We’re out of state visiting my parents, the puppy is boarded at a combo vet clinic/kennel. We got an alert about a medical appt last night - my 23 lb dog has vomited 3 socks - 1 single and one pair still folded - since Sunday. That’s in addition to the one he tossed up last week. He seems fine & happy and we are comfortable with their care plan until we can get him on Saturday. But wtaf. I can’t understand how he can swallow one without choking, let alone a pair.

Anyone want to help me come up with a quote? Google isn’t giving me awesome results and I was hoping someone had something they lean on in rough times with unknown outcomes they lean on.

clucky sorry to hear how this is going for him. Did he have a favorite athlete? Maybe a quote from them to give him something enjoyable.

orangebird2020 just wanted to thank you again for your comment. It helped me realized what I could do for my square. I ended up doing a very rough outline of 2 of his dogs (the most recent) and added this quote “you can usually tell a man is good if he has a dog who loves him” W Bruce Cam.eron.

I just left my dentist and there must be a women's clinic in the building now, because when I left there were two protesters there with a fetus sign. Luckily I was heading away from them but the man of the pair FOLLOWED ME and said he "didnt know why I was in the building, but if I was at that clinic, please reconsider".
You can bet I was on the phone with my dentist office before I hit the end of the block (not mad at them, obviously, but wanted them to know so they could warn other patients). For the record I've been seeing this dentist at this office for years and this was a first.

I'm trying to catch up here. I hope you were able to get everything back klw, how awful and violating for you all. I hope your pup was still doing well when you picked him up trueblue - I can't imagine how he was able to do that, but glad that he seems to be ok! clucky, I'm sorry to hear that about your BIL. I'm sure your all's gift will mean so much to him and I think what you decided to do with your square sounds perfect. No experience byjove but I hope the new one is able to help and I'm sorry the first option wasn't successful. I'm sorry that happened cakewench. I hope your warning to the office is able to help others avoid encountering those individuals.

DD failed intuniv- brought on a depressive episode we are working our way out of The doctor wants to try strattera next, last option really. Anyone have experience with that? I’m mostly a lurker, but my daughter has been on Strattera for months now and it’s helped with her ADHD and has had no recognizable side effects so far. She is now reading and is catching back up to her grade level. It does have to build up in order to work but I noticed small changes in her week 1. She is 8 years old. It’s been somewhat of a miracle worker for us. Hope that helps!

We've been casually toying with the idea of getting a cat, but I'm not sure it'd be a good fit. I grew up with dogs, but only owned fish in my adult life. I'm not really sure what to expect in terms of costs and needs, plus meshing with the kids. But I can't stop looking at PetFinder 😬
MH is definitely allergic to dogs and maybe allergic to cats, but he keeps telling me we should do it.

I find cats to be less work than dogs, if that’s a consideration. They’re more independent which can be nice in a busy household. They’re also assholes in various ways, but they’re too cute to stay mad at. Highly recommend! 😸

kam3100, follow up question- did you try any other meds? I guess my question is, how did you end up on strattera? DD’s doctor recommended Strattera because dd has anxiety and would get nightmares. He said because of the anxiety and nightmares, he recommended a non-stimulant drug. We just got lucky that the first one we tried worked.

Interestingly, I asked the psychiatrist if it is unusual for kids with ADHD to struggle so much with the meds, and he said it is common to see it with kids that are a combined austim/ADHD presentation. To which I was like well is that something we need to be considering? And he said no if she is able to maintain friendships and doesn't have certain types of patterns, but I am curious. I know with girls it can be tricky to identify. DH has ADHD and I'm something, though I don't know what, though I have dealt with sensory issues since forever and got a diagnosis for them in 2nd grade back when that was pretty unusual. DH and I both relate to multiple autistic traits. But I am extremely sensitive to medication, so it's possible DD is just following in my foot steps.

byjove, I'm sorry, We lucked out with meds (although at the time there werent very many available) on the first go. T was actually one of the first here for concerta and other than having to tweak dosing every year did well. He is also ADHD/Autistic. Hopefully you find something that works for her.

byjove, my DD is "triple A" and it took us a really long time to get a diagnosis because of it. I've had 2 cousins plus my nephew diagnosed as being on the spectrum since then so....pretty sure that genetic link came from my side of the gene pool. It has definitely led to some self-reflection. FWIW, our psychiatrist treats her with Bupropion / Wellbutrin. She indicated it has off-label uses for ADHD and DD legitimately struggles with depression. Medication is SO hard. I hope you guys find something that works well.

H is allergic to dogs, but fine around cats. I'd suggest going to a local shelter and meeting a few. Ours keeps the dogs and cats very separate, so you should be able to tell if he'll have a reaction to the cats. Our cats are very sweet and loving and adore the kids. H's kitty is sitting with me right now, begging for pets. (We got both our current cats at around the same time 5 years ago. We both picked out one, who we bonded more with, so that's why it's his vs. mine, though they are both family pets.)

I used to have terrible allergies growing up that are definitely not as bad now, and it makes me wonder if I'm also allergic to dogs. We've spent such limited time at my parent's house in recent years I haven't been able to test that theory. MIL is allergic to cats and dogs and did allergy shots for years, so I think they just assumed MH was the same There is a catfe nearby that has adoptable cats, mayne we should try visiting this weekend and see if he has a reaction
