I secretly like hanging around at kids' birthday parties talking to other parents. My kid is in 2nd grade so I would guess there will be more parties where parents leave? Anyway, I don't even know who I am.

My injector left the practice and I let the doctor do my botox and my lip flip is out of control.
I cannot use my upper lip at all. I dribble water all over myself several times a day.

We've got soccer coming up and I hope there's a good group there. I almost always never bring my little kid to birthday parties or play dates even if they're welcome mostly so that I don't have to watch him and I can just chat with parents. We went to a playground the other day with both kids and I was glad my husband came so he can play with the 3YO so I could just hang out.

And deep talk. All the talk!

A doctor put an IV in my husband at the hospital and they are really not very good at those things. Leave it to the nurses!

I think I was more disappointed than my kid was when we found out he wasn't in the same class as his closest friend from first grade and they don't even have recess together because I really like her family and I had hoped we could have become better friends before they got split up. They still ride the bus together and I am on texting terms with the mom but he's moved on from friendships pretty quickly in the past so we'll see.

Soccer is where I met most of my good mom friends. None of the kids play anymore and the girls are no longer friends but the relationships between the adults has continued. Loved sitting on the sidelines at practice and just talking. Miss those days!

My daughter was having her 13th birthday party tomorrow. It is kind of an island rite of passage. Taking the ferry to Fire Island with friends. I was going to go to pay for the ferry and lunch/ ice cream for 8 girls, but stay out of the way. It is supposed to rain tmrw. DD was pretty upset, but we came up with a quick plan B of hibachi lunch and manicures for her and her friends instead. I am bummed for her, but she is okay with the plan B.

The best advice I ever got was from a wedding guest whose work was flawless, and she said "never go below the eyes." So I'm tempted to have fuller lips and less haggard undereyes, but I'm sticking with her and keeping my botox to the upper third of my face.

Oh here’s one.
My kid is in class with a kid from her third grade class who was her bestie until she decided she wasn’t and totally ditched her. DD started the year with letting the past be past and assuming people grow and change between third and sixth.
Well, the girl has started to openly target my exceedingly sweet child.
For example, a whole lunchtime rant about how her pet peeve is “people who are too polite” citing things that she WATCHED my kid do and then denying it was about her.
Asking her why she farted in the middle of a silent classroom.
Making fun of her clothes (which by the way was cute AF as if that matters anyway) and laughing at her.
All while pretending to be her friend.
And I am not proud of the feelings I have felt toward a child.
I think my kiddo is navigating it well, but my rage. My rage.

I wanted to tell my kid she was acting like that because DD is prettier, smarter, and more well-liked than she is, but I resisted that temptation. We did talk about how nobody laughed at the fart thing, including the boys, and how that should tell DD that the class already has her number. Plus it means they think DD is a kind kid and didn’t want to hurt her feelings.

I was just talking to a friend the other day about this. I feel a little bad but I’ve entered the stage where some kids are just not great. When they were little I hated labeling and thinking of bad kids but it’s clearer now. Some kids are assholes. Lots of reasons why and many are not their fault. But it doesn’t mean I’m not going to judge and steer my kid away from the assholes and towards the kids I think will be good, supportive friends to him. And I expect him to be that way in return.

Oh man, I remember the nightmare of trying to bring my son to my DD's practices when he was 2-3 yrs, it was rough! 😂 I always called him "my runner". He had no chill or sense of safety. At 8 yrs old I can finally trust that he'll not just walk into the street without looking, which is great!

I think this kid has a lot happening, and I do actually think she is jealous of mine. But that doesn’t give her an excuse. DD is just using avoid and ignore and leaning into other groups, but I’m afraid it will come to a head in an ugly way.

Oh I will never give up my lip flip, I just need to find a new injector that I trust. Have you considered filler instead of (or in addition to) the flip? Tox/Dysport/Daxxy all go right through me, so I've pretty much given up my forehead being wrinkle free. But I have a syringe of filler in my lips and it lasts soooooo nicely and keeps your lips constantly hydrated.
