You might remember, my older sister has metastatic breast cancer that went to her spine. She's in pretty aggressive treatment, her targeted chemo is making her mostly bedridden.
so she's watched a LOT of TV I think she's got all the streaming things given to her by her friends for her treatment period. She's mentioned hbo, apple tv, and netflix specifically.
obscure is ok, she's watched soooo many different shows avoid cancer and death cause well that's heading for her fast as treatment isn't really working.
thanks!!!

Does she like British shows? Britbox or Acorn would open up a ton of great options, if she's ok with a little light murder.

First off, hugs to you and your sister. I have an older sister waging the same fight, f*ck cancer.
Here are some shows that I've enjoyed: Apple TV: Ted Lasso Apples Never Fall
Netflix: Derry Girls Never Have I Ever Kim's Convenience
Amazon Prime: Red Oaks
Ghosts (both US and UK versions)
And I find immense comfort in watching nostalgic shows like Three's Company, Golden Girls, MASH.

If she's never watched it before Veep was one of my all time favorites. I've actually been meaning to give it a re-watch.

I always recommend Suits. You have to suspend your thinking but it’s good. It’s on Netflix.
If she likes reality shows she could always do bravo shows or selling sunset and selling the oc. So much drama though
Schitt’s creek
I also love all the comedy’s: friends, modern family, abbot elementary, the goldbergs

For weirder stuff- Silo and Severance on Apple+ I think, and Watchmen on hbo
Avenue 5 also on hbo is funny. But it does get cancelled after 2 seasons which was annoying.
My H really likes Outer Range on Amazon. It’s interesting but I fell asleep so missed a lot. Righteous Gemstones if she’d be into a wilder comedy
Maybe Russian Doll? It’s been a while but I think I liked that one, but I haven’t watched the second season.

We've been rewatching Reba with my grandma. It's on both Netflix and Hulu. Would also suggest the Nanny for a silly comfort sitcom. I believe it's on HBO still.

We've been rewatching this with our boys (8,11,14) and it still totally holds up. Such a fun show. It's on Netflix in Germany.

I 2nd the above recommendation for BritBox or Acorn. So many murder mystery type shows. I’ve done the add a channel on Prime and then watch via the Amazon interface. On BritBox I’d start with Father Brown, Poirot, and Shakespeare & Hathaway. For Acorn I’d recommend Madam Blanc, Brokenwood, Agatha Raisin, My Life is Murder, and Mr. & Mrs. Murder.
Some ideas for the more common streaming services: Downtown Abby- Prime Arrested Development- Netflix The Middle- Peacock Life in Pieces- Hulu

I'm pretty sure the Roku channel has Midsomer Murders which is the best. I watch it on Acorn but that's $80/year.
Don't get me wrong, Acorn is great and I'm a huge fan of several shows. Midsomer, Brokenwood, My Life is Murder, Harry Wild, Madame Blanc. If your sister checks out the descriptions and thinks she'd like to try it, pm me. I can share my login.

OH! The early/Mary Berry seasons of Great British Bake Off is on Roku for free and the newer seasons are on Netflix. They are my ultimate comfort.

She's not buying anything as her meds are $9k a month 😭😱 Does she have a public library card? Some of those are available to stream for free with a library card via the free Hoopla or Kanopy apps (depending with services her library provides). Lots of obscure shows and movies to browse. Harry Wild that Eagles mentioned and other similar shows.

I love love love Downton Abbey. Some death but (mild spoiler) no cancer mention that I recall until the second movie. Correct me if I’m wrong, fellow fans.

I just finished Sweet Tooth and liked it. Great British Bake-off is like therapy. Veep is my all time favorite show ever. I watch all seasons at least once per year. Trying on Apple TV.

Let's see if it gives you any hints on what she likes. She says she's watched Killing Eve awhile ago. Enjoyed Fallout. Husband not a Star Wars fan, so I watch those by myself including new acolyte. Beacon 23. Sugar, Blood Origin, The Fall Guy and Beekeeper
Liked the bear and the tourist. Started only Murders in bldg (husband really likes) did the Night Manager eons ago. Trying the Night Agent, the Recruit, Reacher, Sweet Tooth, Special ops: Lioness
Done suits years ago Have to watch part 2 of Dune.
Waiting for Orphan Black Echo's to come out. Liked the Wheel of Time
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare was good, but it's a rental In plain sight was pretty good A Discovery of Witches was good.
Citadel, Bosch Legacy, Lessons in Chemistry Animal Kingdom
Finished Lincoln Lawyer Ted Lasso, Joe Picket
=> I have to compare this list To what youve suggested here to send her.
Or print it off and stick in the mail in next card I send. She likes to get stuff in mail.
Thanks for all your help

I second (third?) the suggestion of Poker Face on Peacock. One of the best new series I've watched in a while. Hacks (HBO) is also a wonderful show and a new season just came out. I also really loved School Spirits on Netflix. It does deal with ghosts of teens from different generations trapped at a high school where they each died, so I suppose run the premise by her first? But the twist in the last episode is great and season 2 is coming out this summer I believe. And I'll echo Eagles in her rec of Midsomer Murders. It does deal with murder obviously, but in that very polite (and sometimes silly or borderline ridiculous) British way.
