tgrimes does your H has a baby carrier lying around? Strapping one kid down might make it easier to manoeuvre. ETA even if they usually don't like it anymore, or they're to big. I put ds in one the other week, still worked.

I feel like MH is being too nonchalant about this whole thing. I realize I might be over reacting, but the reality that our house could flood is definitely possible. I told him to blow up the air mattress just in case he needs to put the kids on it and get out of the house. Hopefully we are overreacting, but super scary. Get out life jackets too. Hugs.

I told him to blow up the air mattress just in case he needs to put the kids on it and get out of the house. I understand completely! MH would be the same way. And I don't think you are overreacting. It is best to plan for all the what if's. I seriously have been so upset today thinking of the devastation in the area, and thinking of you and how you must be feeling to be away from them during this. I think the air mattress idea is a great one, and do your kids have life jackets in the house somewhere? I would be keeping those handy just in case. There is so much more rain expected, and I have seen what can happen and how fast it can happen with flooding. It is best to be prepared for anything!

He needs to get his shit together and have a plan, preparations are easier DURING THE DAY. What if something happens MOTN and he is searching around in the dark. Omg, no. I wish I was helicopter rich, I'd rescue them and all your neighbours.

Just ducking in to check on the Texans. I'm so sorry, tgrimes. I don't think you're overreacting. I think the air mattress idea is excellent.

Holy shit tgrimes! Your H needs to get a plan in place ASAP. Are your in-laws close enough to come over and help in case of emergency? He really should find an extra set of hands. I'm so sorry.

tgrimes, I don't think you're overreacting at all. I hope we're wrong, but it all looks so scary. How often is he checking in with you? I'd be blowing up his phone.

I'd rather have to put them away later than need them in the motn like vino said and can't find them.

I told him this morning where the ergo is located but m's puddle jumper is at my in laws' house. MH can't get off our street so no one can get to him unless they have a canoe or kayak.
I have some friends that were trying to rescue their parents. They can't get close enough to get their kayak over to them.

Work is sooooo slow today. I have about an hour left and just want to go home. I really need to plan things for my Sunday shift. It makes it go by so much quicker.

Oh and because it was so busy this week. Coworker S told boss B that she won't be able to work any weekends for the rest of the year. I would really like to see the doctors note for that. I made it clear that in November and December I would not be working weekends due to family obligations. I just feel like S doesn't consider anyone else on the team and makes the rest of us deal with it.

Other than our grocery trip this morning we've been holed up at home. Apparently the thing to buy during a storm is frozen pizza. The entire case was completely empty. Pizzas and tator tots, all gone.
As of right now dc is opening 2.5 hrs late tomorrow. That might change to be closed completely, depending on how much rain we get overnight. It hasn't stopped all day.
Cadence keeps singing rain rain go away and asking if we can go to the park.

tgrimes I was just going to ask how mark is doing. I'm sorry you can't be there to help with things. Do you have pool noodles he make impomptu life jackets/floats with? A clothes basket is a good container for anything he may need to keep with him like bottles or formula or pouches.

Everything we could have possibly used is at his parents house because they drove home from Florida with all of the stuff we couldn't take on the plane.

Don't worry tgrimes he likely has it all handled and knows you don't need to be worrying about it right now. Your kids are in very capable hands.

I was just putting the sheets on the bed and thought that the water proof matress cover might be useful for cover sitting in the roof or for some other use. How is your dad today?

Giving him the benefit of the doubt. Maybe he's a man of action in an emergency. Plus, football hasn't started yet, so he won't be distracted.

They helped him shower and he does great in PT. He still gets disoriented though. They took the catheter out at noon so he should be able to move around without getting tangled up. Hopefully his bladder remembers how it's supposed to work.

Checking in before the weekend is officially over. We took the boys to see some animals at a local farm, then went for lunch. My parents drove down and joined us and it was actually really nice. But Colin didn't nap and was a terror tonight. I don't even know if it was related since he was a wreck all week.
Daycare is closed tomorrow for the big fall room switch on Tuesday, so we're taking the boys to Stepping Stones. We were supposed to visit DH's cousin - she just brought her youngest home from the NICU after a couple weeks. But he kept putting it off until about half hour ago, so I doubt she'll want a last minute houseful.

X had a massive vomit incident and then fell asleep in the bath. Both kids were in bed by 6:45 (normal bedtime is 7:30). I'm dreading what I'm sure will be an early wake up call, if X doesn't throw up again sometime in the MOTN.
