I know this isn't ethical but it will work... Buy the same dress in black. Return it online and say they sent you the wrong color. Send back the purple. I could see if you wore the purple dress but just missing the 30 day window justifies this for me.

Thanks everyone!! I think I was talked into not dying this gown, keeping it and hoping I have somewhere to wear it to, eventually. And going out and finding a different gown. While I wish I knew it was an all black black tie before buying this, it is what it is and I will most definitely NOT show up in anything other than all black. While I am sure there may be some people who don't abide by the dress code request, I really do think that, for the most part, people will abide by it. This wedding is more of an 'event' then a wedding really. I believe there are around 300 people attending. It is at a VERY fancy place and the family that is throwing the wedding is very known for being very elaborate in everything they do. No one invited expects anything less from them. So this makes total sense. The brides are just going with it for the most part. I am VERY excited for the wedding, and to be super dressed up, the night away, etc. I will circle back and show y'all what I end up with. Now I will take some store recommendations...Macys and Nordstroms. Also small boutiques. Anyone have any other recs on places to check out for gowns? I am in the Philly area, so if you also are in this area and have boutique recs let me know! How about renting? Or lulus www.lulus.com/categories/2106_8241/black-tie-wedding-guest-dresses.html?c=114&subsite=bridalYeah I will consider RTR for sure. Thanks for the Lulus link, they have some cute stuff!

Yeah I also thought about ordering the black and switching the tags....I just don't think I could do it.
30 day return policy is really not great, and I will keep that in mind with Macys in the future for sure.

Just leave the tags on. They sent the wrong color in the box. Oops

If there's an option still available in another color then I would for sure contact/go to the store to ask about exchange options. Good luck!

Alright, so I’ve purchased another dress! Now I need help accessorizing. What shoes would you wear? Jewelry? Purse/bag? How would you get your hair done? I have some general ideas, but would love others input too!

Love the dress! I would do long soft curls swept to the side. (The shoulder opposite the bow) Shoes, hot pink or emerald green come to mind. I have no idea why.

I love the dress and honestly minimal jewelry I think. Maybe just a bracelet or something because I love the neckline alone

Yes a bright color with the black While I do love the idea of a bright pop of color, it’s an all-black black-tie affair, so I’ll want to stick to black shoes. I feel like my shoes will be pretty hidden most of the time, so I might go more for utility than look. Meaning, a heel high enough to keep the dress the right length, but not stress too much about what it looks like and make sure it’s comfortable.

I love it! Since you want to respectful of the black tie theme I would add in jewel toned pops of color through accessories. I am usually not a beaded handbag kind of person but a fun peacock inspired one would pull in all the right colors and not scream for attention. a.co/d/2bCH8uyPeacock inspired earrings: a.co/d/9KcTHcXa.co/d/a8m8Kl4

I was thinking chunky heels too! I love these shoes! Putting them in my amazon cart to save for potential purchase!

I am totally leaning into the whole theme for this wedding. It very well may be the fanciest thing I attend in my life. So...why not lean all the way in and have fun with it!

The first dress is gorgeous and I’m glad you didn’t try to dye it. But that second dress is fire on you!
I’d do statement earrings and a chunky bracelet and cocktail ring.
Heels I’d go for comfort since you’re right, you basically won’t see them.
Hair I would do big curls but side swept to one side so the earrings show.
