We had a nice little storm last night. I didn't know it was coming and was quite surprised. Luckily the kids slept through it. There's 1.5 inches in my garden water gauge. I wouldn't be surprised if the official number is higher because it definitely sounded like it was coming down sideways at one point.
The plan is to get stuff done today, getting mh's car inspected, little house projects, and get ready for our BBQ, etc. But right now I'm going to enjoy this cup of coffee in silence. Why can't my kids chill like this when it's just me during the week?!

Oh! I just saw in the news that sil's former apartment building is having an arson problem. 7 fires in the last couple weeks, I guess in common areas and hallways. It was only a couple blocks from my apartment building. Crazy! Guess we moved to the burbs just in time.

Still in bed and just sent DS and H out for donuts but I hear M waking up. She was up from 4:30-5:30. I fed her, rocked her, paced with her, and she was just so grouchy that I finally gave her Tylenol thinking it's her teeth or maybe the start of an ear infection (she has a cough and runny nose). She fell asleep quickly after that thank goodness but after 2 nights of this, I'm not pleased.

Lakes crazy! When I lived in Boston we had a serial car arsonist on my block. That was awesome. L was up 5-7 last night booooo. I think he's sick. Does anyone have any tips for distracted eating? If his brother is anywhere within hearing distance he immediately loses interest in eating (breast or bottle) and strains to find big bro to watch whatever he's doing. It's not always practical for me to feed him in his room with his door closed, esp with MH recovering from surgery. Halp!

B got up at 5:15 so that was cool...
Went to make banana bread this morning and then realized I'm out of sugar.
DH had guys working on siding our house so I'm solo today. Naturally I fled to my parents for an extra hand.
MIL is babysitting tonight after the kids go down so we can have a nice dinner out.

Dd and I are walking to the library to pick up the book I requested so I'm using the single stroller which I haven't used in forever. I love my double and it's quite small compared to others but now the single seems so tiny! The slightest movement sends it swerving. I'm cracking myself up.

Confession: I feel slightly embarrassed when I pick up my historical romance books from the library. Especially when they didn't have it and had to request it from a neighboring library.

rinny no tips for the distracted eating but all of the solidarity. M is doing the same thing and I agree that I can't always abandon my toddler to feed her. Sorry you were up overnight too!

For those with girls- did you get their ears pierced? If so when?
I am debating on doing it now before she realizes or wait until she asks. I had mine done when I was 5 I remember how upset I got and how much it hurt.

peaseblossom55 we will not pierce M's until she asks. I have no desire to deal with cleaning/maintaining/replacing earrings when she isn't even aware of it. I got mine done when I was 5 and I remember it hurt but not enough to deter me from getting another hole pierced when I was 13.

I was 5 or 6 when I got my ears done. I haven't really thought about it for DD yet. I'll probably wait until she's old enough to ask.

Add me to the list of distracted eaters. Q just will not eat if anything us going in. He also kept waking up last night from 3:39 on, so pass me all the coffee ☕

peaseblossom55 I got my ears pierced when I was 3 because I had been asking for it. I remember it hurt but my mom gave me a lollipop right after the first piercing. It's hard to cry and eat candy, also I hardly ever got hard candy at that age so I felt extra special. I am team wait till they ask it is such a pita to clean and maintain if they don't even want it imo.

I had mine done in 1st grade as my birthday present. It was a BIG DEAL to me. I don't remember it hurting that much but it made me feel like such a big kid (lol) to decide to get them done. Aaaaaand then I stopped wearing earrings by middle school and the damn things still won't close up. However it is handy for special occasions like prom and my wedding. It's how mh knows I'm being super fancy 😂

M has already cried 3 times since going to bed and has coughed a ton. I think we have a long night ahead.
I gave her formula for the first time today so of course my guilt has me convinced that's the cause. Even though she's had a cough for 3 days.

DH and I had a nice date night. MIL and her friend came by after I put B down and they had dinner then put DD to bed. We went to this upscale Mexican place and had margaritas and awesome food. Then we found a hip little coffee shop that had a few pool tables and played a couple of games. It was fun to do something together that wasn't just a rushed dinner.
Of course we got home late then H wanted to get busy...so we didn't get to bed until late. Then B was up at 5:20.
Worth it...but so tired this morning.

Yum ellabee! That sounds like a fun date night and having something spontaneous thrown in makes it even better! Taking M to urgent care in a couple hours. It's my first time taking one of our kids and I'm picturing it being a shit show. But my poor girl fussed and coughed all night and I think she must have an ear infection. I can't make her do it another night if there's a good chance some antibiotics will help her out.

carrots oh no I hope M feels better soon and that it goes smoother than expected. ellabee that sounds really nice, I'm glad you guys had a good time. I started supplementing with formula for Q. I have lots of feels and mom guilt as well. Today is just a general tidying day. If I am feeling adventurous I may go to the store but I doubt it. There has been SO much rain. The roads have been flooding here and I just don't know if I want to risk going out.

ambiguousmango it's amazing how strong that guilt is even though we know logically that it's what our babies need! I'm hoping once it's been a few days, I'll feel some relief about having less pressure to provide enough for her.

ambiguousmango hugs, lady. I remember when we started my first on a bottle of formula a day it was all the mixed feels. Guilt and yet also relief that there would always be enough for him to eat. You've made it so far and have done a great job! peaseblossom55 boooooo for only 1 nap carrots poor babe hope everything's ok

L has started doing this new thing where he wraps his arms around my head and squeezes his face against mine as hard as he can. Sometimes it's his cheek onto my cheek and sometimes he is trying to eat my face.
