IMMS that last night I made shortcut chicken cacciatore-ish (leftover roasted chicken, semi-homemade marinara, pasta) and Nugget, in-between stuffing her face with "noodle-oodles" stopped for a second and said "Thank you!" <3<3<3!

It's so cute and he does it appropriately for the most part. There's a lot around our house that could be accompanied by an uh oh. And he does recognize that he's not supposed to drop food. But he likes to feed the dogs, so "uh oh" but come here dogs.

Yup, same in our house! Nugget goes "Uh-oh!" and then points to the food and says "Jax!" (Jackson is the dog's name). Even when the gate is up and Jackson is out of the kitchen.

IMMS that my 3 year old just brought me a cold beer while I was pulling weeds and trimming bushes. Totally unprompted.
And no I don't usually drink while gardening but I drank it today because I'm not rude!

IMMS that my husband just called me with the news that the dog we had to take back to the rescue a few weeks ago just got adopted! So relieved that she will be in a home now. I know especially J was really upset about the fact that she had to go back to the (no kill) shelter. It's like a weight has been lifted, to know she'll have a family now.

We have most of the season sitting on our DVR currently! We've been watching World Of Dance (which is amaaaaazing dancing also) and wanted to finish that series before starting on SYTYCD. I was so happy to see the new season is back to normal dancers, couldn't get into the last season with the kids....

They were amazing and all, but not on the same level. And I am just not a huge fan of kid competition shows.

IMMS that D is excited about starting school this year. (1st year of middle school) He hasn't always loved school in the past. So any positivity from him is a great thing.
It also MMS that G still thinks that when D goes back to school he gets to be done with preschool. Sorry kid. Not the way it works. I think maybe they've talked about being done with the summer program and he thinks that means done done?

Z took her first steps last night! She was so proud of herself after being grumpy and refusing to sit all through dinner. After being months behind w because of the fluid in her ears, she's finally starting to catch up with him.

IMMS that C is starting to sign regularly. She's got her own meanings ("more" usually means "feed me"), but I'm seriously loving the communication.

P is obsessed with shoes even though she hardly ever wears any. "shhssss" Also "hot" - for a while she just blows anytime something comes out of the microwave or off the stove, or is in a coffee mug. Then yesterday she started saying "hot" then blowing. Blowing also indicates bubbles. I also LOVE the undecipherable mumbles like she's speaking a whole sentence in gibberish to herself.

I am so fascinated and excited to see toddler language development. Nugget is generalizing ideas and words and it's awesome to witness. She's also obsessed with things being "hot" and associates steam or smoke with "hot." We were at a soccer game last week and they set off smoke when the team scored and she kept yelling "HOT! HOT!' and pointing at the smoke. It amazes me how their tiny brains are programmed to learn language in such a systematic way. #psychologynerd I wish I could understand more words, though, she has been saying "Fye-ah" for the past few days and we cannot figure out what she is referring to (not fire, obviously).

Nothing to do with talking, but C is OBSESSED with shoes. I don't really want to put her in shoes yet, since she's just learning to walk, but she demands it. Every time I mention something along the lines of, "Let's get ready to head out" she makes a beeline for her shoes (which are often strewn among the morass of shoes by the door) and gets really upset if I don't put them on RIGHT NOW. She even climbs into the little IKEA chairs that we have over there, because that's where I put on M's shoes.

It's so funny because z doesn't really care if she's wearing shoes or not (and they generally only wear them at daycare or w when we're out because he wants help walking everywhere).

I can't wait for Z to get some words. Right now, anytime we tell her she can't do something, she gives us a lecture on why she needs to do something. It's obviously a well thought out argument, but it only makes sense to her.

P shakes her head no while she's doing things she shouldn't. Like eating my shoes, or climbing something. Internalize that shit yo.
