This is the Waiting to do Something thread posted once a week (usually on Mondays - sometimes not) for those of us that experience long, extended cycles. Whether it's medicated cycles, long (45ish + days) cycles, postpartum/breastfeeding, TTA, on the bench, or something else, this is the place we gather throughout the week to discuss and vent about our slightly unique situation.

Numbers: CD17 of my very first PP cycle
Circumstances: 9 months PP; charting to avoid until TTC#3 in May/June of next year
Rants: FF is being kind of judgy about my chart this cycle. It's hard to temp at the exact same time every day when my kids still wake at unpredictable times. Even with that, I've managed to get it within the same hour and a half window every day. So maybe lay off me with all the open circles lol
Raves: It's my birthday on Thursday and MH just told me he made reservations for us to go out to a new sushi restaurant on Saturday night!!
No Flame No Shame Questions: none ATM
QOTW: What is your favorite guilty pleasure? Wine. Wine and TV. At this moment I can't think of anything I'd rather be doing than sitting on my couch drinking wine and watching some Law & Order.

Numbers: n/a
Circumstances: 11.5 months postpartum - still breastfeeding and awaiting my first PP period. Planning to start TFAS in March once DS is 18 months.
Rants: I am so beyond exhausted today. I imagine it's stress related, but I feel like I haven't slept in days. Hopefully I can get to bed early tonight.
Raves: It's amazing watching DS grow each day. All of a sudden he's making big changes from being a baby to being a little person. And I bought a new car! Picking up my new Highlander later this week.
No Flame No Shame Questions: Nothing right now
QOTW: What is your favorite guilty pleasure? Sitting on the couch all day long relaxing. Doesn't happen much anymore!

dashook - I'm not positive, but I believe FF only gives you about a half hour window before it starts assigning open circles to temps. I think FF basically figures out your average temp time and anything outside that average window gets an open circle. I also find it annoying, but I'm not sure there's much you can do about it.

I hope it's okay if I post in here. I should've just posted here before posting in WTO
Numbers: *TW*
Tomorrow is 4 weeks after my miscarriage.
Circumstances: Waiting for my first AF after my loss. I read you need to go 20 consecutive days with no bleeding before you can consider bleeding to be AF. I went 16 days and then started spotting again. 😤
Rants: See above. I just want to get my first AF and be able to start ttc again.
Raves:
No Flame No Shame Questions: I probably should have asked this before I did it, but I've had sex already. Is that a big no no?
QOTW: What is your favorite guilty pleasure? I can't think of anything. Maybe that I watch cartoons on adult swim every night?

Big hugs notmoose. Where did you read the 20 days thing? With my loss I bled for a week, spotted for another week, then got my period 2 weeks later. So there were only 15-ish days between the end of my spotting and my next period and my OB considered that my first post-loss period. Any chance the spotting is your period? For your question, as long as you are physically and mentally ready for sex, it's ok to do so. I imagine there could be certain situations where holding off could be good, but I know we had sex a few times between my loss and first period and it was fine. It's generally recommended to wait a cycle before trying again, but as far as I knew that meant specifically trying to get pregnant, not all sex. I say if you're up for it, go for it. Some days I couldn't imagine the thought of having sex and others the closeness with MH was exactly what I needed.

Happy early birthday dashook! I'm jealous of your sushi. Enjoy! What kind of wine do you like? Nymeria I hope you get a good night's sleep tonight! Congrats on your Highlander! What color is it? notmoose Welcome to WTDS. I'm here for the same reason. Big giant hugs! H and I had sex as soon as I stopped bleeding after my MC. Not sure if that was wrong, but oh well. I agree with Nymeria. I needed that closeness with my H. Hi guys! Sorry I fell off the face of the earth. I moved, had no internet, and was running very low on data. We are supposed to get internet tomorrow! **TW Loss** Numbers: It's been almost 6 weeks since my Methotrexate injection that started my loss. I have about 4.5 more weeks of BCP, and then I will start my next treatment cycle. Circumstances: See above Rants: Still on the bench Raves: Benched time is passing pretty quickly. My last pack of BCP will end 2 weeks before my 3 month bench time is up, but my RE said we can go ahead and start the next treatment cycle! NFNSQ: Nothing I can think of QOTW: Alcohol, TV, and homemade macaroni and cheese

notmoose I'm so sorry for your loss. Nymeria had some good insight. Personally, unless my doctor had specifically advised against it, I wouldn't be concerned about having sex if that's what I was feeling up for. orangehibiscus, I'm sorry for your loss as well. Really glad the bench time seems to be passing quickly though! Re: wine, it would be hard for me to say no to pretty much anything lol. But my typical go-tos are New Zealand sauvignon blancs, Argentinian malbecs, or riojas. There are a few chardonnays and cabs that I particularly enjoy but they're all pretty expensive. I think too many days of 3 buck Chuck in a previous life ruined anything cheaper for me 😆

Nymeria I've seen it on a few articles about miscarriage. I need to find a new doctor because mine was not good during my loss, so I don't have anything but the internet for my questions. I bled for 6 days, spotted for 3, nothing for 16, and now spotting again. It's not getting heavier, so I'm assuming it is not my period. Thanks for answering my questions!

notmoose - I'm sorry to hear your dr did not handle your loss well. I think it's so important for a dr to be able to handle the good and the bad from both a medical and overall patient wellness standpoint. Post-loss cycles can be wonky, but I agree it doesn't really sound like your period based on what you said. Sorry if you previously mentioned this already, but have you had/are you going to have an u/s to make sure the loss was complete?

I'm most frustrated that it took 2 days and several phone calls for me to get confirmation that I miscarried. And then when I went in 5 days after my loss he told me I was depressed and needed to go on meds. I mean, duh I'm really upset right now? I actually had an ultrasound the day after I miscarried. It was scheduled when I started bleeding and by the time I got the u/s there was nothing in my uterus. I also had quantitative (or is it qualitative?) Hcg done the Saturday and Monday after my loss, and my numbers dropped quickly.

I love love white vehicles Nymeria! They're my favorite. Thanks! I'm sorry you had a bad experience with your doc notmoose. If the result was a number, then you had quantitative levels drawn. Did they track your betas to negative (typically less than 5)?

To jump right to depression and meds feels so inappropriate to me. Hope you find a much better one. Since the u/s was clear and your numbers dropped quickly, it seems like the spotting was probably just plain old annoying spotting. Sorry you're stuck in limbo waiting for your period. Hope you don't have to wait too much longer.

Yeah, I already had my reservations about him but it was just small things like asking me condescendingly if I was trying to get pregnant after saying i wasnt on birth control/was having unprotected sex. When i had told him we'd been trying for months just a couple weeks earlier. I don't want to go back there but haven't looked for another doctor. I am thinking about going back to the doctor I saw in the past but it's an hour drive.

I just thought of this after posting... could the spotting be because the hcg is finally out of my body. It took 4 weeks to get a negative HPT and the spotting started a few days before I got the negative yesterday.

Funny you wrote this while I was typing my last response since it's basically a personal anecdote for this exact question. My period came 2 days after I finally got a HPT.

I live in a small town, so there are 2 doctors here that see pregnant patients. One my doctor and the other isn't accepting new patients. The next town over has a THREE month wait time right now. That leaves me with the hour drive if I want to be seen relatively soon. I ended up making an appt just a minute ago with my old Dr (an hour away) to get my thyroid checked. If I become pregnant again I will look for closer options, but I figured it was worth it to travel for now.

Glad you finally got a negative HPT notmoose. My betas were fracked to negative, so I wasn't taking HPTs. I had Methotrexate, but I started bleeding the day after I got the injection. Sorry I'm not much help to you there! I'm glad you got an appt with your old doc. I would probably go ahead and get on the list with one of the new docs in the nearby town since their waiting time is kind of long. I hope your period starts soon!

Numbers: um I'm just gonna put that I have 6 months left until I go back to the doctor.
Circumstances: PID related fertility issues, liver disease, swollen spleen.
Rants: I can not seem to get a handle on my diet. I feel like yelling.
Raves: I'm doing wonderfully at getting to the gym and staying active.
No Flame No Shame Questions : should I keep charting? I stopped temping when we were benched but would it be good just to keep up with it?
QOTW: What is your favorite guilty pleasure? Popcorn and tea while watching Drop Dead Diva (or whatever show is my current binge) after H goes to bed. It's not scandalous or anything but it's what I like.

Sorry you're having troubles with your diet Radley. What are you trying to stick to? Yay for doing good about staying active! I stopped temping a few days after my positive HPT. I haven't started back. I'm on BCP though. If you're not and TTA, then I would still temp.

Radley - Sorry for the diet troubles. Hope you can find something that works for you. I would keep temping if I were in your shoes, but I like to have all the data. It would also give FF some good cycle history for when you do get back to TTC. No reason you HAVE to keep up with it if you'd rather not bother, but I would chose to.

orangehibiscus it's supposed to be a low carb, sugar free diet. It's hard for me since I stress eat carbs. I started back on the BCP but I had to go back off of it because it lowered my testosterone so much that I was basically a zombie. I already struggle with fatigue from my other health issues. So we went back to condoms until I can find a pill that doesn't exhaust me. Nymeria that's a good point. I just hate waking up early to temp every morning. I really should start again though.
