I'm afraid I may have sent a sick kid to school this morning and I am feeling guilty and also just waiting for the call. I have no intuition when it comes to illness.

Either way itās fine. Im queen of try it out unless itās super obvious. As we were walking out yesterday dd said her stomach hurt I told her to get some breakfast and see if that helps. She was fine when I picked her up. You just donāt know and try the best.

Felt better, he never had a fever. This morning he had a dentist appointment and then as I was driving him to school he said he started to feel bad again Just got a call that he has a fever!

Ended up keeping mine home today. No fever but his nose is a faucet and he's coughing.

He also got spacers put on at his first orthodontist appointment this morning and he said one has shifted already. So I'll have to call them but obviously I can't take him back while he has a fever š«

I was reading yesterday about cases of bacterial pneumonia being on the rise so now I'm paranoid about that.
DH was diagnosed with a rare form of leukemia, which is thankfully highly treatable, but for the time being he's at higher risk of infections. I'm already dreading the holiday germ fest.

I kept DS home today after he complained about his stomach. I almost sent him and probably could have. He's had a few sharp pains but hasn't thrown up or anything. He complains about his stomach off and on, mostly due to anxiety I think. I never know what to do with him. (We're addressing it with a therapist and his pedi, but this still sucks.)

Itās just so hard to tell sometimes. DS developed a terrible cough over the past few days and we do know several friends here who have recently had walking pneumonia. I took him in yesterday and his lungs sound clear thank goodness but weāll reevaluate with a chest X-ray if he worsens. So yeah he stayed home yesterday for a cough but what can you do?

Do you need masks? We have some, thank you. He's doing fine right now - just need to keep him healthy. We have a five-year-old that loves to find germs so we'll see how that goes.

Add in allergies and she has headaches and sore throat often

We went to pick up his schoolwork and the admin said 4 kids in his class were out today, out of 18. So I'm glad we stayed home. She said they're deep cleaning his classroom tonight.

He has an actual hole in his colon, so it's not just the inflammation of the pouches on the inside of the colon (diverticulitis). The antibiotics are working but his body is also forming an abscess around the material aka š© that's leaking out. So that's causing the white blood cell count to go up even though he's on the antibiotics. Theoretically as long as he takes antibiotics until the hole closes up he should be ok. We just don't know how long that will take. Also sepsis risk just because of the foreign material in there. They're going to try oral antibiotics and if he tolerates them and his WBC doesn't skyrocket back up he should be able to come home. They're trying to avoid surgically closing the hole right now while it's inflamed because any operation right now would have him with a colostomy bag for two months. I'm so ready for him to be home and so is DS. He hates being there and I know is stressed about it so I'm sure that's not helping his body heal.
