My cousin lives in San Antonio where 9,000 ppl lost power including her because of Harvey. She has complain SEVEN TIMES on fb today. SEVEN! You know some people lost homes or have severe damage. But let's complain about how you might have to throw food away. Honestly I'm pretty relieved we still have power and I can see posting once but yeah that is excessive.

My baby is learning to swim. I'm kind of shocked. We've gone to the pool a fair bit this summer and Abigail has been pretty comfortable jumping in and going under. Over the past 2 months she's been watching her big brother and sister learn to swim. We finally got water wings for her and now that she can float, she started floating on her tummy while putting her face in the water and kicking her feet. It's so cool! She can stay under for a pretty long time too. I'm amazed and she is thrilled with herself! I know it's possible for babies to learn to swim, but I didn't think she would figure this out on her own so early.
The one downside to all this is that she swallowed a good bit of pool water tonight. That combined with eating a bunch of pizza at dinner that she didn't chew well didn't end well. I took her out of the pool because she was shivering. Just after I wrapped her up in a towel and was holding her close to me to warm her up she puked ALL over me. So gross. Considering that this is the first time in 4.5 years and 3 kids that I've been puked on (not counting spit up), I guess my puke free streak was bound to come to an end at some point. All things considered, the cleanup wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. At least we were outside.

DH's brother is coming through town tomorrow and will be staying with us. He is a clean freak. My house is well lived in by 3 young kids. It is, not that clean. We certainly try to stay on top of the basics but I don't have a cleaning service and a lot of the deep cleaning doesn't get done as frequently as it should. I'm kind of stressed that he'll be judging us. That should motivate me to go clean more tonight but I'm having trouble finding motivation. I think I'm also annoyed because this visit is very last minute and I don't exactly have a ton of extra time.

She's said more than once already that I should keep up with my house being as clean as it's been (with the fleas it's more tidy because it needs to be while we get rid of them) and this is just from her noticing in our FaceTime calls. She is also coming this week (last minute) so I did a little cleaning today.

But it was more like "we lost power because maintenance doesn't trim our trees and it was probably a tree branch" "they told us it would be 4-6 hours! That's unacceptable" "it's been 7 hours and no update! Power still off" if you are curious. It's back now, she made sure to include the timeframe it was off. 🙄. Apparently, for a city that big they should have been more prepared.

I'm trying to catch up. Nothing is wrong. My dad has actually been out of the hospital for an entire week, which is amazing. Life (primarily work) combined with first tri exhaustion has had me down. We went to a wedding tonight. I'm only 9 weeks but none of my cute dresses fit. That sucked. I'm getting way bigger, way faster this time around. easternshoregirl, how many weeks are you now? I fear I've lost track. I'm glad you treated yourself to a nice haircut! aydee, boo to the barf, but I'm glad your baby is swimming!

Greetings from Georgia! *waves wildly* What a day yesterday, whew. We got on the road around 6am and didn't get to our hotel until almost 9pm, Everything went smoothly until we got to the Georgia line, then the girls were over it and we still had like 3 hours to go. I hopped back to the middle row and sat between the car seats and that helped, but the last 30 minutes was pure bedlam. I've never been so happy to be out of a farkin' car but we're having a blast

Happy weekend ladies! DH got the kitchen painted today, which I'm super excited to have done! Got pizza for dinner, which was delicious. I'm in bed now and H is trying to watch the fight, I think. No plans for tomorrow. Any tips on keeping my kid in his bed? We moved him in with DD and he keeps climbing into her bed to snuggle up with her. She is usually ignoring him or already asleep when he does this. While it is adorable, I really want him to stay in his own bed. My oldest two went through a phase of sharing a bed for a few weeks. I just let it happen and it passed. I would love for #3 to snuggle with a brother instead of me! Take pictures for the cuteness. I bet it will resolve itself.

Random question because I need to know if I have an unpopular opinion about this.
For some reason you end up divorced and meet someone new . You start dating. Things are serious enough that your kids (who are 4 and 6) have met the boyfriend and his 14 Yr old son. Things are serious enough that you get pregnant. Is it weird for 14 yr old boy, a 4 and 6 yr old want to build forts and then sleep in them overnight while you and your boyfriend sleep in the master?

Apparently, for a city that big they should have been more prepared. Oh yeah. That is ridiculous. If one looses power during a hurricane I wouldn't expect to get it back until after the storm has passed through. I think my parents had their power out for about 5 days after Katrina and they weren't in the direct path of the storm.

Depending on the relationship between the kids and how long it has been I'm not generally weirded out by this. That was the age range between me and my little sisters (granted not "step") and we would have played like that. So case by case imo.

shellyr, I am 16 weeks (but closer to 17 at this point!). I can't believe how many of us here are KU! I definitely got bigger this time earlier. Luckily my main early awkward phase was when I was off work and now I at least can say my blump is turning into a bump as I go back to work tomorrow. I may stick with loose stuff for a couple of weeks still though.

OMG. Last night E went to sleep at 11 and then he was freakin awake at 5:30 this morning. He was not really ready to wake up, he was crying and not cheerful but DH took him and he never went back down. (Not blaming DH, I'm sure E was something else...) So right now DH is out driving him around b/c E won't get a nap today b/c we have a birthday party that starts at noon!

Oh and I need to go out and run a couple of errands but DH took E in my car, so I am going to take DH's car I guess. I just don't like taking it without letting him know! For the first 8 years that I knew DH, he always had stick but now he has a manual and I still am not accustomed to the idea that I *can* drive his car!
sidenote...I once learned to drive stick shift but it was years and years ago and I decided I just didn't like it and did not want to do it again, ever

Last night, H and I went to the Indians game and my parents kept J. It was so nice except I missed drinking.
The dog puked at 3:30 but then we all went back to sleep and didn't wake up until almost 9 am! It was fantastic. My parents will probably keep J tonight too since my mom usually has him on Monday's too. I've ran 5 miles and now soaking in the tub. H is cutting the grass and then we are going to a greasy breakfast place (it will be lunchtime but I will still be getting greasy breakfast). BEST

Morning! We're being extra lazy today. Just playing with all of the things. B got cookies (and banana) for breakfast. Nothing planned for the day except grocery shopping and a bike ride.

If the 14 year old is an only child he may just be really excited to have siblings. Kids (even at that age) don't necessarily think of "step" sibling as a thing. My oldest sister is technically my half sister, to me she is my sister and I never thought of her any differently, even though she's 12 years older than me and lived with her mom. With my kids we tried to avoid the "step", "half" etc as much as we could. We didn't want any of the kids to feel different, less than or better than the others. It worked for a while, and I think if DS didn't have so many behavioral issues, things would be much different than they are now.

We forgot our suitcase... no clothes, no toiletries... we had 30 minutes to spare between the Wild Animal Park and dinner with H's family, so we hit Old Navy... no maternity clothes and no women's underwear. So I found a shirt that works and I'm wearing a pair of men's briefs, they're actually quite comfy. We were too tired to find a store for toiletries last night, but the hotel had deodorant, toothbrushes and toothpaste, so yay! .

Picture of A in the Asia enclosure yesterday... they are closed off from the other animals, they're pretty violent. This is the #1 of the group... #2 and #3 also came down to say hello, but she made them stay further away from the gate. These Rhinos were pretty cute. That baby is only 3 months old.

My friends here in dallas have been marking themselves "safe" in hurricane on fb. There is no hurricane here. It's rained a few times but that is about it. How is everything where you are amichelle723? Today is a laundry/lazy day here. I'm about to put H down for her nap and make lunch. Other than that, nothing going on around here today. I am happy that it seems the heat may be breaking... our high is 81 today!

had a couple of sips of my coffee this morning, and thought it tasted kinda off (I can never trust my tastebuds lately). Sure enough, the cream had expired 4 days ago. Had a rough time at work last night--I had a migraine which led to me throwing up my entire dinner after I got into my car to drive home. I hope none of my coworkers saw that. I also managed to pee myself during it too. Wonderful. Lazy day today. We might do a little grocery shopping, or we might visit a friend. Or more likely, we will nap and be lazy. The lawnmower broke (the bolt that holds on the blade sheared in half) so I don't need to worry about that today.
