DC area friends, how strict are the Smithsonian museums on their timed entries? We're hoping we can squeeze in a museum Fri before the rehearsal, we're thinking maybe Library of Congress So we were at air and space on Sunday. I had accidentally gotten 10 am and 11 am tickets and we got there at 1115. The guy scanning tickets said the 10 am were fine… YMMV

Thanks y'all. Right now, we aren't concerned about self-harm, but her doctor did remind us of resources available if anything comes up. I talked to DS1's psych and was going to schedule with her, but when they sent a new patient packet, there was a note that they do not prescribe any type of stimulant or controlled anxiety meds, which I thought is weird. I'd prefer her not to have to be on anything like that, but we started off DS2 with non-stimulants for ADHD and I also tried that, and it was a giant waste of time for both of us. I met with her counselor yesterday for about an hour and she is putting some things in place to hopefully help her manage her anxiety while at school, and she had me reach out to the assistant principal. He handles implementing 504 plans, and even though they usually need a doctor's diagnosis and recommended accommodations, she said he may be able to put some more things in place that will help her out. Here's hoping! The neuropsychologist who did my son’s evaluation also doesn’t prescribe. His pediatrician manages his meds based on the diagnosis and recommendations in the report. We’ve been quite successful with that route. So maybe that’s something for your DD?

I spoke with the assistant principal and he's sending home a form for her doctor to fill out stating she suspects ADHD/anxiety, and that will be enough to get a 504 in place. When I take them that form, I'm going to ask if they could manage her meds once we get a diagnosis from the psychiatrist. Thank you!!

Following in mrsweasley ‘s footsteps. We are coming to Baltimore/ Washington for spring break. My sister has a small 2 bedroom row house near Patterson Park. There are 5 of us. For 3 nights I thought we’d get a single hotel room new her house for DH, DD and one of the boys to go while the other boy and I stay with my sister. DH likes his own space and DD is allergic to cats. My question is, do we spend $$$ getting a place to stay in DC for 2 nights or do we keep the Baltimore set up and drive back and forth? DH suggested getting a hotel a little ways out of DC to save $, but we need 2 rooms and it won’t save that much. I say if we are driving out of DC then let’s just stay In Baltimore the whole week. The place I found in DC is a 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen across from Navy yard. We are planning on doing the American history museum, spy museum, National archives and then as many monuments as we can fit in.

beaf12 how are you planning to get to DC? If you are driving, the commute will be rough from Baltimore- that would be one pro to staying closer to DC. If you’d rather stay in Baltimore, you consider taking the MARC train from downtown Baltimore (Penn Station) to union station- and then Metro hop. I would think it would still be reasonable cost wise when factoring how much you’ll pay for parking. The Baltimore zoo is nice and a great/accessible size. I’m sure you will all like exploring the Inner Harbor. The aquarium is always awesome.

My husband has PTSD from years as a first responder. To be honest, I’m not sure he’ll actually come until he’s on the plane. So I don’t know if the train is something he can handle. I think I’ll book the apartment in DC. We can take the tour bus around to the sites.

beaf12 we went to the National Cryptological Museum on a trip in 2019. It's between Baltimore and DC. DS1 really wanted to go and found it neat.

I'm am majorly overthinking what I'm going to wear to this wedding. And freaking out that it's going to be warm and I'll be sweating all day I took some pics today trying on some bling options. As a refresher, it's a Black Tie Greek Orthodox wedding on Embassy Row Option 1: I think it's too cutsy/bridesmaid with the belt? But I also don't fashion so what do I know Option 2: I bought these earrings to wear to the welcome party and they don't go with my dress. I really like them, but it feels like not enough? I don't know what kind of necklace would match. They're Shashi earrings and I don't see a coordinating necklace, or even a look online where someone is wearing a necklace Option 3: I don't think the RBG necklace is a good fit, it's the only "statement" necklace I own. Also, DS1 told me it's ugly 😒 Option 4: open to suggesting! Especially budget ones

mrsweasley I don't fashion either, so take everything with a grain (heap) of salt, but I love the dress in the last picture with the hint of gold from the shoes! Do you have time to find a statement type necklace in gold to pull that together? I do love the earrings but I don't have any great ideas to pull that together. Similarly, the belt is really pretty but I'm not sure about the gold belt over the black tie part on the dress. I love love love that dress!

gymngemini it's probably the lighting but everything is silver except the backing on the green earrings, which is gold The dress is from Amazon. It's comfortable AND has pockets, which is basically a unicorn IMO!

Though the earrings are really gorgeous, so maybe someone can help find a way to pull it together. They are really pretty too. And you cannot go wrong with a dress that has pockets. I think you're going to look fabulous however you end up styling it, and I hope you guys have a fabulous trip.

What about the earrings from the first look with the black sash and shoe embellishments from the last one. You wouldn't need a statement necklace with those earrings imho.
Caveat: I can't tell from the pics if the earrings and shoe bling are the same metals or close enough to work.

Yes 2 of the pearly look things shoes and earrings but not belt 3 things is too much If you wanna wear green earrings add green somewhere else a purse shawl/scarf, bracelet or shoe accent. Not sure a green belt would work.

I’d probably try to stay near DC while you are visiting the city - the commute in from Baltimore will suck, especially on week days. But it can certainly be done, you’ll just lose a lot of time to driving or taking the train.

mrsweasley, I love the earrings in the first picture. Pearls plus velvet is so lux and sophisticated. The belt is too much for my taste. Do you have a clutch to carry? A clutch that coordinates with the earrings and a simple longer metallic necklace would be lovely and understated.

Ditto AmyG. Wear the green earrings but skip the necklace (the earrings are too bold and would fight the necklace for attention) get a green and silver clutch and wear the shoe accessories. If the ribbon belt comes off you could hit up a craft store to see if the had a satin brocade ribbon of the same weight with green and silver in it? Eta with other options below. Also, what about doing a bold/statement right hand ring with an ‘emerald’ to bling up your outfit? Handbag: a.co/d/al4HBsMBelt option if the current one is removable (in black which takes away the bridal aspect, imo) a.co/d/cCgrmZLRing a.co/d/9XvnVV2

I appreciate the input everyone! I wasn't sure if just the earrings were "enough"
The sash is attached to the dress, I just wrapped it for the blingy belt vs tying in a bow
I ordered a pearl clutch but it didn't come yet. My backup plan is velvet with a blingy pin

Should I shorten the sleeves? I was thinking maybe mid-forearm? I run hot and I'm a little worried about being warm. Obviously I could pull them up too if I get hot, but would that look bad?

beaf12 I think staying in DC is the right call...I'm in MD DC suburbs and mh commutes to Baltimore and that ride is definitely doable for day trips, but the reverse is a lot longer during the week. Not sure if you are baseball fans, but O's games are great and tickets are usually pretty cheap (free kids tickets for under 10 on upper deck)...granted not sure when they will be in town.
