It's cat dentist day, so I've been wake since 4 just waiting for my alarm to go off so I could get up and start my day.
Technically, was supposed to be up at 6 but I got a headstart and therefore got Casper to the vet right as they opened, which meant he was the first patient to be seen today! He should be coming out of anesthesia by now and they said I could probably come get him around noon. I'll be much happier when he's back home!

cythe That's great you were able to get Casper in as the first patient. Fingers crossed he comes out of anesthesia today and that he will be back to his normal self before you know it! As for us - DS continues with the teething and was asking for ice chips all day. He doesn't really like cold chews to suck on - just wants ice chips all the time! At least he got lots of fluids today. I can't wait for the teeth to break through - then we will have a full set of baby teeth and DS will be done with teething forever!!!

Has anyone read the book The Nix? I started and stopped it anumber of times but finally committed and really like it. I'm not done yet but I'm flying through it.

cythe I hope everything goes (went) well for your cat this morning. Glad you were able to get in first too! I have a regular OB appt today. I'm a little nervous about my blood pressure (which probably isn't helping my BP). It slowly creeped up with DD right around this time and it's just one more thing that feels like it's out of my control during pregnancy. Otherwise, I think my day is lunch out with a friend and a nap. School starts in a week and I'm really going to miss these lazy days!

danvers, your mention of BP made me go back and look at my journal from DS (I wrote down so much more than I have with #2.) Starting around 35-36 weeks I began having episodes of increased BP and blurred vision which led to on-the-spot NSTs at L&D. I apparently also went from 36-38 weeks with no changes in weight or fundal height, so they sent me for an impromptu growth ultrasound. I actually didn't remember that happening until rereading this. Luckily we made it to 39w 2d but I had forgotten all the little scares in the month before then. Hopefully this pregnancy is more chill for both of us!

Good morning. It's my first day back to work so I'm swamped trying to catch up. It does help the day fly by though, so I won't complain.
I'm still obsessing over my possible DR and what it might mean for my recovery process. Fortunately, I have an U/S and a midwife appointment Thursday so I can ask all the questions and sound like a total newb over it.

Good morning! My mom, sister and MIL are coming over for coffee and muffins this morning to make a babysitting schedule for DD for the month of September since I'm still working then. Their vacations are back to back in August so we had to meet now already!

cythe I hope your kitty comes out from anesthesia well and feels better Is there a growth spurt around 27/28w? My bump is super sore today and it feels like I did a killer ab workout yesterday.

cythe I hope Casper has a quick recovery! racegurl87 I know everyone is different but I'm 28 weeks and I feel like all of a sudden I've gone from cute bump to huge bump. I've got a short torso so I think it's due to the fact it can't go up anymore so now it's going out. DD stayed home with me, it's super hot so we went to the playground by the lake which is much cooler for me and has a splash pad but she didn't want to go in. We have her first dentist appointment this afternoon. I'm a little sad thinking about how this is the last bit of time I have just the one and how very soon things will change.

Third tri is when BP starts to go up, so I know it's hard not to worry, but it's good you're aware and monitoring it. I'm fully prepared for an increase in my BP med dosage in the coming weeks.

Thanks for all the good thoughts ladies! We are home and he's doing awesome.
The vet ended up pulling a small tooth, and she said she was pretty surprised that she had to pull anything because his teeth looked great overall. Sometimes, I guess cats just reabsorb a tooth (is what she said). Once they started cleaning they found an issue beneath the gum line and the root of the tooth had already started to disintegrate. I'm happy they found something because it was pretty clear the last few weeks that something wasn't right.
Overall, he hated the car ride there and back but is happy to be home and really happy that I finally let him eat!

cythe I'm so happy Casper is home and resting. Our Chihuahua had to have all 7 of his front teeth pulled because of an infection we couldn't get under control. He hasn't had any trouble because he chews his kibble with his back teeth and he's never been one who tore at things. This was several years ago.

cythe, glad your kitty is ok!! On that note, our pup keeps getting ear infections... it's frustrating because the last time he had one - probably last fall, we got it all cleared up and now it's back. I'm taking him to the vet on Friday to get more meds and figure out the cause!! We know he's got allergies and he needs a bath but I don't think it's normal for his ears to get infected so often.

August Blooms I'm having the same feels. I've been trying to get out with DS as much as possible to do fun mommy and DS things. cythe Yay, happy to hear it went well today! duskymonkey Oh no! Hope you didn't have to wait much longer, that sounds like quite a while.

We've had a busy day! Today is the first day of our county fair, so I took DS to see some of the 4-H animals. Then we met up with a few other moms/children at a splash pad for an hour. DS went down for nap with zero protest, lol. Not sure what the rest of the day will look like yet, probably a walk and playground stop. Like I said before, just trying to get as much DS and mommy time as possible in these last couple months.

August Blooms , I'm in the short torso club as well and right niow I feel like I have a torpedo emerging out of my belly. It's also getting in the way. I've been having to retrieve things sideways from the upper kitchen cabinets and barely can get anything off the 2nd shelf 😩 I've also been dropping food on my belly cos can't pull close enough to the table during meal times. I feel like an uncoordinated slob.

codex320 , sorry about your poor pup's EI. When I had a dog, I used to clean his ear out with Qtips after every bath weekly. Dogs ears are so gross! I miss him though and can't have another pet. Just can't handle their demise. ðŸ˜

Taitai, responding to the other thread, is your DH back yet? So glad you've got your nanny willing to go the extra mile for you whom you can trust. I assume she's Thai? Or SEA? That's one really great thing with people back home and even some other cultures, they don't think twice about doing extras to help out and won't nickel and dime you about it too and there is no need to ask, they'll just do it. My sister had a Columbian sitter for several years and she would sweep and fold laundry and sometimes help my mom cook dinner when the kids napped. Though, my sister would make sure she got a nice bonus at Christmas and also gave her paid vacations. She would even come during fed holidays! Lol! She's become part of our family. Sis was so relieved to finally find her after a string of frustrating "sitters" esp. with my special needs nephew.

At the same time I'm trying to soak up the pregnancy because I don't plan on doing this again, either...so many feelings!!

We had a good transition into the toddler bed, but not PT, so I'm waiting until she's ready.. you gotta do what's best for you and A, not because there's a baby coming! cythe, I'm way late but so glad your kitty is ok! I'm also in the boat with those of you worried about being so tired but trying to make the most out of the time I have wth just DD. There are some days I wonder if I've done "wrong" by her by making her an older sister so young and taking away our one on one time. But I know that's silly. On the other hand, I'm so glad my kids will be so close in age and I hope they have that close bond that I desire for them. In the meantime, I'll try my best to suck it up and push on to make the most out of these next two months with her as an only child. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

racegurl87 I think there must be another growth spurt around the 27/28 week mark. I am 28 weeks and my bump was so sore and the muscles were feeling stretched/torn over the weekend. duskymonkey DH comes home tonight (really really late)! So in like 15 hours. I can't wait for him to be home. He'll have been gone for 9 full days and we're definitely ready for him to be back. Also - our nanny is Thai. She's amazing and she is basically a part of our family. We have her and her daughter over for holidays and do birthday celebrations - all that jazz. She's been with us 3.5 years now, so she knows our routines and is basically like a godmother to DS. We're so fortunate to have her. If I could bring her back with us to the states some day I would, but it's so, so hard to get visas to the U.S. I really wish the USA had a better guest worker visa program...childcare costs are outrageous in the U.S. and I think a guest worker nanny/caregiver program (like they have in Hong Kong and Singapore) would be so beneficial to so many families in the USA. Oh well - don't see that changing anytime soon, esp with the current rise of xenophobia I have been seeing in the states.
