DS is home today! I'm at the grocery store then picking him up. We had a really nice 12 days but I'm ready to get back to normal. School starts Wednesday.
What's going on?

Hi! H had Covid this past week right after coming back from a work trip, so that’s fun. Seems like everyone around me has it. Fortunately none of the kids or I have had any symptoms. But H was sick as a dog for 48 hours. Glad he is better now. He took DD2 sailing. DD1 was picked up by a Girl Scout friend for breakfast and a planning meeting. I already did my workout and now I’m just hanging with DS watching Number Blocks.
I need to pick up the house a bit today. I already meal planned and have my shopping list for Trader Joe’s tomorrow. Softball season is starting and I need to get shit together for that. I am team parent for one if not both teams. And room parent for one if not both kids. DS is waitlisted for district preschool so hoping something opens up soon, but we are filling in with activities so it’s fine for now. I’m enjoying the downtime before all the chaos starts!

DD burned her hand on the stovetop on Wednesday and the pediatrician set us up with the burn clinic on Thursday. We have been very lucky thus far with the kids and most things being minor. The burn clinic said our appointment with them was them being extremely cautious, not that the burn was too bad. But with DDs special needs, it was nice to get extra tips and tricks from people who deal with it every day.
But now DD has to do everything with her left hand for a while, so that has been…fun.

I’m trying to get us organized for the second week of school for DS1. I’m making some lunchbox treats and restocking our grab and go breakfast options for him.
I’ve also got to meal plan for the week. He has 2 games this week (which is better than the usual 3) but he’s also performing at the fair this weekend. It’s gonna be busy so I’m trying to get ahead.

I spent a fortune at the store restocking basically everything. DS is back in the playroom playing fortnite and pounding snacks like he never left 🤣🤣
I have the next two days off so we're being lazy today. Food prep and laundry can be tomorrow

Kids are back to school tomorrow! Yay
I got out my fall decorations this weekend so my house makes me happy.
I'm doing laundry and getting prepped for the week ahead. The kids are outside swimming, my oldest has a friend over. Seems fitting for the last day of summer break!

DS and I were in his room organizing books (for the 5 seconds before he would disorganize them again), and he pointed up to his monitor and said “Joy is up there.” As in, Joy from Inside Out is up in headquarters. 🤣
He has also been randomly saying “the FOOT is DOWN” like Riley’s dad.

My niece is sleeping over. I feel bad. She desperately wants DD to sleep over. But DH and I are hesitant because of my SIL. She definitely has issues and can fly off the handle super easily. DD1 doesn’t want to sleep over there either-for multitude of reasons. But my SIL takes offense to EVERYTHING so trying to say no is definitely hard. Right now using the doctor excuse for the time being. Because once school is in session there will be less time for it too.

It was ridiculously hot today, so I decided that we were going to have an inside day and I worked with the kids to purge their rooms. I got rid of 10+ garbage bags of trash/donations! They go to their dad's for the next two nights and I'm hoping to tackle my own room in that time, ain't no way I'm bringing a man into it in its current state.

We spent a week at the lake with H’s family and it was really nice. We’re back home and I found a last minute camp for the big kid and my husband worked his magic and convinced him to go. It’s a gymnastics/tumbling camp and he has very few skills in that department and I hope he has fun.

Vacation was very fun but as always, I have my post trip illness. Not sure if it's just a cold or if I need to go to urgent care to see if it's a sinus infection. At home covid test was negative. The majority of the trip we were in the mountains and not around too many people so I'm hoping we avoided it. I decided to take a nap around 3pm yesterday and didn't wake up until 7 this morning, guess I needed some sleep.

I feel like I recently saw a picture of a famous person wearing these. Maybe Heidi Klum. I can’t remember. It looked ridiculous.

Of course now it finally is actually a few days away lol I’m sure Christmas will sneak up on me though.

My car has been out of commission for nearly a week and a half due to a shattered door window and supply chain issues for the replacement glass (I WFH and the 16YO has a car I can use when H is at work) is supposed to get fixed tomorrow. I cannot wait to have my own wheels back.
H and I celebrate our 19th anniversary this week but I keep forgetting about it. I can guarantee H has no clue that it’s this week.

Grandson turns 4 tomorrow! How'd that happen? New grandson will be a month old already. August seemed so slow though. Probably because the high Temps are stuck and nights are staying warmer too. The sun feels different even tho it's hitting the 105 to 110. My car said it was 117 today but it was just exaggerating

H just texted asking if I know when our professional photo shoot is.
He is the one that has been texting the lady 🤦🏻♀️.
I swear he’s not usually clueless, it has just been a long week.

Kid had fun at tumbling camp yesterday (and finally mastered the summersault!) but not enough to want to go back today. He had big plans to work on his workbook and do chores (weeding) while I work today and I've had to mute and turn off my video only minutes into my first meeting so it's going great. 🫠 🙃

And I was riding the bus this morning and got off at the last stop and began my 1/2 mile walk to work. It’s HOT here today, already something like 84 + humidity. The driver saw me walking after I got off and pulled over for me, saying she was on her way to the garage, and any time she’s driving, I can stay on until I need to get off. She was so nice.

Halloween decor goes up this week. Just bought two new pieces for my mantle and a new creepy house to add to my spooky village display. Yes, I am one of those.

Where is a good place to order Homecoming dresses? My DD is a freshman and says she is probably not going to the dance. But I know most freshman typically go with a group of friends and I can see her deciding that week she wants to go. So I’m thinking of ordering a few that can be returned. She is small; right at 5 ft. and not even a size 0. Trying to find her a dress for NJHS induction last year was a shitshow, so I’m trying to get started on this early.

She's a freshman, she should be able to manage this sort of thing now, or suffer the natural consequences of not planning ahead. I know it's hard to stop planning ahead for our high schoolers, but they really have to learn to do it. I have a sophomore, I get it.

She can’t drive herself to the store and buy a dress. Finding stuff she likes and actually fits her is a challenge, so we have to have enough time to order online. I don’t think having her pick out dresses and starting to think about it is enabling her.

Kid is moderately bored, which is the takeaway I need. He's been complaining of being bored and tired and decided to try and take a nap -- "if I fall asleep, don't wake me up until dinner. I will probably have more fun in my dreams." 😂

Amazon Jcpenny Lulus online I was going to suggest Lulus originally, but since the plan is to return most if not all if she decides not to go, they don't have a great return window and charge a restocking fee. So I'd stick with Amazon, there should be plenty of options there. Is homecoming short dresses or long dresses for your area? I'm 5' and had good luck with Amazon dresses (but not smaller than 0, but my 13 year old DD is and can wear most women's xs or xxs things we've ordered from there as long as it's not long dresses/skirts).
