It kind of freaks me out because the end of the month means my baby is another month older. He turns 10 months old on Thursday! This summer FLEW by. But I do love the fall. We drove by an apple orchard that was already open and selling donuts! H wouldn't stop to buy some though because we had leftover cupcakes from the party and ice cream at home.

Both. Happy that it's about to be a lot less sticky in my house (hot/humid). Happy that shorts season is ending so I don't have to worry about shaving my legs all the time lol. Sad because although I like Fall weather, it is a super short season for us and I know we will be getting snow in the not-so-distant future. Sad because it means my Maternity Leave is almost over.

Happy. The last round of 100+ temps with a million percent humidity really knocked the fun out of summer for me. I always hate Jan-April, but September through December is so much fun between the fall activities and holidays.

Mostly happy. I love fall and the cooler weather and pumpkin everything and football, but while I'm always ready for fall I'm also always sad to lose our long summer days.

I absolutely love Fall weather. So I'm looking forward to that. And we have a few more fun things planned in the next few months. But, I will be going back to work soon and that makes me sad. I also don't feel like E is in a good place between her eating and sleeping and intolerances so I'm not ready to send her to daycare. Not much I can do though. Just will have to enjoy these last 6 weeks with her! +1 to thinking about you this morning tgrimes. And I hope it stayed reletively mild for you classymrsa.

The rain seems to finally be moving away from us today. Still raining right now, but it's supposed to stop later today. No other damage that I saw. My crepe myrtle is leaning oddly, but still in the ground so that's good. Pretty much just wet here now.
I'm super excited for summer to end. I hate the heat. I only put up with it because snow and ice is worse imo. I'm not generally a fan of September. But it's how we get to October which is really when we start to cool off some and it's the start of birthday season here (my uncle, my mom, my dad, Lillian, me, and my grandma all have birthdays in October and then of course Lilah is early November).

classymrsa DH, SIL, MIL, and FIL all have their birthdays the same weekend in October (well I know it's technically not always a weeked, but its 2 consequetive days so has been deemed "birthday weekend"). I always said I was not going to have an October baby for this reason, then H decided to come early!!!

Morning ladies. Checking in from the bathroom stall where I am pumping before going into a full day of depositions. Working mom lyfe is super glamorous. I'm looking forward to fall. It's gorgeous here and I love football season. But this was a particularly great summer so I'm a bit sad to see it go. My birthday is Thursday and it's always felt like that day marks the end of summer. tgrimes thinking of you.

I stayed up way too late last night to watch GoT. I love that show but I'm glad it's over for a while so I can go to bed at a normal time on Sunday nights again. We have DS2's 9 month appointment today. Thankfully MH was able to get off work early so he can hang out with DS1 while I go to the appointment. Trying to take both of them by myself is disastrous. Thinking of you tgrimes!!

Last night they were doing helicopter rescues two streets behind ours. MH said he saw at least 3 in our neighborhood most of the night.
This morning the water has receded off our street. He is going to see what his boundaries are and if he can make it to my in laws' house.
The next couple of days they expect another 2 feet of rain so I don't want them staying at our house. I heard they're going to do some dam releases, which will flood neighborhoods. I just need to find out which areas.
Thanks for all of the prayers/good thoughts ladies.

I love summer but don't feel like I got to take advantage this year being a new mom and not leaving the house all that much, we did our morning family walks (and sometimes an afternoon one). Plus with their sleep problems it meant I usually go to bed like 6:30p or so because that's when they do and it's the most likely 3-4 hours of sleep I'll get. So the extended daylight was actually pointless this year, except to make me feel bad that I was going to bed while t was still light out lol.
Bring on Fall! I love the cooler weather, football season, comfort foods, not having to wear shorts, and the holidays! All of our bdays are in November too (Nov 4 MH, Nov 5 the babies, and Nov 24 for me) , so it'll be fun to celebrate birthdays this year!

I was just reading an article about them releasing the Addicks and Barker reservoirs (is this what you're talking about?). It said that the most direct route for the released water is Buffalo Bayou. Not sure if that's helpful at all. I think I read it on NPR. I'm glad your family is safe and that the water is receding. I hope they're able to make it to your ILs.

Thanks for the update tgrimes, I hope your family stays safe and prayers that the rain on the way doesn't make things worse on your H and the kids. I'm torn on if I want summer to be over. We didn't have much going on this weekend and it seems like a got a good reminder of what being cooped up in the house feels like. I love fall, all the holidays, all the pumpkin stuff, football and the comfort food, but I hate how early it gets dark. I wake up in the dark, don't see daylight at work and go home in the dark.

Hi ladies.
Exciting day over here in the waitwhat household. We woke up at 7, ate breakfast, and went to Home Depot. We picked up a storm door, some curtains for our slider, and we are going to order some backsplash for the kitchen finally.
I just fed J some lunch and now putting him down for a nap. B is next. Not sure what thr afternoon has in store. We are grilling steaks tonight!

Not sure of a specific one. We have a white kitchen with a busy countertop so I am leaning towards a gray subway tile.

I wish I were helicopter rich right now, I'd pick you up from CA and then swing by and get your family and drop you all off somewhere dry. Preferably a wine vineyard.

Ohhh what kind of backsplash waitwhat ?? Not sure of a specific one. We have a white kitchen with a busy countertop so I am leaning towards a gray subway tile. I LOVE arabesque tile, but I'm not sure if it would look good with busy countertops, even in a solid color. Subway tile always looks good though.

tgrimes, I'm going to keep you and your family in my thoughts! kleigh, I felt like such a downer... everyone would sleep in and when they were ready for the beach, L was going down for a nap. They stayed up late (2am-5am) to played spades or hanging in the hot tub and I was in bed by 9pm with baby. I'm ready for fall! Only 1 more vacation to go! The kids are gone, I think L misses them. I will say with September looming, I feel rushed to plan a birthday party. Lol Baby shower review: I thought it was a cluster but everyone else thought it was wonderful! I really do feel like a snob. It seemed nobody bought off the registry, they shopped off it but didn't actually buy so she got credit. Outer banks was better than I thought. BIL wasn't as annoying as normal (he likes to get a rise out of people on purpose) so that was a plus. My sister and bil were drinking all day and that worried me. Didn't leave L alone with them if I knew they were drinking. I'm exhausted and only have 6 days before we leave again but DH will be there. I hope that helps. It looks like farther back teeth were coming in, thank you again for the advice/support!

Sounds like they are trying to clear out the at risk areas before they open the damn.

I don't even mind winter through about Valentine's Day--then I want to wake up on the 15th to instant spring.
