I just got a fundraising email from Katie Porter with that announcement. Is this for Feinstein's seat? Did I miss an announcement on her retirement or am I just forgetting?

It'll be a dumb timeline but with the extra vote in the Senate they are unlikely to actually do as much damage as they want. Thankfully. Also, the infighting marches on. I really hope so…side eye Sinema Nah. There's no power sharing with 51 so chuck doesn't have to even think about her. He can decide what does and doesn't come to the floor. And she seems happy to shoot down popular things but less so to pass unpopular things.

Shit I mean I love her, but this seat is not a safe blue seat!

But her whiteboard would look nice in the Senate chamber.

Hi. I've been horribly absent from here over the last like, six(?) months. I need to go here again. Lol same. I used to be able to keep up on my work computer, but embedded tweets and stuff stopped showing up, so I missed so much.

Ok, this answered my question! Good for Katie! It feels annoyingly early too, right after getting sworn in again. I get that it’s forcing the Feinstein decision on whether to run (please no!), but if I’m annoyed for T running 2 years ahead of an election, I’m also annoyed with this early of an announcement. Eta: NM, according to my coworker who has ties to her staff, other candidates are likely announcing this month too, so she’s getting ahead of it. I still think it’s annoyingly early for all announcements though.

I think my first instinct was that it'd be good if it pressures Feinstein into announcing her retirement because I'd like to have that done and dusted.

I’m slightly annoyed with Katie’s running. Obviously I don’t think Feinstein should run again. But I don’t love her for this seat and feel we need her in Congress. Mixed feelings over CA politics should be my middle name. Lol

I don't know, I feel like Feinstein has earned the right to announce her retirement/not running on her timeline.
I will be interested to see who else runs because while Porter knows how to get press for her whiteboard but I don't see her winning the Rs and frankly some of the Ds

Embedded tweets and IG posts very rarely show up for me too so I have to guess on context most of the time. It sucks. It could be the browser you are using. Could also be an ad blocker causing issues. ETA: For example, the duck browser won't show IG imbeds because IG is owned by meta and there is some disagreement between the two entities.

It's been at least two years of stories about her mental fitness and her and her team have pretended there's no issue. There comes a point where that ongoing choice has consequences - including that people are going to attempt to show you the door.

I like Porter generally but the only other names I've heard are Adam Schiff and Ro Khanna and I feel like they'd have an even harder time in a statewide race? IDK.

I'm sure when I am using my work computer, it is an ad blocker software of some kind or something security related there. I use Safari on my mobile device and don't have as many issues there but still not great. No ad blocking software so no idea.

mrsweasley I have no idea then. PB always says they can't do anything about Tapa issues because it is a third party app.

Well, I really would like a Black woman because I feel like that was a huge void when Senator Harris left. But a Latina or Asian woman would be a great representation for our state as well. I think Newsom has some candidates in mind should he need to appoint someone if Feinstein cannot complete her term. Karen Bass was likely on that list, but she’s in a great spot now. I always want Barbara Lee but every time I realize she is much older than I think she is. She’s nearly 80!! But if she wanted to do one term before she retired I would campaign fiercely for her. She’s always been my favorite CA politician (MVP aside). The SF mayor London Breed was a thought for a bit but honestly she has underperformed as mayor and now has a lot of baggage. Our lieutenant governor Elena Kounalakis and Secretary of State Shirley Weber are both great but not sure of their interest in national politics or name recognition. Adam Schiff even though he doesn’t fit my above criteria would be my preferred candidate over Porter. He just is Senate material and I think his rep in the state is top notch. I think he could court the independents better than Porter. But I think he knows that the state needs to be a leader on diverse representation and he’s just in the wrong place at the wrong time. I can’t really stand Ro Khanna so no comment there.

willow From what I've found, it could have to do with the OP of the IG account and the settings they have chosen. That would explain why some show up and others don't. Still searching for an answer to tweets.

For tweets, it says you have to have third party cookies enabled. I don't know if having that turned off would affect being able to see some and not others.

The other answer I can find with regards to tweets is the support standard: clear your cookies and cache to see if that fixes the issue.

I literally have no idea what this means lol. But on mobile (safari, iPhone) it’s a 50/50 on if tweets or ig posts embed. It never makes sense to me. To see what y’all are talking about I sometimes quote the post then copy the url and open in new window. Irritating.

Even if it is annoying. It is about 50/50 for me on mobile too. Weirdly enough, I have no issues in the blinds.

I can’t really stand Ro Khanna so no comment there. The bolded is interesting to me because I see Schiff as someone whose approval has become hyper-partisan in that he's become a GOP target for hatred almost on the same level as Pelosi, AOC, Omar, etc. Like someone who has instant name recognition for the Fox News viewers and that the GOP fundraise off of nationally already. I like Lee too. I didn't know she was even entertaining running (or that she's already almost 80!). I have no clue about non-House people so was wondering if there were any possible state-level candidates. Thanks for sharing!
