Here are some ideas I have. My DS is 2.5, so close in age to your boys. So excited for the adoption too!! Please keep us updated on how it goes 😀 -Play kitchen with play food and accessories. We have the IKEA play kitchen and love it. -Melissa and Doug play food (this can go with the play kitchen theme too!) -Dress up clothes and a chest or nice box for them to go in (emergency responders, doctor kits, super hero costumes, etc) - Art studio - IKEA has a really cool easel that has a chalk board on one side, white board on the other, and then roll of paper in the middle. You could get chalk, dry erase markers, paints, crayons, colored pencils. There is also a table top holder for the giant paper roll, which could be nice if you don't want to use the easel. -Library of fun books - Richard Scarry books are great (cars and trucks and things that go, best word book ever, what to people do all day, best story book ever), I Spy Books are fun for toddlers (lots to look at and big pages), Star Wars books for little kids - some have stickers in them or Star Wars characters, which DS loves. - Balance bikes. We don't have one, but our neighbor has a 4 yr old who loves his. - Train table or train set. I know so many 2-4 year olds who just love Thomas and love playing with train sets on a train table. This is all I can think of for now - will be back with more ideas when they come to mind!

My two year old boy is currently obsessed with trains, so H and I have already discussed getting him a really nice train table as his "big" gift. Otherwise, things he loves are:
- Play-Doh - Duplo Legos (great to put on a wish list, because in our house, it's the more the better) - He's still really into all things Little People, like his farm and animals, but not sure if your boys are maybe starting to outgrow that - Play kitchen, my six year old niece still likes playing with DS' when she comes over - We just bought him the play tent/tunnel from Ikea, and that has been a big hit, he likes hoarding his toys in it (bonus: less toys on the floor!) - Tool boxes/sets - Instrument sets - DS just got one a couple months ago for his birthday that has a little xylophone, shakers, jingle bells, etc. and he really loves it. He's just started "singing" recently, so he likes being able to make noise while he sings songs.

Congratulations on the adoption! Im over the moon happy for you guys!
3y.o. Is such a fun age for toys since they can engage a lot more in pretend play and are still entertained by most things. Its hard not to put the entire toy store in your shopping cart.
-Train table. Ikea makes inexpensive wooden train sets. I dont know if they make a table but you can find a ton on Amazon -a play kitchen like the Ikea one posted above. Im planning on getting it for K this year. -one of those rugs with roads and buildings on them. -a bird feeder. I know this sounds strange but if you live where it's cold and snows, bird feeders can be hugely entertaining when you are stuck inside. K loved watching the birds at the feeder and you can use it to teach about nature, science etc.

This is what my son loved at 3:
balance bike scooter skateboard matchbox cars/monster trucks remote controlled cars (they make some that are great for this age with less/easy buttons) bristle blocks legos (OMG legos! he was/is completely obsessed) a guitar (a kid drumset would probably work well also) super heroes ninja turtles paw patrol We just got my 3 year old niece a Doc McStuffins veterinary set, which she loves. Vet sets/doctor sets are great for this age group.

Yay!!! Christmas lists! I've got two little people to buy Christmas presents for and then the boy's birthday is three days after Christmas so my lists get made in April and I buy year round so you are speaking my language right now!!!
My son is turning three in December so really close to the age you are shopping for. He is getting a train table and Brio sets for Christmas which I know he will like since he hogs the train tables anywhere we go. For his birthday he is getting magnatiles and the Melissa and Doug toy piano. He loves loves loves musical instruments so I'm pretty excited about that one. he is also getting some board games since that seems to be about the right age to start those. I'm thinking Sneaky Snacky Squirrel, Hi Ho Cherrio, Zingo, and a Curious George matching game. And books. We always get books.
He got a play kitchen last year and it is a big hit. I recommend the Learning Resources food sets. First of all, they have lots of really cute sets. Second, the food is realistic and durable but it isn't wood so it isn't quite as destructive if thrown. We have quite a few of the sets and they hold up really well.
I also really like getting my kids Skip Hop sets. My son has the dinosaur backpack, water bottle, plate, bowl and utensils. I'm getting the Panda set for my daughter this year. They could be fun for your boys to have their own sets if you don't have anything like that for them. I know my son loves to pack his own backpack.
Also! If your boys are really good about not putting stuff in their mouths, my son is OBSESSED with marble runs. I already had one from when I was a kid but he frickin loves that thing. He calls the marbles "narmles" and I can't bring myself to correct him.
Oh! I also got him the Scleich Griffin Knights. They are action figures that my husband has been eyeing forever. I actually bought my son the griffin set and my husband the dragon set so they can play together and neither one has to share. Lol.
