I've always been vocal (maybe not here but I gotta keep on lol) about thinking second showers are tacky. That said, I think it depends on a lot of things. For me, if I was invited to a third shower or something, and there were 100 people invited and 3 registries, I'd be rolling my eyes so hard. I do think that every baby should be celebrated, absolutely. It's just the gifts I feel weird about. I also know that people just genuinely want to give gifts sometimes. Even if you said no gifts, people would still show up with gifts. All that to say, it's hard and I don't have any real advice lol. That's why I would want to keep the guest list small and contained to those who would be getting us gifts anyway, literally family and our few best friends. I don't want to make anyone feel like they have to get us a gift but I know our immediate family will get us something anyway, shower or not. Ughhh. I'm really just thinking (typing?) out loud at this point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Haha I hear you, I was doing the same. End of the day: If your family is excited about throwing you a shower, I'd just roll with it. If you were throwing yourself one, we'd be having a different discussion.

Taitai, When H's niece had her second girl, her MIL threw her a similar shower. Sprinkles in general are also not uncommon around here. Some have them, some don't. I also used to think that family showers in general were tacky (as opposed to being thrown by a non family member), but my SIL absolutely insisted on throwing me a family shower for DD and no one seemed to think it was unusual. I feel like I'll get an eye roll from at least one person if they do throw it bc everyone has their opinion. I've created registries strictly for the completion discounts but there are only a handful of items on both of them bc it's more of a shopping list for myself. I guess I could ask that they not be printed on the invite? Hmmm Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't have a problem with showers for 2nd kids. We don't really do it in my circle, but I never eyeroll and opportunity for cake. 😂😂
I think if it's family and a few close friends no one will bat an eye.
We won't be having a shower for 2.0, but I would like to throw a house warming/meet the baby party in October or early November. I'm sure some people will side eye, but new home, new baby, reason for cake. How can you hate on that?

And when you get into the territory of second/third showers or sprinkles, people are going to have different opinions. I would say it might be a good idea not to put the registry on the invite - just so it doesn't look like a gift grab. Again - they are throwing the party, so there is only so much you can do. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Drink Champagne and have everyone meet the baby all at once, I'm In! (Also as an added cute bonus if I have a boy I wanted to call it "boy meets world") Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

thatgirlrachel in my family we do not throw each other showers. My friends organized a shower for DS1. However, DH's cousin has three boys and there was at least one shower held for each baby. I rolled my eyes. DH's brother's wife had like 4 or 5 showers for their first and I think at least 2 for their second. Major eye rolls. Obviously every family is different! I do not think what you're suggesting is terrible. If you keep it small and intimate with only people who likely will give gifts anyway and do not advertise your registries, I think you're good. I have my registries this time marked as private or something so they can't be found when searching the registries at the stores. Like you said, I only have them for the completion discount and as a way to keep track of what I need.

Taitai, I can't believe your H flew with all that stuff! He's a trooper and did an awesome job! Kudos to Mr. Taitai! thatgirlrachel, the event you're describing doesn't sound bad. I agree with what everyone else has been saying. Don't overthink it and have fun! I'm also down for a sip and see, but I get nervous about having tons of people around during cold season. Also, what kind of shoes are people wearing these days? Between my back hurting and feet swelling/getting sore, my options are limited. Any recommendations for cute, comfortable shoes are appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One more thing. I usually wash my hair every other day. On wash days, I blow it out or air dry it and the next day I curl it. Today was curl day. Bad news is I made steak for dinner last night and as I was curling it I realized my hair smelled like meat. I had no time to wash and start over. The good news is some dry shampoo saved the day AND I had the best.hair day. Ever. Beachy waves, volume, texture, no frizz, didn't look "done." I'm delaying going to bed because my hair is pretty and I don't want it to end.
Tl;dr: my hair is glorious and smells like meat

blackmamba, I'm LOLing at your glorious meat hair 😂😂 Glad you had such a great hair day! Thanks for the input everyone! My mom also mentioned possibly making it a diaper and wipes shower instead of a "misc" shower. I wonder if that would look "better" to everyone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Also, I had the same thought about cold season & people, so I'll see how I feel after baby arrives.

Just got back from the vet. We walk up there since it's only a 5 minute walk but my dog knows how to turn it into a 20 minute adventure. Anything good? Or just same old, same old? Related: Casper has thrown up twice and has diarrhea today. I'm not worried, per se, but I'm annoyed that my vet said they'd call to check up on him yesterday and they haven't at all. I'm gonna call them tomorrow.
I think he's allergic to the outside. He got some ear medication and allergy pills. Poor guy. The walk was good for him though.
Hope your kitty returns to normal soon!

thatgirlrachel, to add to what everyone else said, as long as you aren't throwing your own shower for #2, I think it is perfectly fine!
