We just put together the cheapo water table for the toddler. HUGE HIT. Bonus, I can sit and do nearly nothing while she dumps water everywhere!

I'm struggling with this. DS is three and he's INSANE. Getting him outside Ida a challenge because: I don't have a car. My town is not walkable. Apartment complex so no yard. Baby will only be 3-6 month over summer, and that's to little for the pool. (Isn't it?) for the pool get this for the baby so you have your hands free to chase the 3 year old. They have these at bed bath and beyond, amazon and Wal-Mart for around $20-$30 Duh! I forgot about this kind of thing.

We do a lot of water play, especially on the really hot SC days. My kids love the sprinkler at home and splash pads when we go out.
One thing I do a lot is give them a huge bowl of ice to play with on the drive way. They can "draw" with it, my littlest likes to eat it, and it's a free, easy way to cool off.

This is a great thread. I never realized all the stuff we have been missing out on.
We usually visit parks/playgrounds.
Delaware doesn't really have any splash pads which stink!
We have a ton our outdoor toys in the backyard that he plays with.
Rainy days we visit the children's museum or indoor playground.
We also work on learning activities.
I also periodically check Pinterest for ideas too.
My DS is 2.5 so we are limited to some of the activities in the area.

I just discovered this yesterday - fill up a storage tub of water and let them play in it with a few measuring cups. My 3 kids did this for 2 hours yesterday while I lounged on the patio with a cocktail. Big win! We will be doing this weekly during summer. We did this a lot on our apartment patio last summer. I also game her extra bowls to move water between.

dizzycooks yes to music in the park! Our local park has a concert series every Wednesday night all summer long and I can't wait to take the kids! I think there are a few outdoor movie nights too

We are super fortunate to have tons of free and low cost options nearby.
Free - HOA pool - splash pad - tons of city parks - nature center with hiking trails - childrens botanical garden - storytime at the library - tween robotics/stem at the library for #1
Low cost - city pool - $5 features at the movie theater - indoor bounce house / trampoline park - science museum / kids museum - zoo - archery club through city park and rec
We are also doing weekly science experiments with #1. I'm doing my best to keep him interested in science. This week we are growing crystals (making rock candy).
We are also hitting all the snocone stands to see which one is best. Research, yo!
