cythe I agree with rebeccabunch, normally I'm not in favour of elective induction but I think your situation 1000% makes it a-ok. Would your doctor do one around 39 weeks so your H can be there? Being alone sounds terrible and I really hope that won't be the case. If she doesn't come early and they can't/won't induce I would definitely ask a close friend to come, if they are willing and offering already! If you let them know early hopefully they'd make it in time. Even if you kick them out at "go time" and are on your own for a bit after the support in the earlier stages or through that first night would be so helpful

We went to the library and the park today. DH and I played a board game during nap time and I'm just waiting for my Hawaiian meatballs to finish cooking! We are going to watch a little bit of Winnie the Pooh after supper before DD's bedtime.
Tomorrow we are going disc golfing with friends and my sister/BIL and then out for pizza. Should be fun and the place has a good playground for the kids too!

Still thinking about your situation cythe. Have you thought of hiring a doula? We had one for DS and she was one of the first people we called when we found out about #2. It is such a helpful and supportive thing to have someone trained/knowledgeable by your side through labor and delivery. I highly recommend them anyway, but with your possibility of being alone, I think it could be an excellent way for you to have additional support in place.

I did consider it, unfortunately they're kind of expensive in our areas ($700 is the lowest, $1100 is the most expensive) and sadly just not in our budget. I did ask my OB about elective inductions and she said 39 weeks is the earliest they would do it, and even then it depends on a few factors: such as soft/favorable cervix or already x cm dilated. Basically I need to be on the way before they do it.

cythe I'm so sorry you're in this difficult position. I am going to be crossing my fingers, toes, and eyes for you to have this baby in the window where your DH can be there, and if not possible - when your mom can make it.

H got up with DD again so I could sleep (we usually trade off days on the weekend). They were watching the "dinosaur movie" when I got up (FFSC we let our 2 yr old watch Jurassic Park - she loves it) so I made waffles for everyone. Our plans include nothing big today which is just how I like it.

I came here with the intention of talking about my morning but now all I need to say is that I was unsure of what was for Second Breakfast but now I know it's waffles.

H's ship left port this morning at 9 or something, everyone had to be on board at 6 am though. Since its hot as balls on the ship, he opted to get a few hours of sleep at home and just go in really early to the ship.
So, my day started at 3:40, but thankfully I made it home without incident and was able to fall back asleep for a few hours. I'm about to get up and have second breakfast (first was some PB crunch at 4:30 am), it's going to be a good day!

rebeccabunch How did Day 1 of potty training go? We decided to do the same thing this weekend. danvers Feel better! cythe That's terrible, hopefully this baby decides to come when you have a support person around. I'm late to this but people have given you some good advice already. Sending you hugs, I can't imagine how stressful that is.

We hung around the house yesterday doing the potty training thing. This baby is doing some serious stretching out, my ribs hurt and I've was getting shortness of breath last night. Not too bad but it was noticeable.

August Blooms he has completely shocked us and done really well. Yesterday no pee accidents but we had a poop one, of course! Today he picked up just where he left off. Going without our prompting or even when I run to a different floor. I remember from that book and my past experience that there's a harder day coming. The novelty wears off a bit maybe? We will see. H and I are nervous about the next poop. How about you guys?!?

I think DS2 has been doing better than we thought bc he wants to do everything DS1 does and has been watching him use the potty forever. Our regress day will come and I'll come here to complain.

Has anyone watched the show Power? It's on Starz but they replay on Hulu which is how I watch. Someone at work mentioned it so I started watching and had zero expectations. It's not The Wire or anything but it's entertaining and I'm hooked.
I have maybe 2 eps to go in season 1 wondering if it keeps up being good into season 2.

cythe, just wanted to give you big creepy internet hugs with your situation. Hoping bubs will decide to make an appearance just before DH gets shipped. I'm also certain if you reach out to let your friends know someone will be there with you to help. Regardless all of us will be with you in spirit and support. Makes me sick to my stomach knowing people relish exerting their authority for such an unjust cause. Not like we're at war or anything! I'm furious for you.

Well, I guess the MOTN wake ups weren't from too much cake! Turns out DS came down with a cold and ran a slight temp yesterday but seems much better today. Also he may have an allergic reaction to the sunscreen I had slathered on him for school. He started breaking out in a horrid rash on his face and neck ☹️ The day after which I find odd since he got a bath 🤷🏻♀️And took 3 days for his angry red itchy skin to finally calm down. I'm hoping that's what it is. Gah! I'll have to find another sunscreen for him this week. Amazon is going to lurve me. 😩 Also I'm not sure if I caught his cold now or I just have pregnancy congestion.

CoachTsWife, our DS defied all attempts to 'potty train' him. We showed him the basics of how to use the potty but after that, he wasn't going to do a damn thing until he was ready. One day out of nowhere after we'd all but given up he decided he was going to start peeing in the potty. That was it. Around 3 years old. The poop took another 3 months but again, nothing we did made any difference. He didn't care about rewards or punishments. He just started going when he was ready.

I need to read back through to catch up.
Saturday morning we went to a breastfeeding class at the hospital. it's all coming back to me now. DH said it helped him to feel more excited and ready. Up to now it's just been this,"oh yeah we're having another baby" vague feeling. I actually feel the same way!
We tried to move DS to his bed Friday night, but there was way too much stuff in there. Saturday we cleared out everything but the bed, dresser, and empty bookcase. He slept through the night and napped for his full 2 hours today. I'm hoping he falls asleep soon and continues this good pattern.

Thinking of you, cythe, and hoping that the stars align so that your H is there for the birth. rebeccabunch, August Blooms, Hope PT is going well for everyone. Don't stress about it too much. We're still working with DS. We're still doing diapers for overnights and naps. Also, he's great about pee, but refused to poop in the potty. He asks for a diaper, hides in the corner to poop, then has us change the diaper. He recently started making himself poop at night after we put him to bed as a way to avoid bedtime and get us to come back in his room. It's driving me crazy, but this too shall pass. He'll be 100% potty trained at some point, right? duskymonkey, DS was having reactions to every sunscreen. The allergist and dermatologist recommended Vanicream and it has been awesome. Here is the link: www.psico.com/product/vanicream-sunscreen50/ rebeccabunch, adding POwer to my watch list.

I actually think the baby may help you here because he may not want to be like the baby and only go in the potty. As for Power, keep in mind it's not winning Emmy best drama but it's good. It's like the Stringer Bell part of The Wire, or more where he wanted to get to in his life, but more soapy and it works. We just finished Ozark which a lot of people raved about and I thought it was Ok but not great. Jason Bateman was amazing, the whole show, will get nominated for an Emmy but otherwise it seemed kind of heavy handed and the writing could've been better. There is a better show in here somewhere and I think it will come out next season. Point being, I like Power better than Ozark.

blackmamba Shes not going to be 100% trained but we're off to a good start... I'm not worrying about it because the more I talk to people the more I realize that it's a spectrum of PT, similar to kids sleep. They all are different. So far we diaper at nap and night time, we've only had one poop and it went in the toilet. She's getting better at telling me when she needs to go too. She's back to daycare tomorrow so that should be interesting. And +1 to Power, I'm not caught up on the current season but it's really good.

I'll look into this and did not know Vanicream made sunscreens. I do know one of my friend's kid has really bad eczema and that was the only cream that helped. Funny thing is that DS has no allergies to anything which we are aware off. I also found out that they had applied sunscreen on top of what I had applied and now don't know if he's reacting to the combo or ours or the schools. Mind boggling!!?? SaveSaveSaveSave

duskymonkey I'm surprised they applied more on top of what he had. I thought schools these days required doctor' a notes and the bottle provided by home in order for Sun screen to be applied because of allergies. That's what I've heard from all my mom friends. I had to provide the sunscreen and fill out a medical form when DD was in daycare and they would only use the one I have her on her.

mkrupar, we have an option to use our personal SS or the schools. DS hasn't had any allergic reactions to anything so we figured he would be ok. We are also required to put on SS prior to drop off in the am. After speaking with the staff and teachers, they said that they've had some kids get sunburned cos the parents didn't put them on and as a precaution unless instructed or notified otherwise by parents, they put it on the kids before giong out. The sun is really intense out here. Anyways I had them put a little of what they use on the back of his neck yesterday and hat on him and it looks like he has a reaction to the stock they're using which is a bummer. I had put one of the 2 we use at home oh his arms and legs and so far so good. I'll try it on his face and neck tomorrow since it appears the irritation is cleared up. Poor kid is getting experimented on. ☹️
