I've read 4 books I think since my last check-in. When Stars Collide (Chicago Stars, #9) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, 3.5 stars rounded down to 3 Simply the Best (Chicago Stars, #10) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips, 3.5 stars rounded down to 3 These two were from an author I always read with my aunt. She passed away a couple of years ago so it felt nostalgic reading them again. The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood, 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. This was cute and a quick read. I think I finished it in a day. I'll probably read more of hers The Mystery Writer by Sulari Gentill, 4 stars. I loved this one. At first, I was not sure I was going to be a fan, but then I got into it. There were parts where it dragged and I felt like they couldn't spent more time than they did on the last few chapters, but overall the story was really good. I think I liked it more than the Woman in the Library. Ooh, I have an ARC of The Mystery Writer on my shelf too. Might need to move it up the TBR list.

If anyone feels like/is able to support a Native American Romance author, this book looks good!

I just finished A flicker in the dark. It was mostly ok. I’ll give it 3.5 stars I didnt want to say before you finished but I agree it was OK. Did not live up to the hype

I've won a couple from the Goodreads Giveaways. Otherwise, our local bookshop has a shelf of them to choose from with a $50 purchase. Hit or miss if it will be anything of interest.

I'm not a tiktok famous book reviewer that gets shipments from the publishers or anything. I mean, I've thought about it, but really don't need all the internet trolls telling me why my opinion of a book is wrong.

I finished The Villa and enjoyed it. 4.5 stars. I just (finally) started the second Will Trent book. I think I will go back and read the Grant County books before reading the 3rd Will Trent because that is where they merge? emma is that correct? I am flying through this one way more than the first. I forgot how much I like investigative thrillers.

Since I finished The Inheritance Game, I had to pick a new pick. I decided in The Invisible Life of Addie Larue. I have heard good things and I managed together find a hardcover of it for $1. 😂

Like basic how to? For ebooks, through netgalley. The more you fluff up your profile and actually write reviews about the books you do receive, the better chance you have of being approved of more. It can be easy to request a million because it seems to fun but then if you aren’t going to actually read them and review them, your percentage drops and they are less likely to pick you.

You don’t miss much i don’t think, the Will Trent series takes place after Grant County and you get a full Sarah history through the books

I've thought about making a booktok but I definitely couldn't handle the haters and trolls, lol.

Yes, I only get ebooks through Netgalley. All I have is goodreads that I post reviews on and I am still able to get a lot of ARCs. Except for Berkley, they are really picky. Its definitely easy to request way too many and then end up behind like I am. They say ideally you should have an 80% rate of posting reviews. I'm at like 71% right now. I have probably 20-25 ARCs I need to read.

I read Reel by Kennedy Ryan and absolutely loved it. I did the audiobook and it was very well done. 5 stars! I really enjoy everything she writes.
I also just finished Nightwatching by Tracy Sierra. I was expecting basically a "Panic Room" type of thriller but this was so much more. I don't recommend the audiobook for this one, I tried and the narrator's voice bugged me. 4.5 stars!
Now I've got both Bride by Ali Hazelwood and First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston. I just started First Lie Wins and I'm curious how it will go. It's been so hyped up but I've also seen a lot of reviews that it didn't live up to the hype.

I did Netgalley for a couple months. I wanted to be a part of the fun and get to read a book before it was published. It didn’t take long before I realized it wasn’t for me because I’m not a person that likes to write reviews for most books. Also, there are just so many books out there, it doesn’t matter to me that I read a book first. I actually find it more fun to read a book around the same time as most people, so within those first few months after its release. That’s when I feel like most people I know (like in here, real life friends, or other book communities) are also reading it and talking about it. Plus, for ebook ARCs, I’m a library person, so owning an ebook means absolutely nothing to me, I’m 99% sure I’ll never read it again because I don’t reread books, and it doesn’t even come with the perk of getting to look at its pretty spine on my bookshelf.

I finished listening to my first audiobook, "Thank you for Listening". I gave it 3 stars, I liked it. I started listening to "Do No Disturb" but not sure I'll get through it before it comes due. 3 stars! You're killing me lol. Julian Whelan is the queen. I think that was one of my highest rated books of 2023. She is one of my absolute faves too!

I’m so disappointed/disgusted. I just finished my book that someone picked for our book club. It was a YA book called The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. It was written from the perspective of a 14 year old boy and I really enjoyed it. It was sad, but there were also some funny parts along the way. It was based off the authors real life. There was a lengthy note at the back where the author talks about how yes, the best friend in the story does exist in real life, but he recently passed away. He basically wrote his eulogy to his real life friend in the book.
Anyway I went to update my Goodreads and scrolled the the reviews and that’s when I saw someone say about the sexual abuse allegations that were brought up against the author back in 2018. I Google and sure enough, it’s all over the internet. So disappointing.

I finished The Women and pretty much bawled through the final chapter. I would still give the slight edge to The Nightingale but this one was very close.

I had no idea about the SA allegations.

I got home from vacation last night and finished the last two books from ACOTAR during my trip. I gave A Court of Frost and Starlight 3 stars and A Court of Silver Flames 4 stars.
I’m in a real fantasy kick right now so about to start The Fifth Season.

I've got 2 books going right now,Shadows so cruel, and you deserve eachother. But I paused today to listen to the 50 part tiktok story going around. I'm on part 35/50. I looked to see if it was being talked about here, but didn't see a post. Its called who tf did i marry. The ladies name is ReesaTeesa. And let me just say... this is a real life thriller. I'm making myself go to bed instead of listening to the last 15 parts. Someone in a booktok group I'm in, said we should be able to mark it complete on goodreads because it's like finishing a book. Lol please tell me someone else is following this Someone added it to Goodreads 😂 I tried but my attention span couldn't handle it, even at 2x speed. I made it maybe 5 parts.
