Watching Christmas movies and Gilmore Girls. I just watched the episode in season 1 where Lorelai blurts out "I don't like George Bush! His face is too small for his head, it's weird." in front of Christopher's parents and they get in a fight.

I bought myself a stand mixer in a beautiful color called mint julep. Also, I can’t bake. I already made a terrible pound cake.
I’m buying (too many) outdoor decorations for Christmas because I am making everything mother fucking festive this year.
Pricing out travel for spring break next year.
Fuck it. Fuck it all.

I don’t know, but in New Zealand there was a protest in parliament and a Māori lawmaker performed the haka and I cannot get enough of it. I cry any time I see a haka. |

I’m taking care of my health. I already did my physical in the past few months, along with routine bloodwork. I had a cardiac CT scoring done, which I paid out of pocket for, but it gave me peace of mind I didn’t have. (My mom died of unknown causes, so I always worry about heart disease hitting me.) I had my mammogram and breast ultrasound done this week…all lumps and bumps are stable! I couldn’t get in with my OBGYN until June, but it’s at least on the books.

I deleted FB, Insta, and Twitter from my phone. My accounts are still there, but it takes more planning and thought to access them. I’m doing a trial of Calm and listening to bedtime stories read by British people instead of nighttime doom scrolling. I am decluttering my house. And perhaps the most nonsensical thing- I am making an enormous wreath out of a balloon stand I have. This is my inspo- but with Clark Griswold quantities of lights. I will  put it in my yard. |

I love the idea of putting gratitudes on the tree. We usually do a turkey and add feathers that we write on. This year, we are making “gratitude garland”. I cut out different colored leaves and we are clipping them onto a string I stretched between some windows. I can’t wait to see it filled up. For the longest time we had a brown paper bag cut into a bare tree shape taped to the pantry door right in the kitchen. Id have fall colored construction leaves and everyone would fill one out thru the month of Nov. Wed read them at Thanksgiving I should do that again you know since m a grandma of 2 kids I gotta embrace a bit of overkill on the holidays I like all of these ideas! In 2020, we started by just writing or drawing a gratitude each day of November into a blank book. I couldn't find the book last week so the post-its were supposed to be temporary until my DS asked for the Thanksgiving tree. I'll probably find the previous years' book on 12/3. |

We’re currently putting an addition on our house so I agreed with MH that it wouldn’t make any sense to go away for spring break. We just had dinner and I explained to him that the world is burning and I will literally die if I don’t go to Cabo. |

I deleted my Facebook because it was a cesspool of sex offender supporters saying "can't we agree to disagree?". I've been trying to not make hating the bad man my entire personality but it's hard. When things like this happen, I retreat inward to my home and try to hunker down and be cosy with baking and doing things like making apple butter, etc.
Today we are going to the Holiday Spectacular at this local Melodrama place with the girl scouts. I've wanted to go for years but couldn't afford and now I get to go on Girl Scouts dime, which is great.
I'll also be hanging up my California state flag outside and pretending Gavin Newsom is my president.

Today I got my hair done, and H did the shopping trip to Costco. My hairstylist even had Christmas themed foils for my hair. 🎄 I have no plans tomorrow except decorating the trees and making soup for dinner. Might do a loaf of bread to go with it. |

I'm redoing the flowers out by the mailbox. They probably will live all winter if we cover them the week we get freezing Temps. They are alyssum white flowers that some years cover the whole circle of brick planter bed at the mailbox so it looks like it snowed in that little patch.
I have some other more delicate flowers that I'll put in pots by the door and front window to give some cheer til I have to move them to the back porch protected from cold planter area.
I was ignoring the clutter of my mind by De-cluttering and organizing (with permission) my son and dil's storage room and walk in closet. They packed things in boxes with limited labeling and trying to go thru it all to help them deal with that mess.
Of course my mind now turns to the clutter of my own garage and house of clutter and closets of things. But working on that isn't giving me much oomph of distraction and excitement.

We have a Thanksgiving tree up for the first time. It's just our pre-lit tree with only the white lights on, some dollar store harvest/Thanksgiving ribbon, and our daily dose of gratitude on different shades of yellow sticky notes. I originally wanted my kids to make construction paper leaves, but it didn't happen. I'm also trying to get back into reading for pleasure and checked out some Christmas books from libby just to escape life. It's been easier on my eyes and brain to read my paperwhite again before bed instead of doom scrolling. My neighbor gave me her old bike so I should start taking it out on a regular basis. I splurged on a bunch of new underwear that I like from Soma. When it gets here, I’m throwing away every single “uncomfortable but not ratty enough to throw away” pair I’ve been putting up with. Now I just need some coping mechanisms that aren’t retail therapy. my mom always packs those underwear for vacations then throws them away after wearing on the trip so she doesn't have to bring them home lol |

Well, Santa was supposed to bring me a hysterectomy for Christmas, but my gyn is booked until February  . I wanted to do it before Christmas because this one is going to be the literal WORST, so I figured I might as well just fully lean into the suck and my company shuts down for the week between Christmas and NY so I wouldn't have to take too much actual time off. I have also thrown myself fully into bullet journaling and have spent all my monies on washi tape and fancy markers. |
