I started doing it through an online place just shy of a year ago. I pay $300/month for the meds. I have lost about 65 lbs. DH started about 10 months ago and is down about 60. It has been a game changer for me. I no longer constantly think about food. I am eating normal stuff, just less. I’m not obsessive about “is this ok to eat” like I was when I did weight watchers. Do you mind maybe posting or PMing who you use? There are so many places now and I don't know who is credible or not.

I'm on phentermine. I've had very minimal side effects, occasional constipation and some restlessness at night, which for me is taken care of by taking melatonin. The restlessness and constipation have eased off since the beginning.
I've lost 10 lbs in a month and I'm feeling amazing. No longer feeling an appetite 24/7 and just feeling hunger when it's time to eat has been life changing for me. I'm incredibly happy with it.
I'm able to be satisfied with like 1/3 of the amount I used to eat. I eat child sizes now comfortably.
Medication assisted weight loss was definitely the best answer for me.

Thank you for all the advice and information.
My doctor was great and totally on board with me trying it out. I have a physical and labs scheduled so that we can get a baseline, and I have a history of borderline blood sugar and gestational diabetes, which she thinks might help with insurance. I felt really confident talking to her about it, mostly thanks to you all and your experiences.

That’s awesome copperboom. I’m so glad it wasn’t the awkward convo or fight you thought it might be. Fingers crossed for smooth sailing through the insurance process!

I had my yearly physical and my weight came up and I was discussing my struggles, etc., my doctor brought up these meds as an option. Unfortunately when I called my insurance to see what the requirements were to qualify, they said that all drugs in this category are excluded from my plan, without asking me any questions like if I was diabetic whatever. I was surprised and didn't expect that.

There is an Oprah special on now regarding this topic. I missed the first 1/2 hour but I think it will be on Hulu tomorrow.

I believe I read that fda approved wegovy for use to reduce cardiovascular risk so Medicare will cover it. That means other insurances will start to think about following suit.

My dad is on Medicare and desperately needs help with his obesity. I hope if it’s approved and the prescription lists updated asap.

I need to resurrect this thread. I've been taking Wegovy since January(?) and have been taking the 2.4 dosage for several weeks. I'm down about 40 lbs, but my digestive system doesn't seem to be tolerating it very well. Doctor has advised that I could either go down a dosage or we could see if Zepbound is now covered. I'm going to try the latter as I *think* OptumRx has now added it to their formulary.
Anyone make the switch? Is it going to totally throw me out of sorts to start something new? Any additional advice for combatting nausea? I'm guessing I need to up protein intake, but it seems to hit me right away in the morning.

I switched from Wegovy to Zepbound briefly, but it was back in March when this thread was first started. I had been on the 2.4 of Wegovy for almost 2 years at that point and my weight loss stalled, and I had to start on the starter dose of Zepbound (2.5). I actually gained a few pounds in the 4 weeks I was on that dose. Went up to the next dose (5) and maintained, but then couldn't find the next highest dose (7.5). I was off meds entirely for about 2 weeks and gained a few more lbs before I convinced my Dr. to switch me back to Wegovy until the med shortage was over (and now my Dr. is leaving the practice but they haven't replaced her yet and the other drs. aren't taking on new patients, so I'm just seeing the NP to get refills, but she isn't able/willing to try switching me again. I'm STILL a few pounds up from where I was when I made the switch. I'm actually curious if all doses of Zepbound (it goes up to 12.5 I think) are currently readily available? For you having stomach issues, maybe a lower dose of Zepbound would be more effective yet gentle than the highest dose of Wegovy. I wasn't having any side effects from Wegovy when I switched though. I had an uptick in reflux when making the switch, but it quickly resolved (though I am medicated for reflux).

I’ve been on 1.7 of wegovy for about a year now, but I’ve never had major side effects on any dose.
The weird part of that I lost the majority of my weight on lower doses and the 1.7 for a year has been down about 3-5 pounds. I’m certainly eating more as well.
So tl;dr I don’t have any advice to offer, Bearfootz, but I hope you find a balance that has you feeling better.

I'm also realizing that I'm having an IBS flareup, which I'm thinking is a combination of a stomach bug last week and being stressed out. So, now I'm trying to figure out how to get my guts settled down. The internet tells me to reduce stress. Well, unless there's suddenly a cure for my sister's cancer, how the hell do I do that? Sorry, just need to vent. Trying to manage stress isn't my strong suit.
