Has anyone else read about Gerry and the woman he dated for a while starting about a month after his wife passed and then left her because she gained 10 pounds 😳 Yes and none of it surprised me unfortunately. I have a feeling ABC got publishers to hold that info until right before the finale to drum up buzz Leslie was too good for him and I hope she gets some therapy and to be the Golden Bachorette. I have a feeling ABC gave her the woe is me edit so things would look better for Theresa. Theresa has pick me girl energy Yes even dd called her a pick me girl

I don't believe the part about him leaving her because she gained weight, honestly. His previous wife wasn't super thin, & neither are his daughters; I just feel like that would be a weird message to send. I was surprised to hear he had dated so soon after his wife though, if that's true.

So it got spoiled for me before I watched it too & I was really upset, because I really wanted him to choose Leslie. But then as I was watching the episode I actually started to see why him & Theresa work, & then it was hard to be as mad. I felt like Theresa is a bit more "stable" overall, she's had the long term relationship before, she knows how to nurture that. When she said I want you to be happy & I don't want you to pick me unless you're totally sure, I thought that was really mature. Her personality is more understated I feel, but the stability & emotional maturity is there.
With Leslie I truly loved her vibe/energy, & their chemistry the whole show. But it's true she had had relational troubles & a bit more to work through emotionally. I think that made the breakup worse too, I was absolutely devastated for her. When she said she wasn't chosen again, oh man, my heart. And I stand by what I said before too, that all the things he said implying he was choosing her made it so much more painful than it needed to be. I wish he would've held back a bit. I genuinely think he was planning to choose Leslie, up until his overnight with Theresa, & he more or less said that too. I was thinking how painful it would be to think 24 hours could make such a huge difference.
So basically in the end I was devastated for Leslie, but I also started to see why him & Theresa work, & why they might be a better match, even though the thought of that annoyed me at first.

That Hollywood Reporter article was rough. I get that he doesn't have to disclose his entire romantic history on the show, but there's a big jump from "I haven't kissed anyone in six years!" to actually he dated one month after his wife passed and he lived with the woman. And she was 14 years younger than him.

lifesaverz, agree! I was all team Leslie but do see why Theresa is probably better suited to him in the long run. I wish they would cast within a certain radius so it wouldn't be as much a big deal with regards to someone having to move. Regular Bachelor, fine whatever they are young and don't have kids yet, but if they do more season of Golden where people have kids and grandkids, it would be smart to match people within a few hours drive.
