Sourcing you guys, help!
I've always used Google family link to monitor DS1s phone and tablet (all android), but we switched phone plans and he is now using one of his dad's old iPhones, which doesn't support it obviously.
So what apps fo you guys use to monitor cross-operating-system devices?? I'm trying to keep it FREE and there are SO MANY.
Main features I need are location monitoring and then obviously content, so like I guess not letting him download from the appstore? And restricting websites? I'm completely apple-illerate too so I'm just having trouble all around.

We use Life 360 for location. That's the only one I know. But you're going to have to go into the phone to set up restrictions if you can't do it remotely. We don't use any other monitoring apps so I'm no help.

It does appear Apple has its own version of that if you happen to have a second old apple device laying around to set it up. Weird question but is there a reason he can't use his old devices on the new plan?

I have DS1 set up as part of my family on his iPhone. So I can set limits to everything. He can’t add any contacts/ add or remove apps without my phone getting a request that I then approve. I can track his location through it as well.

Yea his ios is....I'd have to look, not 11. Maybe I need to dig to see if I can do an update or something first.

Weird question but is there a reason he can't use his old devices on the new plan? His old phone was a prepaid plan phone and APPARENTLY it's not able to support another network Sim. I've been fighting with everyone on this and have.....lost. so stupid.

Cross platform things don’t work well because IOS doesn’t play well with others. Bark (circa 2020) was essentially useless for us for that reason. You can set up screen time on his iPhone, you will just need to have the device to make any changes/approve more time if he wants it. To get to it: Settings-screen time. For location H (android) and I share our locations on google maps but I find it’s not always immediately accurate (fine obviously for H sometimes I just want a general idea if he’s on his way home from work or whatever but I definitely want more detailed information for a kid) and we have Life360 now that DS16 is driving. Eta: if parental controls are essential is it possible to get a cheap android phone for him? Either through the carrier or a resale situation?

Ok thanks guys!!! I'm running an update on his phone now, didn't occur to me to check, silly for assuming his dad would've done it!! 🤪🤦♀️
Got all his settings set though and will see how family link works once his ios is updated. Might try life360 then too.
But this was all helpful. This stuff is so overwhelming to me and I hate that.

I had Qustodio on top of Family Link for my android kids and that worked well for an extra layer of protection but in the end it was a hassle to use 2 apps so now I just use Family Link - we all use android.
