We are all officially as vaxed and boosted against flu and covid as we can be! I feel like hot garbage today, body aches and low fever and I tossed and turned all night. If I remember right it only lasted 24 hours last time so hopefully it won't be too much longer. It always hits me the worst for some reason. Same! I'm hoping this is fairly short lived, but I have been up since 1 am.

I feel like I should do something with my toddler since he presumably had COVID. Take him a children's museum. Target. Haircut? Grocery store? So many places he's never been inside of.

Hopefully you start feeling better soon too!

I know it's stupid of me but I never think to take anything 🤦🏻♀️ Hopefully next time I remember. I'm always good at taking care of other people but not myself, lol.

I honestly can’t think about it much. Last I bothered to look I don’t think our county ever made it above 50% vaxxed with the original shots to say nothing of boosters. No masks in schools here. My 6yo wears a cloth mask at school because I know one she’ll keep on is better than an N95 she won’t but she’s the only one in her class and one of like 10 in the building. What’s even the point? And hearing it’s about to get worse? I almost want to pull and homeschool again. I’m so angry at people.

I feel like I just want to bury my head in the sand about this. Like I was concerned when I’d have a newborn but now I have a preemie newborn and I’m second guessing every outside the house activity. And the weather is getting cold so now things are moving indoors and I’m trying so hard not to spiral into a ball of anxiety.

I know it’s not exactly the same, but the twins were born this time fo year also and it’s a scary thing to be staring at the looming months of flu and rsv (and at the time I didn’t even have covid to worry about) Anyway it sucks

DS2 seems to have picked up a cold or something. Snotty and a little warm, which is typical for him with colds. I wanted to get his flu shot tomorrow but I suppose I should hold off. They recently opened a kid's urgent care lite up the street and they offer flu and covid shots, so convenient.

Hopefully still this month for the new boosters for 5-11 year olds. I would really like my kids to get these before the covid/cold/flu season ramps up further.

Is there a flu shot shortage? My hospital mandates vaccines for all employees and we haven't been able to get them. We also normally start offering it to all inpatients starting Oct 1 and that has been postponed because they don't have the supply they need. This is the first year this has been a problem in the 15 years I've been there.
I'm glad I got mine at a pharmacy so I don't have to wait.

My smell and taste didn't go away, but some things taste weird now. For example, I used go love milk and I think I've had it twice in the last month. It just don't sound good. There are quite a few things like that, like most "sweets".

DD, who is prone to rashes and hives, woke up with a rash Saturday morning on her back. H thought it could be viral, so we tested her again, and she had a faint positive. But she's been completely asymptomatic at this point. DS and I are still negative.
H is now on day 12 and still testing positive. He said he felt like he had a lot of congestion in his chest today. We're still sleeping separately, he wears a KN95 when he comes out, etc. Any opinions on how long you would keep this up? I cannot miss work this week and 3 of the 4 of us are in a wedding weekend after next. Obviously we need to play it very safe.

I'm not sure if he could still be contagious but if you can keep sleeping apart and him masking I'd keep it up another few days at least. If no other reason than it would make me feel better if I had important stuff on my plate.

Oh hi. I forgot about this thread, maybe my subconscious was protecting me.
DC brought home our first cold in 2.5 years so that’s been fun. We both tested negative for Covid on multiple rapids so I do think it’s “just” a cold. I kept them home all last week but they’re feeling better now. I’ve still got a lot of head congestion and just hoping it doesn’t turn into a sinus infection. Sigh.
I will get DC their flu shot this week for sure. I’ll probably have to wait a little until I get over this snottiness. Fingers crossed DC doesn’t get sick again before the bivalent booster is available for kids!!!

Also re: the new variants, remember more infectious doesn’t necessarily mean more severe.

So MIL tested positive. She has zero symptoms but had to get a PCR before her colonoscopy tomorrow and surprise, it was positive. She got it on Friday, the same day she spent hours with H and the kids. Thankfully they were outside the whole time, but I'm still feeling a way about it. She's taken two home tests and both have been negative, so that's super NOT reassuring. However you slice it, her procedure is postponed and H and the kids have been exposed. I was out of town all weekend, so I'm in the clear as long as they don't get sick. Just waiting to see if any of us go down. I'm still struggling to bounce back from my head cold turned sinus infection, going on week three of it. So yeah, super, fun, coolio dudes. Can't fucking wait.

Not liking going to phys therapy and nobody but a couple of patients in masks. Then hear next person over coughing. I dont care if it's just a cold I don't want it.

cnf could it have picked up an old infection? PCRs can stay positive for a very long time. She could have had it a month ago.

I forget when she drove home from Iowa sick as a dog with it. It's been a few months at least. I can't imagine it's picking up an infection that old? ETA she had it in July and thinks it's picking up the old infection. They still obviously rescheduled all her stuff. I guess we'll find out.

I would assume he is still contagious and act accordingly For my own sanity we mask/distance to the max extent possible until the at home test comes back negative.
