Pics of 95 collapse are wild. It will be closed for months/up to a year and I can’t even fathom what that is going to do to traffic in that corridor.

Doesn’t inspire much confidence in our infrastructure 😬😬 If it was a gasoline tank, that was an exceptionally hot fire- possibly up to 2000F. There are not many materials that can withstand that kind of heat without a change in material properties, specifically strength here. The ones that can are typically ceramics, which you can’t build a bridge out of. I would say it happened in a very unlucky spot, more so than an infrastructure failure, in this case.

I kept thinking about the earthquake and the bridge collapsing but I knew it was more related.
