys since we've lost most of the pieces from the ones DS1 had. That's all I've got though.

I was going to save a water table for easter bc it's going to be too cold here to use it for how many months outside, but maybe that's dumb. An indoor slide is a great idea aggiebug! Today's rainy day is making it very obvious to me that I need more indoor activity ideas for the winter.

I feel like once he gets the hang of walking and gets to know how his body works he'll definitely start crawling. Think about all those tunnels and stuff at the play places at McDonald's. Kids eat that stuff up for years.

M gets a crap load of stuff from my MIL for her birthday & Christmas. I let her open the gifts and then I hide some to bring out throughout the year.
A month ago I took out a princess coloring activity set. I still have some things stashed away.

I bought this for H. He'll also get some sort of chair. Maybe an anywhere chair, maybe a rocking chair. Probably a bubble lawn mower.

Dds birthday is January so I hear you I knew we wouldn't do big gifts at Easter so that was out. When she got it we put it on the kitchen floor and brought in snow for her to play with. She had a blast. Also, especially at this age, they are so overwhelmed with stuff that its nice having things to spread out over time.

Ok, here are some ideas for FTMs of things B got around 1 year old and loved:
Anywhere Chair (get the regular, not "my first" size) Ride-on toy Wagon Indoor slide/climbing toy Pop-up tunnel Cozy Coupe Lawn mower Tent (I think technically he was 2 when he got this but C loves it now)

For C this year, my ILs are planning to get her an Anywhere Chair (they got B his, also).
We have a lot of 'big stuff' (wagon, etc) that can be passed down.
Other ideas:
Baby doll, maybe with a basic stroller to push Big/chunky tea set Ride-on car (B's is beaten to hell andplusalso he might revolt if we encouraged C to use his) Puzzles that aren't transportation themed Table-and-chair set (my parents are thinking about this as a joint gift for both kids) Pull toy (tbd)
