rebeccabunch Still good, I haven't peeked. I wouldn't be surprised if H magically gets home early tonight. He's super excited to find out... my sister might also show up on my doorstep and open that paper. The people want to know. Include us in "the people".

We will finally find out the sex of the baby later today! The paper looks pink, at first glance I thought you were already telling us!

You all have been busy today!
Today was DDs first day back at daycare after summer break. It went as rough as I expected but hopefully each day back will be a little easier. She's the youngest in her class but I think this could be good in the long run for her speech and listening to the big kids talk.
Tonight we are going to the local county fair. I really want an elephant ear and I'm not sure I want to share!

rebeccabunch, probably 23ish weeks. DS is in a big boy bed now. He started climbing out of the crib, so i figured it was no harder, and if i didn't have to lift him, it would be a plus. Potty training you couldn't pay me enough to touch until after the baby comes.

Ugh, insomnia combined with my sore hips/pelvis and feeling like a polar bear trying to roll over, made for a not great night last night. I got up to read for a bit, then when I did go back to bed I fell asleep but a bathroom trip has had me up since about 430 now. I am with some of you on not feeling prepared for #2. It isn't like a newborn needs a lot of stuff, but I just feel behind anyway.
In a more positive light, we've had a good Monday so far despite the night. DS was a toddler monster yesterday, but has been delightful today! We went to a playgroup and then errands at the mall, so her got to play at the play area there too. Now hanging out at home in the AC.

My just over 2 year old still sleeps in a crib and isn't potty trained. "If it ain't broke" is how I'm living life right now. There's too much up in the air to even attempt either of those things. If I can get her PT by the time we go to Disney at the end of December, I'll be happy. As far as the big girl bed. Crib for lyfe. Our until she starts to climb out, which she's shown no interest in doing, so I'm not changing it. I'm just catching up but this post is me exactly. DD will be 22 months when this baby gets here. I'm not even trying to think about PTing for the sake of my sanity. We have two seats that she sits on for fun occasionally, but nothing serious. And she *loves* her crib so I spent the money for a new crib for baby because I didn't want to rock the boat. Both cribs are convertible though so it makes sense. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

We just got home and unpacked so we are currently suffering from vacation hangover. Dreading going back to work tomorrow but at least it's only a 4 day work week.
Also, I'm 31 weeks today. Seriously, when did this happen?! We were extra frugal on vacation so I'll be using that "extra" money to buy up a few more things I really need for this baby. We'll also be working hard to get the nursery finished asap.

Has anyone here dealt with diastasis recti? I'm beginning to think I've developed it judging by a few different symptoms. I'm going to talk to the midwife at my appointment Thursday but of course real life anecdotes help too.

thatgirlrachel I have not, but I feel like I read a thread on the General Discussion board, or old Parenting at some point about it and things people did to help.

Girl!
I'm not surprised, I always had the feeling it was. DH is talking about trying for a third to get a boy already 😂😬

Thanks for the support, ladies! It means a lot. I didn't mean to post and run earlier, it's just kind of how this day turned out. Then I spent 90 minutes after bedtime looking for my phone only to conclude that it had been left in the sleeping toddler's room, so that was...fun. Still shocked that I retrieved it without incident!
To be clear I'm beyond the point of trying for PT or even a toddler bed anytime soon unless it becomes necessary (DD has only ever attempted to climb out of her crib while I'm in the room, so I'm not concerned about safety yet), it's just that it feels like most of my May 15 friends are doing one or both of those things. I'm mostly team "if it ain't broke" as well, but there's a little part of me that wonders whether I should have tackled at least one transition before we're distracted with a newborn. Too late now! Deep down I know that both of these things will happen in time, I think I'm just generally panicking because I worry a lot about the "right" way/time to do things, if that makes any sense.

I was actually part of a scientific study on DR during my pregnancy/post partum time with DS. Here is the thread on it from General Discussion a while back: howeverithappened.proboards.com/thread/1913/diastasis-rectiAlso - August Blooms Congrats on team Pink!! Yay for little girls!!!

seventythree That's what I told him, I'm like can we revisit this conversation in a year? He's feeling the time crunch since he's in his 40's already.

seventythree I get the feeling about not doing things on the "correct" timeline. I had to come to terms with that early on in DD's life as a preemie. She was the first of 4 babies born in three days in another community I'm part of, but the other three babies were full term. It was a challenge to hear those babies doing XYZ and DD wasn't even close to those milestones yet. It's slightly different with the PT/bed transition timeline, but I write all that to say each kid and family are different and the milestone are going to happen at different times. Just because someone can PT their kid at 18 months doesn't mean every kid has to be PT'd at 18 months. Try not to stress. I know it will be challenging to make the transitions while also caring for a newborn, but just think, there are several of us here who will be doing the same thing! We can all commiserate. Lol

Taitai, Thanks so much! It sounds like there is only so much I can do to help during pregnancy and I'll just have to see where I'm at post-partum to determine recovery. I did order myself a maternity belt which I think will help some too. From your post, it sounds like this is much more common than people realize. I wonder if I had it after DD and didn't realize it because I didn't know it existed.

My opinion is that pretty much everyone gets it - unless you were like a professional yoga expert or something before pregnancy! I mean - think about how big our bumps get - the uterus has to go somewhere and it makes sense for the muscles to "unzip." I just think it resolves on its own for a lot of people, so it's been underestimated within the medical community. I know mine seemed pretty much back to normal right before I got pregnant with DS. As for things to do now - try to avoid "jack knifing" when you sit up from lying down (i.e. - roll to your side and use your hands to push/lift yourself up. Also, avoiding crunches and abdominal exercise is helpful.

I picked her up/carried her a ton on this past vacation and that's when I really start to notice it. I'm really surprised more practitioners don't take is seriously and try to inform their patients. Since it affects my recovery, I'm glad I know what it is and what I can do to help it.
