FFC - I have felt "free" all week with no fitbit on. Like I can move and do what i want with no worries of if it's counting my steps, how far behind am i in a challenge, and did i get my 250 steps in per hour. it's kind of liberating.
(wow, i have not 1 but 2 confessions this week. sometimes i even impress myself)

High five to feeling free RunsforWineandCarbs! I stopped wearing mine like...6 weeks ago? I'm still active but I don't stress much about it. For some reason those challenges were starting to give me agita. Like even though I felt like I was busting my ass it wasn't enough. My type A personality can't handle that haha

I also don't know what red shirting is. I mean, in Star Trek the red shirts are always sent to investigate some random occurrence and always end up dying...
...but I feel like that's not what we're talking about here

I left work and went straight to the local brewry yesterday. It was amazing. 2 craft beers, and it was even happy hour so my bill was only $10 including tip.
I'm having a really hard time living with my IL's. I want to cry all the time. I'm having a hard time focusing at work because of it. It wouldn't be so bad but step-FIL is kind of a dick. I feel like I have to tip toe around him, and I'm afraid he's going to tell us we're total slobs and expect WAY more out of us to keep up on keeping stuff clean. He's a bit OCD about stuff. I mean, we try, but with 2 kids, and piles of random stuff everywhere, it's had to keep everything organized. When I fold laundry, there's no where to put it, so it sits in piles. And for the love of God, there's no dishwasher, so I have to hand wash every.single.thing. And we're washing dishes in a utility sink with a tiny strainer on a little table next to their washer. I'm a total spoiled brat. What is wrong with me?!

My type A personality can't handle that haha I was feeling like this during my family challenges. Some of my aunts were walking like 22,000-30,000 steps a day. And I started to get down on myself when I still had pretty decent numbers which is so dumb haha. And they're farmers, so of course they're walking all day.

Oh mamallama , that would kill me too. Can you guys do a weekend away? Maybe in a couple of weeks to give you something to look forward to? Redshirting I guess is traditionally used in college sports, skipping your freshman year of play b/c you're "not good enough" but then still having 4 years of eligibility. That's how I understand it. So it is broadened to describe skipping a year of something even though you are eligible. ETA: I could be off on my explanation a bit but I feel like that is the basic deal

mamallama, 5-6 weeks isn't that long! You can totally do it. I know when you're in it, 5-6 weeks can feel like 5-6 years. But girl, you got this. Just make the best of it. Go to that brewery a few times a week, take the kids out as much as you can, and just KOKO with your own meals. It sucks washing dishes, but maybe you can buy paper plates/utensils?

RunsforWineandCarbs, totally. This Saturday, I'm thinking the park right after breakfast with a bag of snacks to keep there until lunch. Next weekend we might go out for breakfast and maybe go to the zoo. It's going to be an expensive month of going out and alcohol!

mamallama, so what if it's expensive. It's keeping everyone happy. You're not paying a mortgage or utilities. I think it's a good trade off for some sanity.

Isaac has been watching way to much tablet and movies this last week but it's allowed me to get a little extra sleep in the morning and get the vacuuming done.

mamallama cry all you need. It's hard AF, and my ILs weren't nearly as bad I'd bet. They have to realize their home and life will change with you guys there. Try not to beat yourself up about that, if FIL gets uptight, that's on him not you. Try your best and release it (waaaay easier said then done). If it gets bad, I'd have YH have a sit down wth them.

My Dad comes in town Sat for DSs bday party on Sun. I only see him twice a year for the kids birthdays - he live across the country. Im excited, but I'm more excited because when I drive to the city to pick him up, I'm going to spend the day shopping for back to work clothes, and I have a massage booked.

FFC - i have no idea what this red shirt policy you people are speaking of. Ha. "Redshirting" is a term borrowed from college sports– you have 4 years of eligibility to play, and so sometimes they will keep a player out for their first year (assuming they'll take five years to graduate), so that they can get stronger, and still have four years eligibility. There's been a trend to "redshirt" kids going into kindergarten, particularly if they are on the younger end of the cutoff. So, they wait until they're six or nearly six to start, and the thought is that they are then more advanced, cognitively and physically, and will often then have an advantage– placing into higher classes, being better at sports, etc.

RunsforWineandCarbs and jess213, now you have me feeling bad about the Fitbit challenges making you feel bad! I've been missing seeing you both in there, but they definitely shouldn't be making you anxious!

Seriously in any given day, this was a little blip on the anxiety/Type A radar I didn't even really realize it until I lost the charger and couldn't wear it for a few days...I realized I felt calmer about without doing the challenges, does that make sense?

A massage plus something magical called a "neurospa". No idea what to expect is complete relaxation.

Definitely makes sense, jess213! Exercise should be relieving anxiety; if tracking it is doing the opposite, then definitely lose the tracker!

I'm thinking my Type A Uber competitive self wouldn't do so well with a Fitbit. I'll scratch that off my list is "wish" items.
