Is anyone following this? I remember when it first happened and then forgot all about it. I watched a diagram that tried to sort out all the players but I'm still confused. What do y'all think? Did she kill him? Is she being framed?

I think Colin Albert did it. Maybe it was an accident, maybe he was drunk and a dumb fight escalated, I don’t know.
- He knew O’Keefe - they were neighbors. Maybe there was a history there. - He had a history of threatening people - He had an injury on his right hand/knuckles that really isn’t explained by the “fall” he allegedly had - scratches on O’Keefe’s arm are likely from the dog (Which they rehomed shortly after). Maybe she got in the mix when O’Keefe and Colin were fighting - I think family/friends (including police) are covering for him. Witnesses who can’t remember many details are all very specific the Colin left the house at 12:10 am.

Ok this makes more sense. I didn't realize she never went inside the party, i thought she left early. Also, the one cop went to the evidence room when he shouldn't have. I think the broke her tail light to frame her.
I figured this is a big story in that area. All those cop families involved seem dirty.

I’m so invested in this. The 13th Juror podcast has been covering it extensively.
I think Colin Albert (and maybe someone else) jumped or instigated a fight with O’Keefe. He was also attacked by the dog and fell or was pushed backwards and hit his head. This killed or nearly killed him and the people involved panicked, hid his body until most people left, then placed him outside in the snow to make it appear as a hit and run. When Karen showed up the next morning she was confused and possibly said, “Did I hit him?” and the McCabe/Alberts latched onto that as the narrative. I think they believed Karen would take a plea and they NEVER expected to be under the scrutiny they are now.
Nothing about the behavior of the people at the house during or after the incident makes sense. The changing stories, the deleting of calls and messages, the disposal of phones, re-homing the dog, the google search, the tail lights, the missing camera footage, etc.

My sister and college best friend both live in the town, and they say the social fallout has been crazy. Businesses owned by family members of those involved are getting boycotted, parents argue on the playground, life-long friendships exploding. Neither of them are in any friend groups involved, so it’s a spectator sport watching the drama. My BIL is in political PR, and some of his colleagues have been doing a lot of work with local law enforcement. It’s been interesting from that side as they try to navigate the massive social media presence of this case. When you learn more about the blogger who really popularized the idea that Read was being framed, he’s quite a character to say the least. Again, BIL isn’t directly involved, so he’s looking on as his coworkers handle the chaos.
Sister, BIL, and BFF are all team Read did it, at this point. They are so deep into the podcasts and articles and so on that I couldn’t even begin to tell you why 😂

I feel like there is so much obvious reasonable doubt that she should be found innocent.

The case is with the jury now, so hopefully we will have a verdict soon.
I don’t think we’ll ever know what really happened, but I don’t think the commonwealth proved their case and that there’s enough reasonable doubt that the jury should find her not guilty. But we’ll see.

My notes say there was a cover up and she was framed. I feel there should be enough reasonable doubt that they should not convict her.

This trial has been a rare overlap between what DH follows on twitter and what I see on the actual news so we’ve both been sharing footage and articles. We both feel this should never have gone to trial and is damning for the MA police.

From what I have seen, I believe there is more than enough reasonable doubt to keep her from being convicted. My guess is the jury is debating an acquittal vs just a hung jury. I do not see how they could possibly convict her.

The fbi is looking into this case and I can’t wait to see what they find. I'm eager to hear more about that too. Something about the crash reconstruction folks who testified for the defense are working with the feds? They referenced being hired by a "third party" in questioning/ testimony but couldn't outright say it was the FBI in front of the jury.

We both feel this should never have gone to trial and is damning for the MA police. Which is exactly why it should have gone to trial. None of this would have ever been uncovered if it weren't for her attorney and all his investigations.

The jurors just came to the judge and said they couldn’t reach a unanimous decision. The judge is making them continue to deliberate.
I can’t believe this isn’t an easy not guilty decision.

Does anyone know- is that typical before they will declare a hung jury or is this weird on the judge’s behalf?

I'm no expert but I don't think it's out of the ordinary to send them for more deliberation. I would love to be a fly on the wall in that jury room. I wonder what the split is.

My mind is boggled that this might be a hung jury.

I wonder if the state would try her again if they can’t reach a consensus.

I'm newly invested. I could kick myself for not paying it any mind sooner.
Hos long to die in cold .... come on!
I also read (in a FB group) that a retired officer may be on the jury?
It's giving big time corruption.

a few takeaways from my binge this weekend... why didn't Karen get on the stand? Colin is smug AF....he's hard to watch. Brian Albert is coming off guilty AF. Up to no good, for sure. Brian Higgins and Karen's texts were not that steamy....zzzz. I enjoyed him having to read through them, though

a few takeaways from my binge this weekend... why didn't Karen get on the stand? Because it opens her up to cross, it's rare for a defendant to take the stand and most defense attorneys won't let their clients do so

No one wants to start over, and sometimes the judge needs them to grow up and figure it out. They almost always send them back.

I think someone or someones refuse to believe that LE would lie or be involved and that’s the reason for the hung jury. Will be interesting to see what the FBI investigation reveals.
I don’t think the state will retry this case. It was too embarrassing for them.
