DS2 was resistant to go into preschool last week and today he had to be carried in screaming. I feel awful. I don't want to force it and for him to hate school, but I also know he'll probably be fine once he's I'm there. He didn't resist until it was literally time to walk in the door. We were even waiting a few minutes outside the door before they opened and he was fine.
4 is such a hard age.

elle that was great and needed. mrsweasley that is rough. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I wish I had suggestions, ds3 used to do the same thing, to the point I asked his teachers for suggestions. They had zero clue what I was talking about since he was fine the moment they saw him, like from the car to the door. With him, after so much prodding (with a child with speech issues) he told me that sometimes the room is too noisy for him and he just needs a quiet walk in the hallway. Once he knew that was an option, it was no big deal dropping off - then Covid happened, but we got a good semester in first.

mrsweasley, I am sorry. It's tough. My youngest was like that in preschool. She would cry and cling to DH at dropoff. We worked out a routine where he would help her get settled in and then hand her off to an aide. It lasted a few months. She's now in 4th, and came through it with some supports.

Thank you all again for your support. A happy middle school update: DD1 made a friend! They eat lunch together and exchanged phone numbers. She also joined the cross country team and scouts. (XC came out of left field - I didn't expect that from her at all.) I'm so proud of her for trying all these activities! She's my rigid kiddo and she is working hard to find her place.

I ran XC in high school. I was terrible. But it was the best team I was ever on. My experience is that XC teams are very supportive of personal best and really build each other up. DD joined swim team (girls swimming is in the fall in MN) and she loves it for the same reason I loved XC.

D1’s teacher sent an email yesterday after school about how the 1st day back went after their loss. They started the day sitting in a circle, she said that before she began, they all were holding hands. They also have them little felt hearts to hold in their pockets for when they needed comfort. They would notice an upset friend and give them their heart. Pretty sure their unprompted kindness and compassion for each other will get them through this. Tomorrow will be the toughest day for them.

DS2 went willingly into preschool yesterday and today, thank goodness. Coincidentally they're talking about feelings this week 🤣
I think I've figured out some good currency for negotiation/bribery. 🤞🤞 it keeps working

DS didn’t cry at drop off with DH yesterday but was full of tears today with me. Sigh. I think DH needs to do drop offs, which is a-ok with me.

It is so difficult on the kids and staff and just everyone. I hope everyone continues to help each other through this time. Sending lots of love and empathetic vibes.

He had no problem separating from H, but melted down if he had to separate from me. It was really hard for awhile, but much better now that he’s older.

I dove head first into finding an all day therapy center for G and I think I have found a winner. It's a 15 min drive from our house not at all in the direction of my work but it's the closest we can find. It will operate like a preschool/daycare with therapies during the day so we can bill the whole thing to insurance which is great. The FB group I joined has a lot of really great feedback about the center with their kids and how much it positively helped them grow and speak and everything.
The best part is it sounds like there will be very little wait time to actually get him enrolled after they process our application. I feel a bit bad that his current in home daycare lady will only have a few months with him because she's worked so hard to get him comfortable there, but I know she'll understand.

Haha I told the therapist today during our appt and I was like welp I guess that’s why this week our survey answers went back up on tantrums and behavior issues…. And… at least we’re in therapy for the separation anxiety, right? Haha. And she was like yeah big changes make for tough weeks….. STORY OF MY LIFE WITH THIS KID, lady!!

H is bumming me out. Everything I try to do in the new house, he hates. I know it’s more because he’s stressed and not really my fault… but I feel like I can’t do anything without him making a face. And yes I have told him to knock it off already. I think I may be your husband. I'm being very picky and going slow about decorating/arranging our new house because we're planning on being here for a while. I've had to redo some of the things he's taken upon himself to do and I feel bad about it. But clearly not bad enough to let things stand. 😆

Super random question: What types of medicine do you keep in your medicine cabinet? I have advil and tylenol but realized alot of our cold medicine is expired. I am throwing it away and will pick up more but I am wondering if I over stock. (According to my H, I buy more then needed. )
