I disagree that it's dismissive to say it's going to be hard because of racism. It's just realistic and we can hold space for both hyping up and acknowledging blockers.
What I'm hearing is "it's going to be hard because this is a racist country so we need to be ready to fight," not "it's going to be hard because this is a racist country and so we should give up/pick someone else."
Yes, the second would be dismissive and defeating, but I've not seen anyone say that.

Ok I’ll apologize if people felt I was dismissive by saying it’s not that easy I was not trying to do that You're not wrong and you have every right to your opinion. It's not going to be easy.

Like, I get some folks want to jump right into the energy and the enthusiasm and the let's do this. And that's great for those in that place.
It's ok that not everyone is there yet and may need more than one night to process and talk it out.

Yes I in fact have said several times that she has my vote and I’ll do everything I can to hype her up to everyone I know. I will make phone calls send postcards etc. I’m not downplaying people’s actions either. I’m not saying we haven’t been through it as a country and there may be more people ready to fight, but I’ve also seen the others who have had to fight harder for basic rights and are defeated and it’s going to take a lot of work to get them to be ready to fight again

I don’t blame anyone for being weary at whatever happened 2016. I know you guys don’t like hearing it but yt women have the worst track record. I read somewhere that yt women are going to vote for their whiteness or womanhood this election and that’s scary to think about but this is the chance to prove everyone wrong. Im no my going to coddle no yt woman nor myself here.

I never said it was dismissive to say it’ll be hard because racism, it feels dismissive TO ME to hear it’s not as easy as you think it’ll be. No one here thinks that. Wallow all you want but us white women have the bigger responsibility here. Be where you are, do what you will, if one person is allowed to express a perceived dismissiveness others are as well. I’m going on vacation now, see you on the campaign trail ✌🏻

I purposely said it will be hard because of racism.

I find it more annoying when I hear yt people say they are leaving to another country bc they can’t live in a trump presidency again. stop being wimp ass bitches and stay and fight for this one. Republicans are so corny. Dems are far more clever and intelligent - we might be able to do this if we stop being so afraid .

I’m not saying it’s going to be easy. Not at all. I was disagreeing with the statement that there’s no way a woman, much less a Black woman can win. I absolutely know how racist this country is. We can still do this. But I get that not everyone feels the same as me. I should just ditto jaygee and origami. I am not great at expressing myself sometimes.

I don't understand why disagreeing is the same as attempting to censor. I am confident everyone here will work their hardest, looking forward to celebrating in November.

She’s an 82 yo white Republican from Michigan. She vastly over estimates Kid Rock’s star power. As do most people from Michigan. Pretty sure Kid Rock is only even relevant to entrenched Midwestern Republicans. I mean, has that dude even had a song in the last decade?

Yeah I’m not wallowing I’m being a realist I can fight for the cause and still say I was let down by my fellow white women in 2016 and hell 2020 too even though Biden won and that I worry it will happen again. And I’ll never dismiss the fact that BIPOC people are not all in on her. And they have their very valid reasons. But in the end she is my pick because DT cannot win again. He just can’t.

I have an 18 year old brother and a 22 year old sister. They could not vote in 2016, along with their entire generation. We know this generation is different. They are not the generation that is voting a way just because their parents tell them to. They are the generation that was raised doing active shooter drills and DGAF who you marry. I think we can’t discount that we have had 8 years since 2016 and that’s been 8 years of the olds dying out and the youths becoming of age to vote. I don’t think it will be easy by any means, but I think it’s totally possible. Our priority should be energizing younger voters because we have a whole new voter pool this time around and a young(er) candidate. The fact that 2016 was 8 years ago is insane. It feels like it was just yesterday and 100 years ago at the same time. A family member is heading to Syracuse in the fall. She's sad she can't vote for Biden her first time being able to vote but excited for Kamala.

I couldn’t drink in 2016 because I was pregnant, which isn’t the case this time. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing. I can’t believe we’re having to endure a THIRD Trump presidential campaign in general. We’re being punished because he’s a loser.

You better take this apologize back. You’ve nothing to apologize for. Thank you for this If you knew me in real life, right now I’d say. “What? Shut the fuck up girl.” In the best way possible. You have NO reason to apologize. You have a very realistic view and worry about this country letting her win. You have hundreds of years of proof on your side and are living life with a DH and DD who have to deal with the racism of this country. Do we want her to win? YES. Do we think it could happen? YES. Do we know the mere fact that she is a BIPOC will mean plenty of people will NOT vote for her? YES. Saying these thoughts and worries out loud does not mean we are defeatists. It means we are realistic. And you are entitled to your feelings. Anyone making you feel otherwise should STFU.

I have an 18 and a 19 yo getting to vote for the first time. They were not jazzed to vote for Biden. Both - and their friends- are already so much more excited. Getting out the youth vote should be a huge priority. We know outside influences will flood misinformation campaigns too. I hope the Harris campaign is ALL OVER social media- especially TikTok. The world is a different place. We need to campaign like things have changed. My kid said to me yesterday, "This will be the last presidential election I can't vote in, and we need to work really hard to make sure it's not the actual LAST election"

Nearly all of my local races will be decided in the primary because it’s all Republicans. But man, they sure are slinging mud at each other. My township and the one next to us are having BRUTAL knock-down drag-out fights amongst the R’s

Praying that the name never appears again either! I did see that this is the 1st election in 48 years that doesn't have the name Bush, Clinton, or Biden appear on the ballot as a president or vice presidential candidate.
