I just posted this on my Jan board but I'm having trouble getting a good night of sleep. I know this isn't unique to me as a pregnant person but it seems to a swirl of preg issues (peeing, dreams, etc) and anxiety.
ive had a lot of heart racing issues but not in typical stressful situations like a large presentation or public kid meltdown more like when I lay down for bed. My thyroid was checked and is fine. My PCP told me to think about meds but I thought I was pg at the time w my O17 baby and I figured I'd just chill out. I've been a high performing super type A my whole life but just recently my sleep is affected.
Anyone relate and hv worked through a successful solution? 😴😴😴😴😴

Time for bed for me! Our Thursday was good - things have been running smoothly, despite DH being across the Pacific for the past few days. That said, DS and I will be so happy to have him back home next week.
I got a lot of paperwork type stuff done today that I have been putting off, which also feels good. I did have to do more walking than usual though, so my hips are killing me. Going to put my feet up and not do much of anything tomorrow! Also, tomorrow is a local holiday - so 3 day weekend here I come!

rebeccabunch, I don't remember 😢 Sleep has been elusive for a lot of this pregnancy at least for me. I think I got a period of relief in 2nd tri. You're coming to 2nd tri yes? Maybe try warm milk before bedtime, I think it has sleep inducing properties I read somewhere which I fished out of my head. Camomile tea? I do not think you're able to take melatonin during pregnancy. Also with heart palps, I believe this is common due to your heart having to pump more blood during pregnancy. I have that too.

Babies love glucose. That is all.
Also, damn the glucose drink for giving me heartburn at 9 am. That's just rude.

Taitai, Do you have extra help while DH is away? ThInking of you and a little worried 😛 Take it easy mama! Hubs had a work trip this week but decided to cancel it a month ago when I had to go for my surgery and we had a stint at L&D right after.

Working all afternoon at school registration. I love seeing former students and families. It's also an easy way to help out at school without having to be on my feet.
DDs daycare is having their back to school open house tonight too so we'll swing by that as well. We've never actually gone before as I thought they were kind of pointless when she was in the nursery and little toddlers class. But she's going into the 2/3s room in August so I feel we should probably go now.

Thanks Dusky! I'll be 14 weeks Monday (where did the time go?) and I'm doing a Trader Joe's run today and will totally stick up on tea. Such a good suggestion.

Speaking of Trader Joe's, anyone's grocery life revolve around Trader Joe's as much as mine?
We have one 2 mins from my house and I'd say I'm 80% TJs/15% Target/5% Whole Foods.

Unfortunately nothing close by at all. I was seriously all over it when they opened the first one in this state! Only a few yrs ago. Unfortunately not close by at all! We're talking 45 mins away but was ok since I was working 10 mins from it and then got a contract gig in the same city but all that's not happening now, too far to go so I'm all sads about it 😢 ETA. WFs I only go there for certain items like I've been sending hubs there to check for figs! Which he's not thrilled about. Nothing yet 😡 So far.

The inside baby has declared war on my cervix. I'm so tired of lightening crotch. In the words that describe pregnancy best.

I'm happy we're moving closer to a Trader Joe's. I've only been in one once, but am looking forward to a different variety of store.
I'm at the house because we have a slew of service people coming by today for various things. H just got home because he called it an early day and he's working on sonething in the basement.

So H and I bought a new mattress set on Monday and it'll be delivered Sunday. We're upgrading to a King because DD keeps kicking him out of bed when she comes to sleep with us... and we hate our sleep number. He decided to make the bed to take pictures to sell it today (natural light, and then he closed the blinds and turned out bedside lamps on for another pic) and I told him that people don't really care what we have on the bed and it would be better to just show the frame and a close up of what the wood looks like. He gets all pissy at me because I'm being argumentative.... and pissy the mood is lasting so far today. Am I wrong that people would want to see how we have the bed made up and not just what the frame looks like?

rebeccabunch Sounds a bit like anxiety to me. It can mimic other things.! Bedtime is when I have time to relax and my mind can go crazy. Try tea and a relaxing bedtime routine with some sort of meditation/relaxation.

Back to work today, feeling better but I still sound congested. It sounds like DD got my cold but other than a stuffy nose she seems ok. This baby is kicking like crazy today. It's slightly uncomfortable.

DD and I went to the optometrist today! She was a little rockstar, chatting it up with the dr and thankfully her vision is a-ok. I wear glasses and DH did up until he had eye surgery 4 yrs ago. His eyes were so so terrible so I was really hoping she didn't need glasses (yet anyhow)

Today is my Friday. We're heading up to the mountains tonight, to where my in-laws moved earlier this month, for the weekend. I'm really not looking forward to the trip. I hate that because we're doing things I normally enjoy, but I just really hate my in-laws. And there will be no escaping them.
DH even offered to go with DS and let me stay here and relax, but I just don't trust them. They're the type who are all "it's a grandparent's right to spoil", but they're teaching him bad habits and turning their other grands into brats. Ugh.

DS and I went on a spontaneous trip to visit my mom and grandma Tuesday. We stayed overnight, then came back yesterday just in time for me to go to work. So far today we visited H's grandpa in the hospital (just had a angiogram, nothing major), then got some groceries at Aldi. DS should be awake from his nap any minute now, and I'm slightly regretting not taking one myself. I think I just need to start heading to bed a little earlier though, lol.

Late to this rebeccabunch but Natural Calm is a magnesium supplement that can naturally aid in sleep. Magnesium in tablet form can too, which is what I take.

rebeccabunch, I'm late, but I've dealt with anxiety and sleep issues, both while pregnant and not pregnant. It sucks. It's all about finding what works for you. I would try to have a bedtime routine and eliminate screens for 30 minutes to an hour before bed. During that time, try deep breathing or meditation or writing in a journal. Sometimes a guided mediation is really helpful. Incorporating exercise into your daily routine might help, as will watching your diet (drinking enough water, reducing caffeine intake, eating balanced meals/less processed stuff, etc.). If none of those things work, I would talk to your doctor and a therapist. Hope you feel better and can get some rest! Re:Trader Joe's- I love it, but the parking lot is a cluster cuss so I don't go as often as I'd like. Today I went to a maternity leave workshop hosted by HR. They did an awesome job and it was super helpful.

rebeccabunch I've been dealing with a bunch of anxiety issues this pregnancy that didn't really plague me last time. I can't decide if it's my anxiety or just pregnacy insomnia that's affecting my sleep but I'm going to bring it up at my appt on Tues. so basically, I have no helpful words of advice. Just ((hugs)) cause I get it too.

Just got done with DDs "open house" for daycare this coming year. They are going to move her to a 2/3s room for potty trained kids. I have a lot of feels about this. DD doesn't transition well and she's skipping a whole classroom of 2s because she's potty trained. This room is much more preschool-like structured and I guess I'm having a hard time picturing my kid with a day that is much more structured. I think it could just be pregnancy hormones and not wanting my baby to grow up either...

I can't remember if I asked this here already, but are pedi interviews really something people do?
Or is it one of those things the internet says we should do, but no one actually does?

duskymonkey We are really fortunate that our nanny has agreed to basically become DH while he is away. She is amazing and has been doing a great job of helping with the heavy lifting toddler stuff that I can't do - like bath time, lifting into the car seat to go to/from school, taking DS to the playground, lifting him in/out of his high chair, lifting him on to the potty, etc. She also has been cooking a bit, which is a huge help. I think she's happy about the situation - she's making mad overtime 😁😁. I know she is going on a shopping spree after DH gets back...I can just sense it! Thanks for thinking of me - you are too kind! rebeccabunch When we were in the states, I loooooved TJs...it was always my first stop for groceries, followed by Whole Foods or Fresh Market. cythe We did pedi interviews - both for our pedi out here and for the one we have in the USA. It was really helpful to get a feel for their style/philosophy. I'm glad we did it - you will be seeing the pediatrician a LOT and it's important that you like him/her and agree with their approach.

cythe, there was a pedi office here that was super highly rated and recommended but from what I could tell they weren't taking new patients, so I looked around for others. Did one pedi interview during that process. Then I found out that the pedi I originally wanted DOES take new patients but only if they are newborn. So I went with them and didn't interview in advance. I did call and ask how to register with them, and they were pretty much like "just put our practice down as your requested pedi at the hospital when you deliver, and our pedi on call at the hospital will see you." Much more informal than I was expecting.

cythe, i didn't. We didn't have a pedi picked out, but loved the one we got at the hospital. This time around we only have one because DS had his 2 year check up last week and i liked the one he saw okay.

cythe A good friend of mine loved her pedi so that's how we ended up with ours! When I called their office they set up a phone interview automatically and had him call me back right away and we chatted for awhile and I loved him ! I actually called another place before that and they were wicked rude and made me feel stupid because I asked for an interview so obviously I didn't go with them! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
