I got the Skinnytaste simple one for Christmas and it made me realize that while I am always searching Pinterest I miss the good old fashion book.
What are your favorites?

Food Lab is always a go to in our house, very detailed and sciencey.
Bravetart is my go to for baking.
How to Cook Everything is a really good one for basics. I use it mostly as a jumping off point for recipes.

I religiously use all of Lillie Eats and Tells books. I am making my way through her newest. They are a little pricey, but she often has sales, and I Iike that you can get book + digital download.

I love to take cookbooks home from the library and read through them. I actually started photocopying recipes and keeping a binder because I rarely make everything from one book. I love sitting down with them and paging through though.

Also, while I really appreciate big tomes like the American Test Kitchen ones, I find that I don't reach for them bc they're heavy and dense. I like smaller volumes during the week, bc it's easier to have a few in front of me and meal plan from them.

I started collecting cookbooks this summer and it’s bringing me so much joy. I usually pick one for the week and meal plan out of just that one. I’ve been getting them from the library first though.
My favourite so far has been Recipe Tin Eats. I made her Swedish meatballs last night and they are so good. Her tips are really good too in the book and I’m simple, I like the pretty pictures.

I love cookbooks but just last year I got rid of so many that I just really never used. Some of my favs that I kept were,
Getaway by Renee Erickson Ottolenghi Simple by Yotam Ottolenghi The Family Meal, Home Cooking with Ferran Adrià Drink What You Want by John deBary And I just recently got Sundays a cookbook by Sophie Godwin and I've been enjoying that quite a bit.
I prefer to get cookbooks that feature meals and foods that I might not normally cook or that are just pretty and fun.

I think Meal Prep and Fast and Slow are my favorite Skinnytaste cookbooks. I love The Pepper Thai cookbook, I struggled for a long time to find recipes for tasty and authentic Thai food. My 9 year old decided a little over a month ago to become a vegetarian so I am always looking for vegetarian cookbooks if anyone has one they love! sweptaway I added the one you linked to my Amazon cart already, thanks for the recommendation.

I have quite a few, but these are the most used.
The perfect recipe for losing weight and eating great. I love the simple sauces in this book, and I make the muffins weekly.
The food you crave by Ellie Krieger. Thai beef salad and teriyaki chicken are two that get requested frequently.
Weber’s real grilling. Lots of rubs and marinade recipes and recipes sorted by protein.
Salt fat acid heat. I love this book. Everything I’ve made has turned out great.

I also have a binder of printed recipes. I just organized it the other day because it had become a folder of loose papers. I reach for my skinny taste cookbooks the most and use her meal plans for inspirations (on the website) I like the suggestion of looking for them at the thrift store STP.

America’s Test Kitchen is our favorite. The show was great too before Christopher Kimball left. I bet the Milk Street ones are good too.

We have several of the Milk Street Cookbooks and they are insanely good. My husband loves the science behind their recipes and the work that’s gone into refining them. Everything we’ve made from them has been spectacular.

I rarely use my cookbooks so I've been rehoming them. Like a whole cookbook for a couple of recipes Is a waste of shelf space.
A few I won't part with and use I reach for the old as dirt Betty crocker cookbook. Pages falling out. Mostly for a few cakes, side dishes, banana bread and meatloaf.
I also reach for very old Joy of cooking for all sorts of things. And I have an old sunset Mexican food which I reach for to do Chile rellenos and rice. An old magazine from an extinct grocery store with Mexican recipes and I do the tamale meat prep from there.
Most other things I get from pinterest. Or links from here.
I also have tons of well worn 3x5 recipe cards. So I wrote out a lot of those plus pinterest snd random print page recipes on a spiral notebook of 3x5 cards for youngest son when he moved to Washington for grad school.
My goal is to write out the same for oldest son. And do it for myself too and get a handle in the drawer full if random recipe prints dh does all the time. I won't toss ex5 card recipes written by my mom and grabdmothers but the rest of the family can't read their script.

I put the recipe and pics of him making it in a photo book and I keep adding to it as we go. It’s gonna be long once it’s done but it’s been a fun process. I made one with my grandmas recipes and it’s been one of my favorite go tos.

I love:
- All three of Chrissy Teigen's cookbooks, everything I've made is delicious. - The Magnolia Table cookbooks for the blend of easy/comfort recipes - Salt, Fat Acid, Heat
Cookbooks I love because of how gorgeous/engaging/transporting they are, even if I probably won't cook much from them: - Getaway Renee Ericson - Mi Cocina by Rick Martinez -Turkey & The Wolf: Flavor Trippin' through New Orleans by Mason Hereford -Any of Ottolenghi cookbooks
