I wonder if setting it all up at home would make him believe more. And is that even a good thing, given his age? I’m 100% overthinking this 🤣 I think I’d just ask him— “Hey, we’ll be gone on Easter. Do you think the Easter bunny will come to the hotel or leave something for you at home while we’re gone?” That way the reality will match his expectations.* *please note that I am winging parenting 100% of the time Duh Ask him brux and see what he says Then do that

It’s a slight wink to reality but in a way that’s not totally overt.

I’m 100% overthinking this 🤣 It reminds me of an episode of This American Lite about a family where the parents tried way too hard to make the kids believe in Santa for way too long and it got a bit weird for the kids at school and the conversations around Santa with the parents were still weird as adults. I would opt for less magical and bring it to the hotel and the explanation that the Easter bunny brings stuff where the kids are straight forward enough for him to continue believing if he wants to.

Does setting it up in the hotel have to mean the bunny isn't real? Can't the bunny find you wherever you are? (or is it logistically too hard to hide the basket from him in the room?) This. If you want to keep it going just say the bunny brought it there. I've come up with all kinds of random explanations when DS has questions about the bunny/Santa/tooth fairy. Though we haven't had to be tooth fairy yet lol. But at his age I think whatever you want to do is fine.

And I'd probably set it up at home just to not have to bring stuff. That morning I'd just casually say oh the EB is bringing your stuff to our house so you can check it out when we get home.

I always do holidays wherever we are, even once buying a Christmas tree for our hotel room, ridiculous I know😂.So I would bring the basket and hide the eggs wherever we were. But I really think you can make either way work in a way that's respectful to DS but also to the fact that he's getting older. I also like the asking him idea and going from there.

I think maybe it’s smart to let the bunny begin the cascading domino effect. Only because our kids are the same age and my daughter cried for an entire day this year when she found out about Santa (after telling me we needed to talk because she was ready to know the truth). But we still pretend and it’s still fun. Except we quit with the tooth fairy because ain’t nobody got time for that. I just hand her the dollar.

We travel every year over Easter. Basket and egg hunt always waiting at home when we return.

Do you do any type of egg hunt? I’d probably bring a few eggs to hide in the hotel room just for fun and keep the basket for home.

The bunny hides eggs for the kids in the hotel room, just like at home. We don’t do baskets and never have. But perhaps the bunny could leave them their gifts and chocolate in the room without the basket.

I would set up the basket in the hotel with a note that it is from mom and dad because the Easter Bunny passes along the responsibility to the parents when kids reach a certain age.

The bunny finds you wherever but bunny also knows its hard to fly on an airplane with a large Easter basket. So he does something small at hotel and basket back home. And its just logic that Some years you can't do Easter egg hunt tho -rain snow illness.

Though this year's weather has been unsettlingly mild, so we could actually do eggs outdoors!

We have also found some great Easter Egg hunts on our travels, if you are open to a public one.

I would do it at home. I feel you and I are on the same or similar pages to these whimsical creatures and this is what we have done. Bunny didn't know where we were going to be type of thing. Plus then we didn't have to pack the stuff to and from. This is my vote.
