fancynewbeesly, Oh no! I hope that she is feeling better soon. Do you guys have a protocol to follow for this type of situation? Not sure. I have a call in to her doctors. DH and DD1 packed bags and they are staying at my parents for a few days. I will be lysoling and taking care of DD2.

I hope no one else especially DD1 gets it and she's feeling better soon.

DS is home sick today and I'm working remotely. I've been at this job 7 months and I'm still not used to having this kind of flexibility and I feel like I'm doing something wrong!
He's still in bed so I'm not sure what we're dealing with but it was sore throat and headache all night.

I don't think it's ever going to stop raining daily here.

Oh my gosh the raiiiin. We haven't seen the sun in weeks, it feels like
It looks like things might actually dry out a little this week which would be so nice. I am hoping for a good hike or at least an outdoor activity this weekend.

My kid tested positive for Flu A, Flu B, and strep all in a week. So that has been really fun.

We might actually see the sun today. Supposedly. But then it's going to rain again tomorrow. It's just muddy AF here.

To continue the never-a-full-week-of-school trend, we started the week off with a delayed start.

Oh no pobre . Poor kid. How's he doing? His fever is finally gone. He had a fever for 8 days in a row. I had no idea he had strep - no sore throat - so I think that was what was keeping him really sick. Since getting abx he is much better.

I'm so sorry he's been so sick -- I always say the one silver lining to strep is that abx usually knock it out pretty quickly. I hope he's turned that corner for good.

DS2 has had a tough couple of mental health days and ended up not going to school today. I know that we're supposed to treat anxiety by helping our kids face the things that make them anxious, but I can't bring myself to force a panicking, frantically crying 9 year old to go to school when he says it makes him want to die. This year has been going pretty smoothly up until now so I'm a bit taken aback by the strong feelings he's having now, and it makes me think something is going on that he hasn't been able to articulate yet. I hope a day at home doing chores and no screens will give him the introspective time to be able to talk about with us.
(We are working with his teacher and the school counselor and his therapist.)

I haven't been drinking (yet) today so I'm not sure why I thought attempting to disassemble and move an L shaped couch to my basement during my lunch break would be a good idea.

Does every January feel as long as this one and I've just blocked it out, or are we all stuck in some awful Groundhog Day situation? It's been January for at least 3 months, right?!?

CurlieWhirlie huge hugs. DS had a major meltdown/panicking this morning too. Apparently he’s stressed over a STEM project he’s behind on, it’s the first time he’s expressed this issue/these feelings. We did take him (a few min late) and his teacher emailed me right back about it saying she would talk with him too. so I’m hoping he didn’t continue to have a super rough day. (Not saying our way of dealing would have been good for your kiddo, just commiserating about the rough Monday) 💕💕

I hope he gets the support he needs from his teacher so he can get caught up. After having a calm morning, my son was able to tell me that a few boys in his class have been making comments about him being slow or needing more help, and it's getting to him. Understandable. He gave me some examples of comments and they are really mean, but in that casually cruel way 10 year olds can be without realizing how damaging their comments are. The teacher has no idea, so we'll start with sharing with her, but he's petrified of being even more singled out. Ugh.

I got my cousins baby shower invite and link to her registry in the mail today and I know I shouldn’t judge because each person has a right to do what they want but I’m side eyeing her must haves and the price tags.

CurlieWhirlie 💔💔💔 DS came home smiling thank goodness. He said his stem teacher was “stern” but he got caught up. Apparently this was also a group project which was adding to his panic. I just want to hug these kiddos and keep them safe and surrounded by love forever.

Tomorrow one kid has late start and the other has early release. I only get 2.5 childless hours tomorrow. Good thing I only have a couple meetings. I’m really wondering if there is actually school In January anymore.
