They wouldn't arrest him I don't think. Wouldn't they ask that he appear voluntarily first? Michael Cohen wasn't arrested I read somewhere we won't see a handcuffed perp walk or anything and he'll always have Secret Service around. It sounded more like he would technically be held in Secret Service custody. I just can't imagine he's going in willingly, although he surprised us leaving the White House

They wouldn't arrest him I don't think. Wouldn't they ask that he appear voluntarily first? Michael Cohen wasn't arrested I read he was going to surrender, but expected "protests". It was the headline that made me breathe into a paper bag. I'll see if I can find it. It might have been from @underthedesknews on IG cause that's how this got on my radar.

So I’m driving six hours Tuesday with my kid. I’m gonna need someone to text me if that all goes down.

They have no sense of their hypocrisy at all. WE all know who's really been weaponizing the federal government for decades.

If anyone needs a feel good, pick me up, Mark Rober did a video about drones that I found fascinating and made me feel so happy for the development in technology to serve underdeveloped communities. If you don't care about personal drone delivery, skip the first two minutes. The whole middle of the video is about a company that uses drones to deliver medical supplies to remote hospitals in Rwanda and it's super cool.

Gov Walz is a good egg. He was a public school teacher before he was a politician and I love that it means he gives a shit about our kids.

Gov Walz is a good egg. He was a public school teacher before he was a politician and I love that it means he gives a shit about our kids. I’m so happy with the school lunch bill passing. I often have kids who come to my health office with a stomach ache because they didn’t eat breakfast. I can’t walk them down to get breakfast because I have no idea who can and can’t afford it. I have a box of graham crackers, but that’s it. So I’m really hopeful this helps those kiddos. I’m also appalled at the poor state of the state teacher’s pension. Coming from my nursing pension, I thought oh, 17 years in my nursing pension, I’ll do 15ish years into my teaching pension and that should be a great retirement. Nope. The minimum retirement age is 66 with steep penalties for retiring early. We are 46th in the nation for teachers pension 😬. There are bills for positive reform in legislature now, so hopefully Walz will come through there, too. We’ll never be able to recruit and retain teachers without a strong pension.

You guys. I just can't. If this is what happened. Omg. I came here to post that. It sounds highly plausible to me. I just last week listened to the recent Fresh Air episode with excerpts from Terry’s interviews with Jimmy Carter, so this topic was already on my mind. It’s a really good listen, if you’re like me, and never learned anything post 1975-ish in history in school. Maybe the history books hadn’t been updated yet. It seems like they would’ve been incomplete anyway, based on this.

NY just raised the retirement age for teachers to 62 and I had a visceral reaction to it. 40 years in a classroom? I love my job, but no thank you. I'm locked in at 57 years old and 30 years of service. I'll need an extra year so I'll be able to retire at 57/31 (which gives me an extra 1.5% on my pension) and that seems so far away already. Woof. ETA, nope, I just did the math. I'll have two extra years at 57, so 32 years of service. But an extra 3%, so money money I guess.

I don't think this is telling the whole story. You can retire early with 62 and 30 and your benefits are reduced 3% up until age 66. Or you can retire earlier, starting at 55 and have a larger reduction in benefits, again up to age 66. I feel like reduced benefits are pretty standard with early retirement options because you're taking your pension for more years and I don't think I'd call that a penalty? I'd also be interested in where you're seeing MN ranked 46th - like ranked for what? We're consistently in the top half of states for % funded.

I'd also be interested in where you're seeing MN ranked 46th - like ranked for what? We're consistently in the top half of states for % funded. I get the early retirement penalties, but they are steep if you retire early. 3%/ year if you reach 62 and have 30 years but 7% a year between age 59-66 and 4% from 55-59. If I retire at 62, I’ll take a 28% reduction in benefits, that’s way more than the 3%/year from the nursing pension. Other states have early retirement without penalty at much lower ages. I am on a pension reform group and someone posted all the state pensions. I believe they got the 46th because of our high age to retire without penalty. They are proposing 62 OR 35 and/or 60 AND 30 for no penalty retirement.

When DS2 was a newborn, DS1 used to pack both of them a lunch #blessed If our school didn't serve trash for lunch they definitely would have been buying

I really need my kid to consent to school lunches next year. LOL I stopped giving my kids a choice. I hate packing lunches. Within reason (sensory issues) if my kids aren’t going to eat the food I pack they can also choose to not eat the food the school provides. Idk if I worded that right. Lol basically as long as my kids have the option to have a lunch I will gratefully accept the free school lunches haha

It’s a lot less frustrating when they choose not to eat the school lunch. I hate seeing things come back untouched. I also realize they don’t have a lot of time to eat but it still stinks seeing it.

She's 4 and has been nearly exclusively been eating chicken nuggets for two meals a day for 2 years. I finally got her to eat a jelly sandwich. She doesn't like PB though, so it's only a half win, because now I'm trying to find other ways to get protein in her at lunch.
I'm sure it'll get better, since she's so young. The biggest shock for me is that chicken nuggets are NEVER on the lunch menu at school. Today is beef bulgogi.
